How many of you view the profile of the person posting a thread?

Just curious. I often view the profile of someone posting, especially if I feel I want to know them better. However, I am often disappointed because there is nothing typed in their profile. But look out for me, when you read mine you will know my life history!

BluegrassGurl 03-08-2012 11:50 AM

lol.... same for me. ;)

Hi Bluegrassgurl! I loved reading your profile!! It really puts a personality behind a name! Thank you for letting me know more about you.

mrs. fitz 03-08-2012 12:10 PM

Sometimes I like to read a profile. The only one I really remember seems to have disappeared and I've wondered what happened to her. I recall she was married and had a son named Kenny (I think) who appeared to be in his early 20's. She tied all her quilts. Anyone know who I'm talking about?

QuiltnNan 03-08-2012 01:13 PM

i read the profiles all of the time :)

Sew N Tune 03-08-2012 01:15 PM

Same here bobbielinks. I would look at a few trying to gather more info. on the person, but many have little to share.
Thanks for sharing that with us today.

annthreecats 03-08-2012 01:18 PM

I'm always disappointed when I check the profile and it's empty. Love to read about folks on this board.

Lori S 03-08-2012 01:20 PM

I do wish board members would at least fill in the location part.

Floralfab 03-08-2012 01:48 PM

The truth is I never even think to look at the profiles. Too busy seeing all the beautiful work I guess.

dixie_fried 03-08-2012 02:06 PM

I like to look at profiles. I have to admit though, when I see one that's got very little info, my mind automatically makes up a story about them. "Oh, she's a children's librarian with 3 cats and a doting husband. They live next door to her elderly aunt who she has tea with a couple of times a week. Her quilting is mostly done for charities."

I will go see how much info I left...

Sandra in Minnesota 03-08-2012 02:29 PM

Never thought abut reading the profiles unless I purchase something from them.

IAmCatOwned 03-08-2012 03:13 PM

You know, I do that now and then and thanks for the reminder. I added some to my biography which had been blank before.

judy363905 03-08-2012 03:21 PM

Gosh Bobbielinks, you do very well for someone born in Nov, 2011. How interesting. No, I don't very often read a person's profile, but now I just might. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Maybe I'd better look at mine....probably needs updating.

quiltymom 03-08-2012 04:14 PM

Yes I do too!!!

Sorry, don't know of whom you speak, but you tap dance?!!!! I have never met anyone who tap danced. I bet you have a great time when you get to dance!

Yes, I certainly enjoy the beautiful quilt pictures. But then, I want to know more about the person who put it all together.

Why thank you, I do do very well for someone my age. LOL When the board changed over to the new format a few months ago I noticed that the year had been added to my birth date. I have tried to edit my profile to fix it, but didn't have any luck doing so, so just left it like it was. If you promise not to tell anyone I'll tell you the true year - 1948.

A great profile!!! Very interesting, from roller darby to quilting!! I'll bet the others will go to your profile now, just to find out what I'm talking about. You sound like a fun person!

Wanabee Quiltin 03-08-2012 05:30 PM

never read it, guess you all will read mine now.

I like to think I'm fun!
I mentioned roller derby in a post once before. Either folks aren't sure I was serious or didn't know what I was talking about. I'll make a diagram in case someone is curious.

jeank 03-09-2012 06:00 AM

I often look at the location. If you want your privacy, at least put the state.

I never look at the profiles, they would be blank anyway.

raedar63 03-09-2012 06:01 AM

Yes I read them all the time.

Amythyst02 03-09-2012 07:20 AM

I don't normally check out profiles..but I did fill my out sometime ago. I added a bit to it today, a few updates !

granny5 03-09-2012 07:43 AM

I never looked at profiles, until today. I just went in and updated my info. You are right, it is nice to know something about the person posting. Thanks for the input.

sguillot 03-09-2012 08:21 AM

I added a little to mine yesterday but after reading these comments I think I will add more, it is nice to know something abut those of you who post alot like do you have other interest, do you work full times when do you like to quilt the most, what is your fav color, quilt pattern, etc. I think you get the message.

Interesting thread. I would imagine that many people are like me. I filled in very little when I first joined because I was shy about it as I was very new to quilting. Then under the old system I posted wrong and either had to wait three months or start under a new name. The first few profiles I looked at did not have much more than mine. Since then I haven't looked so have never updated. Maybe you will be an inspiration to a lot of us. Thanks for starting this thread.

Amythyst02 03-09-2012 01:38 PM

I really do not but I may have to start doing that! I did update mine a bit this morning though : )

CAS49OR 03-09-2012 04:17 PM

I don't read their profile, and often don't even look at whom typed what. I feel like these groups are rather impersonal, so maybe that's why. I used to attempt to make a connection online with others that shared same interests, but I guess since the groups were so large I just didn't make a "friend".

Well, I hadn't viewed a profile until you brought it up. The first one I read was yours. LOL
I'm from Missouri too.

traveler53 03-09-2012 07:23 PM

I never read the profiles before, but it will be something I check out from here in. I think I need to add more info to mine. Lol

RobertaMarie 03-09-2012 08:25 PM

Thanks for posting this thread. I do check from time to time and found a few new friends here, and I love meeting new people. You sound like a real "buddy" so you would be one I could add to my list. Blessings, Roberta

Ruby the Quilter 03-09-2012 09:44 PM

I don't look at the profiles either. Need to look at mine and see if it needs anthing else.

Donna H-M 03-10-2012 02:27 AM

I have looked at profiles when doing a swap, to get a feel for that person for my project for them. I also have looked at a few started threads if that person posted something I really like. I get to see pics they posted in the past.

miriam 03-10-2012 04:39 AM

Yes, I read profiles. I customized mine. I had a blast doing it. You can also look in my profile to see posts I have started. Usually I start some sort of post about sewing machines

coachmatthewsvhs 03-10-2012 05:11 AM

I never have..... but think now I'll need to add another 1/2 hour a day on the board to catch up!!!!

quiltingfan 03-10-2012 06:14 AM

HAHA I just looked at mine because I was curious to see what I had written. I was born in 2009... I FEEL YOUNG !!!! YAyyyy When I have more time this afternoon will go and check yours out so that I can get to know you better and will refresh mine and give more info. Thanks for posting this. would love to get to know everybody better. Beth
