Glad to see that others find that child so obnoxious! Ill mannered, rude and all the things I don't find attractive or appealing in a child. Blame her parents for her behaviour, because children are born with a blank slate, its up to parents to teach them. I caught glimpses of her on some talk shows and was appalled at her antics! I will never watch her program.

marymay 01-02-2013 05:39 AM

I watched this show for 10 minutes and told my DH this"Get that child to my house I will teach her manners. She has a potty mouth and their house is nasty. But then the parents are no better then she is. You learn from your parents. God help her when she grows up. the show (can you read) made me so mad. Can't watch it. This is my feelings on HBB.

You're so right that the reality shows are NOT real. They are staged. If you don't believe me, I have a bridge...well you know the rest of that. And the scariest of this whole thing is that Barbara Walters thinks "Honey Boo Boo" is one of the most interesting people of 2012!!!

Also, I'm tired of any cop/murder/CSI shows. Too much violence. And why do we have so much violence in our society? I'm putting on rose colored glasses and watching Hallmark!

As a retired teacher, just wait'll she hits public school. Whew-ee, I sure would like to see THOSE episodes. I'd have those parents in BEFORE school started with the principal, guidance counselor, and probably superintendent sitting in...oh, and for good measure the school district's lawyer, because that is ONE child that is going to be a HUGE problem. But maybe they'll go the home school route. Just sayin'...

Lady Diana 01-02-2013 06:26 AM

We can only hope that is 15 minutes of fame. This program is deplorable! Pure illiterate trash.

quiltstringz 01-02-2013 06:31 AM

OK - I must be from outer space, I have no idea who this is and after reading just the first couple of posts don't want to. thanks for the heads up so I can avoid this.

chislett 01-02-2013 06:43 AM

This is nothing more or less than child abuse. Remove the child from the home and pray it isn't too late for rehabilitation. Parents are candidates for counselling. However since when do families every move have to be sensationalized for "entertainment". Isn't it common sense to raise children in a safe healthy environment playing and reading etc.

Think You Tube, Facebook, blogs, etc. lots of trash for the world to see. HBB is tame compared to violent and sexualized movies, soaps and TV dramas. HBB will Run its course.

She is precocious for sure and this show portrays a real slice of society that many on this board may not have experienced...esp in light of the "trailer trash" labels mentioned in this thread. Wow!

At least this family/ parental unit is married and the family seems to genuinely love each other and do things together tho their lifestyle may not agree with ours. They look like they are having fun.

The Kardashians are having a sleazier kind of "fun" . Kim is knocked up while still legally married to the football player she duped.. No, i don't watch their show. The pastors' kid, the unmarried Jessica Simpson, is touting the benefits of Weight Watchers while proudly announcing her second pregnancy in her commercial for WW. Hmmmm.

The world is crazy, I agree.
Sandy

They are not married as I understand, they talked about it on one show.

mermaid 01-02-2013 06:56 AM

Of 40 replies to this post, (I counted)....all turned a thumbs down except one person who says she watches it. Like the majority, my time is too valuable to waste on watching/listening to this bratty child who hasn't been reared properly...or who is allowed by her parents to follow the producers scripts...so tell me how it stays on the air???

Yooper32 01-02-2013 07:45 AM

I think that it is demeaning and disgusting and thrives on ignorance. I can't imagine that anyone would want to watch this, much less enjoy it.

I don't spend a lot of time on this show...i admit to watching it at times...There are worse shows and i don't watch them at all. No one else has the nerve to admit to sneaking a peak at HBB. Don't hate me!

mrs. fitz 01-02-2013 09:04 AM

HBB stays on the air because the ratings are high -- people are watching. My guilty secret, I watch Toddlers & Tiaras so had seen her, couldn't believe the mother doing her routines while she was on stage as most pageant moms do, and watched one episode of HBB because I couldn't imagine why anyone would put the whole family on tv. I agree with almost everything said on this thread but want to add two thoughts: I hope they put the $ they're getting to good use, especially an education for the child; they are crude etc. but you get the feeling they all really care for each other and they're a happy family. That can't be all bad.

I was wondering the same thing. Something is not right with her mother. That child is 7 years old and still wearing diapers.

I watched about 10 minutes of this show once to see what is all about. I also watched a few minutes of that Kardashian show, Jersey Shore and Toddlers and Tiaras along with that Dance Moms....
It's like watching a train wreck. I try to avoid watching most reality shows. I do watch a few of them though, ones like Deadliest Catch, American Pickers, Pawn Stars, American Restoration.

For better viewing, Law & Order, SVU marathon on TNT...all new episodes with new cast. Of course, I miss Elliott!!

It's not that much........somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 an episode.

We are now seeing the results of 3 generations of kids who were not taught respect for others or manners in dealing with others. This, as a retired teacher after 38 years, is a such a shame!

This show is right up there with Simpson's in my opinion. Can they not come up with anything more educational than this this 'down home' show??????

meanmom 01-02-2013 03:59 PM

I saw a few minutes of the show as i flipped channels. I think it is awful that our society has sunk so low to actually put that crap on tv and watch it. I also don't see how this repulsive family ever could afford the entry fees and costumes for beauty pagens. I think the department of childrens services should step in and remove all of the children from the home. I am almost embarrased to say I am an American and live in a country that would show this.
I think the quality of TV shows is awful. If they should quit publicizing all the stupid crap that celebrities do. I think it makes it out to be OK to some people and is bringing our society down.
I guess I should get off of my soapbox now. I would love to pull the plug on the tv in my house. My Dh is addicted to TV and won't let me.

quiltinglady-1 01-02-2013 04:13 PM

I find nothing entertaining about watching a spoiled kid on television. I feel sorry for that child.

paulswalia 01-02-2013 04:57 PM

After the shooting in Newtown, CT I started thinking that we have let television dictate to some people what the acceptable patterns of behavior are. We let the Survivor program show how to cheat our way to the top. Housewives type shows show the value of gossip and backstabbing. Honey Boo Boo shows that bad grammar, the inability to speak clearly and public discussion of things better left unsaid are acceptable, perhaps even worth investment. And the plethora of violent movies and weekly shows have desensitized many to violence. We need a public movement to get this stuff out of our homes and work to change the way we think. Just like the anti-smoking campaign has decreased the number of smokers, we need an anti-violence, anti-rudeness, anti-dumbing down of American movement. There, I'll step down off my soapbox now.

