I have my thick, wavy hair cut every 4 weeks and pay $28. A friend told me she never pays more than $12. Am I paying too much? No, because I finallly found someone who does a great job. A woman I used to work with drove to NYC, spent the night in a hotel and spent $600 to have her hair cut by some "famous" stylist. It looked like her 4 year-old cut it! What does a haircut cost in your area?

I get a wash, cut and style for $20 from a great lady here.
|
$38.00 every 4 weeks and worth every penny...can fix my hair in 5 minutes and it looks great every day. My big vanity...hair looking good!
|
Depending on where you go, anywhere from $15 to close to a $100 for a cut and blow dry. Mine is usually $30.
|
I had my cut at Clip and curl today and it was $11. Looks pretty good too. I use to go to the beauty school and have it done for $14. and you get what you pay for......I usually came home and sniped it here and there. I found a lovely young lady today. I'm going to try to keep her. She did a perm for me about five weeks ago and it was the best I've had in a long time. Blessings, Ruth

My hair cuts, color and the cuts for my DH and DD are FREE!
I do them all! (Yes, even my own). I've done my own since I was went to cosmetology school. I did have someone cut my LONG hair off when I had it done on TV and donated to Locks of Love, but even that was free. I think the price you pay for having someone to do your hair just the way you like it especially being thick and wavy may be high for some, but if you like the results that is what counts. Thick, wavy hair is not easy to cut and lay right. |
Back in the day when I was in the corporate world I used to go to the salon downstairs from my office and get my hair cut, styled and colored every 3 weeks by Oscar. He liked to create and I had no say so what so ever in what he did but my hair always looked great and I always got a neck message as a bonus. I spent at least $130 each time I went. Now I go for a $20 quickie trim up and just let my grey hair be what it is. Oscar would have a fit if he saw me now but I'm free to quilt every day in my PJ's if I want, so who cares!

50 bucks for the works ,shampoo, color/highlights,cut style. 10 for a trim ,13 for a cut This is on the cheap end in town they charge 85-100, I can do with out the fancy schmancy for that savings lol'
I have crappy hair anyway, thin and limp I paid the big bucks a couple times I sure didn't see any diffrence. Before I became dedicated to the girl I go to now I would just drop in to greatclips, procuts, walmart etc, bout 12.00 bucks at these places just for a cut. |
Around here a good cut is around 30-35.
I've been growing mine for Locks of Love so just run up to Great Clips for trims now. My sister gets a cut and color every 5 weeks, and it's about 60 I think. |
I pay $105 every 5 weeks for cut & root touch up. I think the cut alone is $50. That's not too bad of a price around here.
|
Last time DD and I went it was about $30 apiece. She was not too crazy about her cut, but I got the best cut I ever had. This was a place with real, professional stylists who have been in the business long enough to be quite experienced. Not fancy-schmancy, just very good at what they do.

$22.00 plus tip is average.

http://www.sallyhershberger.com/salons.html She's famous for Meg Ryan's shag cut years ago. The most I ever spent was at Frederic Fekkai. It was a lot of shekels. A lot. But it was also the best haircut I've ever had, and the cut was so good it lasted for months. ;-) But those are NYC prices. But I've also had it cut and highlighted for $100 in NYC. Go figure. <shrug> |
I wore my hair long most of my adult life so only got a cut every year, give or take. I found a salon where I pay $38 for a cut and $50 for a cut and blow-out. I have slowly let her cut it shorter and shorter and have layers for the first time in 30 year. A great cut and appropriate for the type of hair I have (fine and naturaly curly). I figure I saved enough money over the years to splurge now. By the way, that goes for shoes and clothes, too:)
|
Gaga, I live in your neck of the woods, and I usually pay $15 and a tip. I figure that's about max for me. I usually have trouble getting a good haircut, also - always have. But if it's done badly, I don't go back there.
|
The place we have gone to for years only charges $8.00 for cuts. I always give her $10. My hair cuts are very simple and don't take more than 15 minutes at the most. I color my own hair though. DD gets a perm at the same place and I think she pays about $30 for it. DD has very long and thick hair also.
|
After we moved here I spent 7 years looking for someone who could cut my difficult hair correctly.
I finally found someone in 2005! Before I started coloring it, it cost $45 for a wash, cut & style every 4 weeks. With the coloring, I now pay $85 every 4 weeks for color, wash, cut & style. And worth every penny to get a great haircut! :) |
Wash, cut and blow dry $7.50 at the beauty school. $15 if you go to a regular beauician here in town.

