QuiltE 07-28-2011 05:32 AM

*blink*

Odd that there haven't been any bids yet!
*snicker*

michelehuston 07-28-2011 05:32 AM

Really?!

Kkimberlee 07-28-2011 05:33 AM

LOL! Which college has accepted this person?

Doesn't cost a million to go to UT {that I know of}.

But shipping is free! Isn't that tempting?

If it's really "Grandma-made", I'm sure she's overjoyed that someone's flogging off her lovingly made quilt. But on the other hand if she receives half of the proceeds, I'm sure she wouldn't mind that much any more. :D

LisaGibbs 07-28-2011 05:38 AM

WOW, maybe I should do that only sell one to buy my own house near the lake!!

MTS 07-28-2011 05:41 AM

Newbies.
He could have least included a "Best Offer" option.

He's got a nice sense of humor, and I'm sure it will attract the attention he wants (which was the goal in the first place).

denilynne 07-28-2011 05:41 AM

I think i'll have to pass lol

Alex J 07-28-2011 05:42 AM

WOW, let me go in the back and shake that tree

I don't like the colors, so I'll have to pass, too!

moonwork42029 07-28-2011 05:45 AM

Don't all of your quilts go for that? Man, in Possum Trot that's a low ball bid, lol

wolph33 07-28-2011 06:04 AM

lol-maybe I could sell a few of mine for that price and buy my grandkids homes.gotta wonder what the heck they are thinking, lol

amyjo 07-28-2011 06:07 AM

I would think that there is a type or two of too many zeros. I can't believe that anyone would think they could get that kind of money from a quilt. I know that I read somewhere about one made in Australia I believe that went for over 800,000. But that one was different than this.

b.zang 07-28-2011 06:10 AM

Maybe it's all those uplifting Bible verses that are worth the money!! Blessed be the (wo)man who buyeth this quilt for I am truly blessed.

mscupid804 07-28-2011 06:18 AM

I'm with MTS, he just wants attention. Did any of you notice there was no "visitor counter" display? I'd like to know how many people have actually visited just to look.

jean1941 07-28-2011 06:30 AM

I need one to sale for that price could retire and really enjoy life and quilt all I wanted

BellaBoo 07-28-2011 06:55 AM

All it takes is one bidder. Long before the internet a college kid placed a small classified in several upscale business magazines saying poor college student struggling, please send me just $1 to help me stay in college. The boy received over $2 million dollars and he did finish college.

ptquilts 07-28-2011 07:14 AM

At least they are offering something. On Ebay search bar type in "please help" and check out all the "auctions" where people are just begging for money. Against the rules but people do it anyway.

fabric_fancy 07-28-2011 07:34 AM

how sad that the parents didn't save the 1 million - 1.5 million needed to send their child to college ;)

amma 07-28-2011 07:54 AM

LOL Although it is beautiful... I think I will have to let this one go  :D:D:D

That was a much smarter kid.

He realized it's easier to get someone to part with a buck than the impossibility of anyone spending $1.5mil on this listing.

Sort of like the trading a red paper clip and ending up with a house. ;-)

Genius!

I don't know if he even went to college, but now, according to his CV, he is the world's foremost expert on trading red paperclips for houses.

How many of us can say that?

alikat110 07-28-2011 05:04 PM

I'll make my own, thanks!

DebbyT 07-28-2011 06:08 PM

Asking so much is extreme, saying unsued amount will go to charity. So does that mean the student will get to deduct the extra on the income tax as a contribution? Seems like about at least an $800,000.00 contribution on the taxes. --- Seems this person is looking for a free ride and then some. Remember it is stated that any extra money will go to a charity of "my choice".

Stitchit123 07-28-2011 06:23 PM

Shucks I just blew my life savings at the gas station -

MaryAnnMc 07-29-2011 03:50 AM

Dang, you mean to tell me I could have just made and auctioned a quilt instead of spending three years waiting tables, tutoring, and cleaning houses to put my DD through college?!? NOW you tell me!

ywoodruff5 07-29-2011 04:02 AM

Thanx for the wonderful chuckle for the day....

vickimc 07-29-2011 05:59 AM

if it sells, I might try it. still paying on DS college. like forever.......

Quilt Mom 07-29-2011 06:08 AM

Most likely the Grandmother made it for the student, the student does not appreciate the effort or love that went into the quilt, and years from now the student will regret having sold it. But a million? I have two in college now, and it is not that expensive - unless, of course, the student is studying the art of having a good time!

Becka 07-29-2011 06:09 AM

Lovely. His last sale - a tied Wolf quilt - also Grandma made - sold for $30.

I think he's being optimistic, and/or rates Grandma's work VERY highly :) lol

BluegrassGurl 07-29-2011 06:27 AM

So.... the extra money goes to the charity of her choice.

mmmmmmmm.....I bet "the charity of her choice" is her.

<grin>

joyce j 07-29-2011 06:31 AM

That one really makes me laugh. How can they ask for that much?

mhansen6 07-29-2011 06:53 AM

I know we quilters tend to undercharge for our work, but this is rediculous. All I can say is "Good Luck Sweetheart!"

Quiltbeagle 07-29-2011 07:01 AM

Now, now, everyone...we all know the price of cotton has risen, and after all, she is offering free shipping, LOL!

I needed a laugh this morning and all of your comments about this overpriced quilt have really put a smile on my face! Thanks everyone!

Quiltbeagle 07-29-2011 07:03 AM

...I was just thinking...why dies he even NEED college if he can get a million five for this??? lol

dphelps 07-29-2011 07:08 AM

Geez...I ran out of buried jars just last week. LOL. Do you really think it was meant to be a million, not a thousand? Even then.... Wooooo....

Rann 07-29-2011 07:35 AM

This is the second time he has listed it.

Mona Marie 07-29-2011 08:30 AM

I want about three of them...darn! only one. LOL

Ragann63 07-29-2011 09:32 AM

I can't believe ebay allowed the post to stand!! Too funny...

IBQUILTIN 07-29-2011 09:51 AM

I would say that quilt is one she wants to keep for herself. I wonder if its lined with gold?
