I have several sisters, a brother and BFF who all have Tempurpedic mattresses and they absolutely swear by them. Most of them have back and other health related issues that have been relieved or greatly relieved by switching to Tempurpedic mattresses. When we sell our house and move, I plan to get one, but until then, I just don't want to add another item to be moved.

For those of you who have the split king mattress, how comfortable/uncomfortable is it in the middle of the bed? Can you feel the split? How well do the mattresses stay close together?

I've had a tempurpedic with the adjustable base for over 10 years. I absolutely love it. About 3 years ago my husband and I bought 2 twin extra long adjustable beds from Costco on line for our second home. They are made from memory foam and are very good... but they are not tempurpedic. They are not as soft and comfortable as the original. I no longer sleep well if I'm not on a memory form mattress.

We have a sleep by number bed and have had it for years. We love it -- only have room for a queen though I would love a split king.

Mimi, I hope you have an IKEA nearby. If so, go there and check out their memory foam mattresses. Myrbaka I believe is their best memory foam mattress. I bought a Sultan Finnvik model last year in queen size. It was less than $500 and the best mattress we have owned to date!! They are not hot, they fit in the back seat rolled up, of course, of your car. We put it on a platform base and let it breathe for four hours. That night, I fell in love all over again...with my mattress!! It is so comfortable! Save yourself a lot of money and check it out before you shell out $2k or more for that tempurpedic!! They now sell Myrbaka, the replacement for the Sultan.....The king size is $599!!!

I can't vouch for the middle as the reason we bought the split king is because each of us like to adjust the bed differently---my husband has the head up quite a bit, and I like my feet up. When the two sides are at different levels, the middle isn't a good option. If you both like the same adjustments I think it would be fine. The two beds are heavy and stay together, no moving around---they are on casters that lock. Also, after a few months the places you lay the most get softer than the other edges--although all of it is really comfy and great on the back!!

My DD has the too warm problem with her temperpedic, so we put a thick polyester mattress pad on top under the sheets, and got her a little clip on fan to point toward her as she sleeps, and problem solved. The mattress pad helps circulate the air around you....which the "mattress protectors" that I bought with mine, (to get the twenty year warrranty) do not, but I still use them all the time.
