i hear voices talking to each other sometimes on my computer. with clicking like on a mike. just said "have you heard any more about them.... (something)." 10-4 also. hmmmm. wonder who it is? the sound does't get louder if i change the volumn on my speaker. it is coming from one speaker though. very odd and irritating!!

Maggiemay 02-10-2011 05:35 PM

and kind of spooky!

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 02-10-2011 05:42 PM

Our Sheriff's dispatcher comes through our TV on occaision. Maybe it is something like that.

bibliostone 02-10-2011 05:46 PM

Sounds like someone with a ham radio is broadcasting too strongly. Have you noticed any large antennas near you? It could be several blocks away.

Sadiemae 02-10-2011 05:51 PM

My computer has done that a couple of times also.

QuiltingTurtle 02-10-2011 05:53 PM

Ok that would freak me out. :)

Colorful Quilter 02-10-2011 06:06 PM

Never had that happen to me yet, I learned a long time to never say never. lol

I can guarantee it's a ham or cb operator. My husband work/run many cb radios and has been known to interfere with telephones, televisions, radios, speakers...

Because if this he restricts his "Loud" radios to after 11 pm. Look in your area, there is an antenna somewhere. When you find it, knock on the door. In my experience these people are very nice and want to be good neighbors.

Good Luck

Sadiemae 02-10-2011 07:17 PM

I live in a rural area and I just don't worry about it when it happens.

nativetexan 02-10-2011 07:17 PM

there is a tall antenna across the street a bit but for t.v. and my next door neighbor talks outside on his cell phone. oh well, it seems nothing i can do about it. just wish i could turn them down, even though they really aren't loud.

amandasgramma 02-10-2011 07:21 PM

Yip, ham or CB. One time my TV picked up the road crew that was working on the road about 2 blocks away. It IS eerie at first!!!!

Ditto! We have had that happen to us sometimes.

It could be a neighbor who has a cb in their vehicle/semi, and I forget what they call the "booster" but when it is engaged, they can come through your speakers.
They can be a ways away and still come through, so it can be hard to tell who it is :D:D:D

moonrise 02-10-2011 09:06 PM

The speakers on my old computer would pick up DH's CB when he was sitting in the driveway. After he realized I could hear his conversations, he'd pull up in the driveway, loudly say "Honey, I'm home!" and scare the BLEEP out of me! LOL!

The speakers on my new laptop don't do it, though. Not sure why.

miss_ticky2 02-10-2011 09:17 PM

I get that too on mine.. I hear it early in the morning..sounds like a radio station on mine, but very faint

I'm with you on that one.

My DH is a ham operator and it could be that. Ham operators should have filters on their equipment to avoid this problem. Most new ones now have them built in. I don't know about CBers. However, we have a walkie-talkie set up and every now and then it blurts out but it is not coming from the radios. My DH has four antennas set up and never had a complaint. Aside from that, when I first moved in my home, after we had gone to bed, I could hear music (very softly) playing. I would get up, check everything, and finally figured it out. It was coming out of the faucet in the half-bath! Radio transmissions can do weird things. A relative that lived in Torrance CA back in the 60's could pick up the station KOMA here in OKC. Now that is a hugh bounce.

sandpat 02-11-2011 06:43 AM

That would be weird....at one time when I picked up the phone, in addition to a dial tone..I could hear my neighbor's talking on their phone. Sometimes interesting...but then I realized that if I could hear them...they could hear me..didn't like that at all!

Debra Mc 02-11-2011 07:00 AM

It's called a skip. My old house portable phone use to do it. You had to change the channels.

MaggieLou 02-11-2011 07:37 AM

It's either a ham radio operator or a CB radio that's overriding your signal.

Zappycat 02-11-2011 07:57 AM

That's odd! I've never had that happen! Made me think of the onl party lines on the phone when I was a kid. If I dialed my own phone number I could hear other people talking. Can you imagine THAT happening today?@!! haha!

jbj137 02-11-2011 08:31 AM

You have someone in your area that has a really tall
transmitting station (tower).
Years ago we could pick them up on our TV.
Quite annoying.

mypatookis 02-11-2011 08:38 AM

I hear voices too... but not over my speakers... hehe

grannypat7925 02-11-2011 08:48 AM

Sounds like soundwave interference with CB radio somewhere close by.

quilt crazee 02-11-2011 09:23 AM

in the late '70's, I was gearing up for a major clean-up, had the stereo on, between records..... when I heard in my totally quiet house---F**K it, why bother,I'm not doing it!-- whoa! I looked around to see who was reading my mind....I put my record on & got busy! Decided it had to be a XB bleed over that the tuner picked up---BUT the timing was just perfect!! LOL!!!

DA Mayer 02-11-2011 09:40 AM

Baby monitors and intercoms can also come across. our neighbors had an intercom between the house and shed just like we did and we heard each other until we changed channels.

I was going to say the same thing!

Debra Mc 02-11-2011 10:45 AM

My baby moniter & my neighbors down the street were on the same channel. I changed mine real quick.

JeanDal 02-11-2011 10:57 AM

Sounds like a ham operator. I have heard of people talking thru the internet also being picked up.

misseva 02-11-2011 11:16 AM

We get this sometimes during sunday morning church services!!!

roseOfsharon 02-11-2011 12:11 PM

Sounds like you are picking a ham operator or truckers cd calls. Just my guess!

quilt3311 02-11-2011 03:10 PM

My guess is a ham radio, or CB or police radio coming through on your speaker.

cheryl rearick 02-11-2011 08:26 PM

yes, I think It would freak me out, good think I am hard of hearing lol

Chasing Hawk 02-11-2011 08:41 PM

My son's stereo used to do that until I threw it into the pool.

sewwhat85 02-11-2011 09:18 PM

very interesting

Rann 02-12-2011 08:52 AM

I can't use my large stereo system because it knocks my phones out.

SharonC 02-12-2011 09:17 AM

It would spook me too :)

Debra Mc 02-12-2011 09:59 AM

When I was a kid my dad would chew me out every morning for playing the radio all night. Come to find out it was the central heating & cooling unit. Somehow it was picking up signals. My sew cave is a metal bldg. It is well insulated but in the corner where cd player is when you turn it off you can still hear sounds. It may be that wall antenna. Freaked me out the 1st time I heard it.

jojosnana 02-12-2011 07:02 PM

That would scare me to death.......
