really grown men smacking each other on the bum?

redkimba 02-04-2011 05:50 AM

only if they are wearing white pants...

I like a live high-school football game, but I don't watch it otherwise.

mrspete 02-04-2011 05:51 AM

or belly bumping or jumping high five.........yeah all of it, but mostly the game. Knowing the staff of the teams, the team track records, the competetion in the geographical areas.......nothing like it. Sammiches on Sunday from Subway, go get! I've been hooked since I heard my first World Championship on My New Car Radio in 1966, and the next year I watched the first Superbowl.......yaaahooooo.I guess Travel Inn thought they had an orgey going on because eight of us went in for a room, eats, pop, and spent about five hours and left. No one had a color TV but the Motel did and we enjoyed it. Paying extra for the TV use was nothing. Been hooked forever.

everyone has a vice, ya know!

blessings, Ruth

I have loved watching football for quite some time ... the ex didn't like it so I spent a few years not watching ... now I have a hubby who likes to watch as much as I do ... we don't have favorite teams as much as players we like ... we like college football too ... and for the Super Bowl, I make a bunch of appetizer type stuff and we have a great time

Me too! DD's boyfriend plays high school football so we go to most of the games. I do enjoy the commercials of the super bowl but that's it.

Sadiemae 02-04-2011 06:07 AM

Not at all!

mamaw 02-04-2011 06:10 AM

Yes, I certainly do; but don't watch all games. Only certain teams. Just so happens, 2 of those teams are in this year's Super Bowl....looking forward to Sunday evening! Look forward to the commercials as much as the game.

leatheflea 02-04-2011 06:13 AM

The best part is watching honey when his team plays! The steelers! Gonna be a fun weekend!

quilter41 02-04-2011 06:16 AM

OMG I wouldn't miss it. I have been an ND fan since I was 10 and had season tickets for 30 yrs. Snow, rain, or shine we are there.

twinkie 02-04-2011 06:23 AM

I love college football. If I were someone's husband, I would be the one that they complained about to their friends.

pheasantduster 02-04-2011 06:23 AM

i enjoy watching football on TV with husband even though our Patriots failed us this year! When daughter in high school she was in the marching band and as a
Music Mom, I went to high school games only to see the band play at halftime.

Rebecca VLQ 02-04-2011 06:37 AM

I do. Love it. When the kids were littler we were too tired to follow along...but now? Bring it!

Chrys 02-04-2011 06:37 AM

nope, but I keep my mouth shut since dh and our boys love it. Now baseball season starts soon...that's what I LOVE! Go Giants!

mhunt1717 02-04-2011 06:47 AM

LOVE IT!!!

bamamama 02-04-2011 06:52 AM

We get together with friends and watch Alabama games. The Alabama Auburn thing can be alot of fun as our friends are divided. Other than that I leave the football thing to my DH.

geckogirl 02-04-2011 07:02 AM

A great man once said, "football in Alabama, is a way a life" ... Same man also said that football was a religion in Texas ...

jcrilley 02-04-2011 07:04 AM

I could live the rest of my life without it. I liked it in the 60's before it was so hyped and the players were not prima donnas, but I have to vacate the room or occupy my mind with a book or hand quilting when it is on. My hubby loves ALL sports and i love him, so I adapt. (don't we all)

2 Doods 02-04-2011 07:11 AM

Nope! No interest here!
And one of the LQS is having a Super Bolt sale and opening her classroom for a "sit and sew" (bring your own project and meet other quilters.) I am very tempted to go!

Willa 02-04-2011 07:24 AM

Dislike!!! Hope there's a good movie on. Hope its a great game for everyone who does like it though.

dpparris 02-04-2011 07:24 AM

Football and Nascar is about all I like to watch on TV. I yell so much during the football game that I can't talk the next day!

Maggiemay 02-04-2011 07:37 AM

I LOVE football! We moved away from our families when we were in our 20's & when games were on my husband would watch them alone. So I started watching them with him & he taught me the game. Now I am the one who will sit down & watch a game more than him! I get so excited in August when the pre season starts!

Cyn 02-04-2011 07:59 AM

I could take it or leave it but my hubby loves it and that's all that matters to me. He wants me near by and that's even better to me! When he was active duty Marine and our kids were little- that time was family time so there wasn't time for football or golf. Now they are gone, he deserves the time for his fun! I'm just happy to have him with me too :) Thank you Lord for keeping him safe and giving us this time together! He'll do things I enjoy also and make things for my sewing room and do the math for my quilts!!! Oh and he doesn't fuss about all the cats and dogs :) He even put in another dog door last weekend- this house has so many of them-6 in all:)

Marlys 02-04-2011 08:14 AM

Love it! Mostly NFL because I know the players. The college players change too fast & I like to know who is playing. I watch even when DH is not home. My DD, a freshman at college, is the only girl to go to the lounge to watch the NFL games. The guys are amazed that she knows the rules & the players! One night she was the only Packer fan there & all the guys were Vikings fans - but they didn't give her too much grief!

