We use a plastic circle that has slits in it (sorry don't remember technical name). It pairs the socks before they go in the wash. I have never lost a sock since I have been using this item. I think the missing socks go to SOCK HEAVEN because like you I never use to find them.

This is the absolute best way. Just this morning was rotating the laundry and one of dH socks was caught under the agitator. He got it. All socks and mates were accounted for. Lingerie bags a cheap.

get yourself a lingerie bag and put them into that to wash. That way they will "stay together".

I totally agree!

My mom used these gadgets when I was a child.

They're plastic sock holders.

What a shame you don't believe your friend. I've been married 46 years and can honestly say I've never lost a sock. Taught DH and 3 daughters to roll them into each other when they took them off. I still do it, automatically.

My husband told me he was tired of me losing his socks, so now he pins them together and throws them in the laundry basket....it annoyed me at first, but no more missing socks..

Sew Freak 05-17-2015 08:15 AM

Occasionally, I will find a dryer sheet or a sock in my sweat pants or in a sleeve but not often enough to account for all the missing. Recently, I purchased new socks and after one wearing one mate disappeared. Where or where did the mates go?

Happen at your home? What was your solution? Where were they hiding? Thanks for the help.[/QUOTE]

I think they found their way to my house!!! lol!

Somewhere, in a parallel universe, they only wear mismatched socks. They can't get them packaged that way, and must sneak in to our laundry rooms and steal them. That is the story my MIL told, and I have no proof she is wrong....lol!

All of these are interesting theories. My MIL claimed that somehow they acted as seed for the next batch of laundry to grow.

I have had that to happen many times until I got one of those laundry bags. Now - they can get out.
