That sure reads like a scam to me.
SCAM!! No question.
Jan in VA |
They should not be asking for your password, so it looks like a scam to me.
Just go to your regular account and see if it needs to be updated. Never, ever go thru someone's email.
Anytime you get an email asking for very personal information, assume it is a scam. Do NOT respond.
Most likely a scam. I received a similar one for my PayPal account and promptly deleted it. Looks like they're getting desperate!!
Definitely a scam.
Without a doubt SCAM. They wouldn't ask your password. anyone can pull the Windows (or any) logo from a website and use it in their e-mail.
To be on the safe side if I were you I'd logon to your hotmail account and change the password. |
SCAM!!!SCAM!!!SCAM!!! NEVER give password or date of birth however 'official' it looks!!
Good idea... on my way to change password now!! :)
SCAM
Definitely a scam. NO ONE asks for your password
scam. Just by logging in it would show your account as active.
They already have your password when you sign up for the account...that is why all email services have the "forgot password?" button.
Don't do it |
SCAM------never give your password
Thanks everyone..my gut told me no but ...then I started wondering if any other hotmail users received it.. probably like 10 gazillion of us LOL
Scam!
Sounds like a scam. I would NEVER send that information in an email. Reputable companies don't send requests for this kind of information.
don't answer it. Scam for sure
Big scam.... They NEVER< EVER ask for your Birth date!!!!
delete, delete, delete. go into hotmail and see if anything like that is there. i bet it isn't. hotmail has been hit hard by scammers. i get emails from fedex and ups too! very irritating!
Don't do it!
Any time you have a question such as this, you can research it through "snopes.com" and it will show what activity is going on in scam departments.
Also if you want to be sure your account is active, NEVER EVER go through an email link...go directly to the website in question. Look on hotmail's main page for a way to report scam/spam/abuse topics. They may request you forward the email to them so they can track it's IP address. Never give your password or other identifying information on a letter/email that is sent to you. Always contact the sender directly through your normal means, do not call any numbers or emails that the sender provides. Banks and credit cards are also being hit really hard right now with scam emails. |

It's someone trying to get your account info, Don't do it.
I'm sure Gmail isn't scam proof but it's my favorite. Had many others, now just Gmail. I've had really good luck with that junk going into my spam box.
Another in a long line of SCAMS.
SCAM RUN AWAY---DELETE DON'T OPEN
scam!
I had an email provider send me an email recently telling me the same thing, EXCEPT instead of replying to their email or sending anyone anything, they asked if I wanted to keep the account active that I log in to the account at some point in the next 30 days. That was all.
Good instincts, mile hi quilter!! |
I also doubt they would give you only 24 hour notice. they want in and out before getting caught so trying to add pressure. LOOK OUT
Scam
don't give out your birth date to anyone. Let them delete it just open a new one up. |
Definitely a scam.
Go to your account site. If it is a real notification, they would have sent the email to your account - NOT to your email address. If you have a REPORT SPAM button, use it now so others can be alerted to this scam.
If it was real they would give you more time to to re-register and when Yahoo updates their service they warn that this will take place 3 or 4 days in advance and that it may cause delays when logging in--I just talked to my Aunt she does the Hotmail and she hasn't recieved that message She suggest you Google Hotmail and check with them BUT DO NOT SEND YOUR INFO to that E/M--- This is most likely a virus
hot mail, aol, yahoo---NONE OF THEM WILL EVER REQUEST YOU TO GIVE THEM YOUR PASSWORD!!! IF YOU RECEIVE ANY EMAIL REQUESTING PRIVATE INFORMATION --IT IS A SCAM!!!---NEVER EVER RESPOND TO SUCH AN EMAIL- BEST TO COPY IT AND FORWARD IT TO YOUR MAIL SERVER SO THEY CAN LOOK INTO IT AND BLOCK IT.
if there is ever reason for you to change your password or any personal information you will receive a legitimate email directing you to go to YOUR ACCOUNT- where you will be able to read any policy changes and make any changes--- it will NEVER BE SENT IN A FORM WHERE YOU WOULD RESPOND WITH YOUR PRIVATE INFORMATION!!! |

Checked on snopes.com and this is definitely a scam.
It's a scam. When you see those, report it to the account managers so they can track those things.