LindaJR 01-02-2013 05:08 PM

I loved TLC when it first started and for several years, was educational, informative; a real Learning Channel. I had that channel on or Animal planet a lot back then. I still watch some Animal planet shows, but cannot remember last time I watched a show on TLC. HGTV has gone down too, used to watch it a lot, now maybe once a week, Love it or Leave it. Or if nothing else is on will watch House Hunters or House Hunters international. Is it just me that cannot see the need for big bathrooms? I do not mind small as long as I can bath, eliminate and do makeup. Sorry got off topic. I do notlike Honey Boo Boo or her family from what I have seen on other shows, not funny and I am betting most of it is put-on. They know what they are doing acting dumb and uneducated. They are good actors.

MarleneC 01-02-2013 05:11 PM

I find her and her entire family obnoxious and anytime I see them I switch channels. I am really tired of all these "reality" shows. Pawn shops, loggers, gold seekers, and the list goes on and on.

imnywoman 01-02-2013 05:57 PM

It amazes me that shows like this are on TV. Whose reality is this, certainly not mine or anyone I know. If these types of shows represent the average American, I want to know where they all live, because it's not where anyone I know lives. What a sad reflection of values, or lack thereof and what an injustice to this kid. Along withToddlers and Tiaras, Swamp People, and Hoarders, etc., it's just pure exploitation and as long as people watch it, it will go on. Are you that bored? Ugh!!

AZ Jane 01-02-2013 06:38 PM

LOL, there are days I call the bulldog Honey BooBoo!! Poor Peaches!!

This show makes me so sad. TLC should be ashamed of themselves for tossing $ at this family to make fools of themselves. It doesn't seem to matter to them (the family) that people are laughing at their ignorance, lack of education, & bad manners. Makes me sick to see them on talk shows & how the mother laughs at the child's obnoxious behavior.

I didn't think TLC could reach lower than how they handled "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" but they have succeeded in exploiting these people. I can't believe people find this entertaining.

What's going to happen to Boo boo (Alana) in a cpl. of yrs. when the cuteness wears off & she's left with nothing. I guess people will do anything for money.

earthwalker 01-02-2013 07:50 PM

All a bit sad and pathetic really. Poor little soul hasn't got a hope in Hades of getting out of the same rut her parents are stuck in. Not keen on the idea of underage beauty pageants....smacks of "mothers with unresolved issues" and quite frankly is fodder for some of the sickest members of our society. Must admit, I watch the odd reality show....love Pickers, Swamp People....and the like. Have always enjoyed the quirks and differences amongst people. Be assured America....the rest of us don't judge you on these "reality" shows:)

TanyaL 01-02-2013 08:05 PM

Jan in Va, thank you for the link, and thank you for caring enough to tell us. I am constantly amazed at how many of us do not care or do not believe. I live in a foreign country from the one I was born in and I have never moved! It's very sad.

Mcflower 01-02-2013 10:04 PM

It's good to see that I'm not alone in my bad feelings about Honey BooBoo. It's a crying shame!! Wonder how many other parents and kids out there think they can get a reality show by acting like inconsiderate, rude, fools?

Hmmmm, I'm going to have to correct my friend who is involved in promoting some talented children!! He told me what the salary was as the "producers" were debating on a second season!!

Ok, Ok, I may have to change my screen name to "You Don't Know me"!!! I do watch Toddlers & Tiaras since it began. And to add to my downfall, I was at one of their tapings. The last season finale was taped about 10 minutes from me but I didn't go. Lots of friends did. To explain (or excuse myself LOL), I am a pageant auditor and a pageant judge. Have been for over 15 years. A good friend's daughter was highlighted on one of the shows and they filmed here in my area for the home views. Now, these people are very nice, upstanding people and the child is well rounded, from doing pageants, to cheer, to softball, to hunting with her dad and big brother!! Good student in school and is in church every Sunday...An all around good kid. Her mom did watch the filming closely and when they tried to "stage" a "drama", it didn't happen!! The producers have raised the bar somewhat and are doing better research on the pageant directors. T&T is currently scouting for contestants in our state right now. Oh, and one of the very first contestants they followed is now staring in the remake of The Little Rascals so it does pay off if the parents are discrete. So most of the kids are NOT like HBB but there are a few who will do anything to get their child recognized.

Sorry for my long discourse, just wanted to "explain myself". LOL

MimiBug123 01-03-2013 02:02 AM

I don't think the stupid people realize that the viewers are laughing at them, not with them, as they seem to think. When did being stupid, obnoxious and fat make you a "star"? It glorifies what is wrong with our society. No morals, no manners, no respect, no brains, and the list goes on. I just hope people don't think all people from Georgia are like that. I can assure you that we are not!

callen 01-03-2013 04:58 AM

If we, the viewing public turn these types of programs OFF then perhaps the "powers that be" will finally smarten up & get some decent shows. Who & what made the Kardashians stars? I would like to know exactly what their claim to fame is - does anyone really know? OMG tv is becoming shameful !! Reality - you have to be kidding !!!
