We have a storm (typhoon) headed our way. Right now we are at a COR3, soon to be upgraded to COR1 tomorrow afternoon. I have done all I can to prepare for this storm. Hopefully I have enough supplies to get us (Courtney and I...hubby is at sea) for us to manage thru this, should it become as powerful as they think it will be. Power will most likely go out, as it usually does on a daily/weekly basis.
I'm hoping this thing blows around us and we don't get what they say we are going to get. So, if you don't hear/see me in the next couple of days, you know what's going on. I do have a landline phone, so that's a good thing. Not sure if phone lines will go out, but we also have the cell phones which are constantly on charge. |
Terri,
I'll be saying prayers for you for a safe ride through and for your DH for peace of mind as I'm sure he'll be thinking of you both without him there. Blessings, Jen |
Prayers flying your way. Please stay safe.
Anxiously waiting to hear (((((HUGS))))) Linda D MI |
I'll be thinking of you Terri - I saw you were offline and you're usually there when I check in in my morning. Hope you are safe, girl! And Courtney and kitties too. :D
I'm still here. They are saying it's supposed to hit Wed at 5am, that's about 7am Tuesday for East Coasters. So, we just have to wait and see.
I have all my fans set up so I can blow it back out to sea. :) |
Hang on tight Terri! Have you gone through this before since you have been on that rock? How scary! Will keep you in thoughts and prayers.
Good luck with this storm, hugs, prayers that all will be fine.
Nope, have never experienced a typhoon before. Talking to the locals, they say it's the same as a hurricane, but the winds are worse because of this being an island.
No worries. I have pretty much all I need. I'm running for more bottled water in the morning and a couple more bags of cat food just in case this does hit and we lose power for a while. Can't have kitties without food! |
okay, hopfully power won't go out and you can sew till your hearts content. :D
Stay safe Terri. Hope the storm passes around you. Will keep a watch of the board for more news from you.
Take care Terri. Be safe! Water is a strong thing with wind behind it. Will be thinking of you.
stay safe!
stay safe!
I'm thinking good and happy thoughts and hope it blows by quickly and with little impact on you, your family and everyone else there! I hate seeing these events unfold. Make sure you put some candy in that safety stash!! :)
Stay safe Terri, and line up some hand work to do.
Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. We have been through a couple badk ones, no power for a week once, so just hang tight , and be prepared. |
Hopeing for the best and praying for you there. Good luck.
Egads Terri- is your life ever dull? Take care of you and sending you lots of hugs and well wishes. If I am ever stuck on an island, you are so the person I want to be with- you have tackled every scenario possible. love ya- cathy p.s. It's a very good thing to keep those kittycats fed, you are too thin for them to munch on. You'd be a small snack.
I hope it is not as bad as they are predicting...can you get a hold of dry ice to keep your food ok in the fridge for a few more days, just in case? Keeping fingers crossed for you and yours!!!
Prayers for you and your family to stay safe.
I have been hearing about the weather out that direction and I thought about you. Glad to hear you are as prepared as you can be for the unknown. Will keep sending positive vibes your way! Keep the kitties fed, candles handy and the manual can opener near by!
I'm sure you've heard of the butterfly effect so I am chasing butterflies in the hopes that their wingflutters will change the course of the typhoon away from you and back out to sea.
I went through three hurricanes in one summer, and it is scary to see the damage. I'll keep hope that it misses you!
I just saw on the BBC news about typhoons in the Phillipines - is that near Terri? I'll go check. :?
I'll certainly be thinking of you, Terri. Just stay safe.
Jst found this link re the weather warning. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/wwamap/wwatx...wa=gum&wwa=all
It doesn't look as deadly as what the Phillipines is getting thank God, but I still wouldn't like to be in it. I pray that Terri, Courtney and cats are all OK. |
prayers to you and stay safe. Hope your power doesn't go out so you can sew sew sew
Praying that you make it through safely!
Take care Terri! Tell Big Boy to keep his Mommy safe......
Stay safe. Will be thinking of you. I will watch on the news.
Take care and be safe Terri. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and I hope it misses you.
Yes, please stay safe Terri!
And remember the weather people rarely get anything "right". (Also, that soon you will be moving off the rock........) will be thinking of you! |
I, as Moonpi, went through three hurricanes in one summer. We are on a flat island. It's scary. Be sure you have flashlights and lots of batteries, more water than you think you'll need, gas for the grill, important documents in a stay dry container, ice and extra pet food. You're up high, right? So flooding isn't good to be so bad for you. Hope your roof stays on. We are low. 3 feet above sea level. Flooding is our biggest problem. I'm keeping good thoughts for you.
Stay high and dry girl, and Please let us know as soon as you can when it is over and that you are okay.
Terri---I hope you and Courtney are okay thru the typhoon. I will be watching for news about you. Be sure to check back in as soon as possible to let us know you are okay.
I hope I have an email when I get in from the barn tomorrow morning....
Sending good thoughts and prayers your way. I sure hope it misses you.
I'm still here. Right now we have cloudy blue skies, but that doesn't mean anything. The rain we had the past couple days was from another front that was lurking around out there.
Right now, they say it's east/southeast of us and moving west/northwest and is 540 miles away. They say the southern part of the island is going to be the worst. Gee...guess where I live? Yup! Southern part. Oh well.... I've gone thru hurricanes, blizzards.....anyone in New England remember Blizzard of 78? I'm sure there's someone young enough to remember that. Took me 4 days to get home from work. Finally got home and no power for almost a week and a half. They called the Canadians in to help restore power to the area. Good thing Mom and Dad had the travel trailer! I think we will be fine. Just trying to figure out if hubby is coming home or not. Still haven't gotten an answer from him on that. I'm thinking they'll probably stay at sea and skirt the storm <shrug> |
Just be safe, Terri, and have plenty of water.
I'm sure it's hard not being able to get a hold of DH. He's probably worrying about you also. You will be in all of our prayers and thoughts. Let us know when it's over and you are alright. And do some hand sewing!! :D :D |
Hubby and I have been e-mailing.....gotta love the NEW Navy! lmao
Last one I got from him was.....gotta get back to work and make the screw turn. Guess that means they are headed home or headed somewhere! I just worry about him being on this ship. I worry more about him now than I did the past 20 years he was on submarines. Go figure, huh? |
I can understand that. It's a different time we live in. And as we get older, we worry more
So glad that the 2 of you can e-mail! We had 2 hurricanes, where we were out of power for a week and it is no picnic. And 1 large snow storm where there were hundreds of trees down. All the men were out with chain saws and their trucks. they cleared all of the road so we could get through. DH was out all night cutting. Pine trees go down fast in a snow storm here. :D When the power cam back on , I hit that shower as soon as the water was hot!!   It was still so cold in the bathroom that the fog was so thick I couldn't see, but that shower felt good! :D |
