On the local news tonight, it was reported that some guy broke into a home and the couple was there. The husband tried to tackle the guy and wasn't successful, so the wife picked up her sewing machine and hit him over the head.
Would you do that?

I wouldn't hit them with my sewing machine...it might break.

My stove now, completely different story :)

I think I would find something other than my sewing machine. But if that was the closet thing I guess it would work.
Pretty funny story!

I guess it's easier to replace/fix the sewing machine than the husband! I hope I would think that quick, orrrrrrrrrr was it the husband she hit over the head b/c he wasn't successful? haha

I'd use the vaccuum. LOL!

You betcha! Then I would get my gun and finish the job!

My grandmother beat a guy seriously with her cane. The partner kept grandpa *busy* in the back yard while one entered the front. They thought grandpa lived alone because grandma had serious spinal problems (hence the cane) and couldn't go down the stairs to go outside. Boy was he surprised when he took a couple whacks over the head while being cursed in Italian. Grandpa said the guys screams are what brought him and the neighbors running.

I probably wouldn't use my sewing machine unless it was the handiest item. I can well imagine how much damage I could do with my Singer 66 Treadle, or even my Janome 6600.

Or ... I could just let the dogs have a crack at him :)

Well our fireplace tool set is pretty close I think I'd use a poker versus my machine.
But my hats off to her for protecting her hubby and home, although for poor hubby it will be a while before he hears the end of that one lol

Only as a last resort. I have a two spares if need be.

Actually if i'm near the kitchen i'm more likely to grab a cast iron skillit. My mother-in-law explained to me years ago that they are useful for more than just frying potatoes. :-D
