It's okay Bevanger.....I am glad you posted it here because I would have never seen it otherwise.
You just gave me the incentive to ask my uncle about my grandmother's treadle machine that is sitting at my other uncle's house. I don't think it has even been looked at in ages. I haven't said anything about it for fear of world war 3 with the aunts but I am going to risk it now. Thanks sweetie! |
Thanks for reminding us to at least ask! Today! I am going to my mothers to get my grandmothers machine before someone else in the family claims it.

But you have those memories and they are forever! My grandma had her treadle converted to electric- so no pretty cabinet. She never used it after that. But I will get it and see what I can do with it. My mom just said yesterday that Grandma and Grandpa would have been married 100 years this month!

100 yrs? WOW!
Yeah I have TONS of memories. Mom said I took after my gma cuz she crocheted, knitted, hand embrouidered, sewed clothes, quilted etc. Only thing I can't get the hang of is knitting  I have hand carved knitting needles my grandpa made and Grandma made my dad and his brothers & 1 sister things. My Aunt gave me them. I have them on my sewing room wall. |
Maybe she remembers where she got rid of the machine. You may be able to track it down and buy it. It's worth a try. Maybe your sister thought since you didn't seem upset when she asked for it, you weren't interested. She's your sister you have a right to make her feel a little miserable over this!

I can't believe she did that!!!!!!!!!!! I understand you being furious. Nice guys finish last...perhaps we should stop being so nice and speak up for things that mean a lot to us - like grandma's treadle and all that sort of thing. Sorry this happened to you, our wonderful sweet Bev... :(

So sorry