amma 02-04-2011 08:45 AM

I follow my team and usually watch all of the superbowl games too :D:D:D

littlehud 02-04-2011 08:52 AM

I love watching football. I didn't years ago but 12 years of going to high school football games to watch my kids in the marching band helped my understand the game better and now I'm hooked

amandasgramma 02-04-2011 08:53 AM

no

nycquilter 02-04-2011 09:08 AM

I sure tried. When my husband and I started dating, he had season tickets to the Jets (also Knicks and Rangers). I accompanied him to home games for years and tried so hard to like them. I understand the games now, but don't get how to like them! I finally begged to be let off of accompanying him--especially because I would sit in really good seats (45 yard line, under cover) and simply go directly to sleep--I loved being a football widow. I LOVED it! now, though, with the new stadium, and the licensing fees of the seats, he refused to renew his seats--after >20 years...so he watches at home and I enjoy sitting by him, doing hand work. But no, I don't like football

Jill 02-04-2011 09:11 AM

I love football and will be sorry to see the season end. I grew up in a sports-minded family and that's all we knew. Married a crazy sports fan, had two sons who grew up to play sports year round, and both had college scholarships in their particular sport. One of them is now married and his DS started playing soccer in the fall.

The Creative Seamstress 02-04-2011 09:15 AM

H. E Double Hockey Sticks - NO! I just went on a rant about this last week with my husband, LOL. I only enjoy the superbowl and any parties I get invited to for the always ever present and delicious tailgate style foods, endless chicken wings, nachos and mexican taco dips that seem to always make cameos at these types of shindigs! So I'm proud to admit that I love the food, but not the football. I'm not a big sports kinda gal - there are only about 2-3 I like. On that note along the lines of the response I already posted, LOL, my husband knows that the only reason I'll go with him to a baseball game is for Beer and Bratwurst, Churros, Overly Buttered and Salty Yummy Popcorn, Corn on a Stick drizzled with butter and cheese and any other type of junky fair type foods I can get my hands on. Fry me up some twinkies!!!!

Explosive blessings, abundance and inspiration to you all!

mayday 02-04-2011 09:25 AM

NO!! HATE it and bowls/cricket/rugger/darts et al !!!!!!!!!!!!

DebsShelties 02-04-2011 09:28 AM

Can't stand Football, especially when the dumb networks start the games late in the afternoon KNOWING full well there is a good chance of them going into overtime, pushing shows that are highly rated to later times shown. Messes up recording times for recorders.
Football, basketball etc can go over to ESPN as far as I'm concerned.

FancyFoot 02-04-2011 10:48 AM

Not really...way to many commercials. It has gotten to be commercials with a few plays in between.

Give me Baseball any day.

Mamagus 02-04-2011 10:54 AM

Well being Canadian... no... it doesn't get my heart a'racing like a hockey game does, but I sure wish my husband liked it a little, cuz I'd love to have a Super Bowl Party with all that food!!!

dixiebelle162002 02-04-2011 10:57 AM

NO, But I have enjoyed attending college games in the past, wearing the orange, doing the wave, and hearing the band etc.

pkary 02-04-2011 11:05 AM

Don't particularly like to watch sports. I was promised, after years of our kids being in EVERY sport, that I would never have to go to another sporting event. Guess what, my beloved grandson, age 7, is on a football team and one extra guess as to who is his biggest fan. Watching 7 year olds who have little idea what they're doing is so much more fun that watching overpaid men!

quilter on the eastern edge 02-04-2011 11:52 AM

Super Bowl Sunday is the one day that my DH dictates the menu for dinner - his Super Bowl Supper. This year we will have veal parmesan, pie and ice cream (the pie and ice cream will be sugar-free). Last year we had ribs. Then we watch the game. He's a real fan but I watch mostly for the commercials. We don't care who wins.

roguequilter 02-04-2011 12:26 PM

smacking on the bum, dancing in the end zone...and all the other big boy silliness....who cares...the more football on the tube the more glued to the tv he is and more time i have to quilt and fondle ....err....play with fabric...:)

hspirit_99 02-04-2011 12:42 PM

i use to be hard core, but now they make tooooooo much money and act like jackasses because they be so rich. sorry but i stopped when they went out on their second strick back in the 80's.

thequiltmama 02-04-2011 01:14 PM

I loved it in high school, because I was a cheerleader and knew all of the players. But now, NO. The only reason I would watch it now is if one of my kids were playing. :-)

quiltlonger 02-04-2011 01:17 PM

I cheer for who ever hubby and kids Don't want, what fun is it if we all want the same team?? Just like Nascar when lots more teams and drivers to pick from!!