Thick, wavy hair is not easy to cut and lay right. Me too! I've cut my own hair and my husband's for over 30 years. Hair color costs me about $8 (Nice & Easy) about once a month. When my kids were home I cut thier hair on Thursday evening, the boys brought thier friends too. I saved a bunch doing my family's haircuts (the dogs too)!   |
$40 for the cut, its a good one and it lasts about 8 weeks. I have oddly wavy hair (its different textured in different areas) and the good cut saves me a lot of time styling and it looks nice and flatters me.
I started letting her color it too rather than doing it myself, so its an additional $60, so I pay $100 total. She waxes my eyebrows for free. |
I pay $12.00 for wash cut and style here.

And worth every penny to get a great haircut! :) If I could find just the right stylist, I would pay whatever was asked for. As it is, I have an adequate stylist and pay $25. I gave up on colour. |
No $28 seems reasonable especially since you have curly hair. DH colors my hair. I went to about a hair cut a year because of the economy.
|
I pay about $30 for a hair cut and blow dry. When I get my highlights, the total is $80. I use to go every 5 weeks but now strreetchhhh that out. My hair has always been fine and flat so when I find someone who does it good, I tend to stick with her. My hair has gotten better with "age" "like a fine wine". It's all the gray which gives it body but it's colored blonde!! LOL
I live in our Capital city area so you can get an $8 H/C or a $250 H/C. :) |

for my wash and wear hair its $13 (plus tip) every 5-6 weeks
|
I pay $25 including tip. I have natural wavy hair and this cut is cheap. Thank God I finally found someone who knows what she is doing. It is worth the price when it is done right. Every 5-6 weeks.
|
I usually pay around $28 her in Australia for a cut and blow dry.
|
I also have very difficult hair to cut. Very thick, coarse and curly. It's very hard for me to find someone who not only knows how to cut my type of hair but also wants to cut it! I've had beautitians complain nonstop about my hair so I never went back to them. I have one lady now that's been doing my hair for 14 years and she's really good. $28 plus I give her either a 20 or 25 percent tip depending on how long she spends on my hair. She spends at least an hour, sometimes more. Thats just cutting and styling. But, she has to throughly wet my hair first and shampoo it afterwards. When it's cold she blow dries it at no extra charge. But I tip well for a job very well done.

Oh this is a funny topic, it makes me chuckle. We are forever looking for the perfect cut, then the styles change if we do find it. I used to go every three weeks, then retired and only work part time so I now go 4 weeks between, and color every other time. Cut is $16, cut and color I think is about $60, but I only do a full head of high lights not a full color. I think it blends better with my hair color and grey. haha Oh tip is extra on top. I have that thin limp hair, and only like the feel right after the color it plumps up a little.
|
I have been going to the same person at Great Clips for 3 years. I think the price is $13 and I always give her a $5 tip because she does such a great job and takes her time to get it short enough for me.
|
Free....I've cut my hair, my husband's, kids and grandkids forever, even though I never had any training.
I hate to think what a professional beautician would think if they ever took a close look at us...lol....although our haircuts don't seem to scare the neighbors. |
When I was working in the entertainment industry in NYC, I usually paid about $125 for a haircut at Kenneth Salon. And that was 25-30 years ago. Now, living a much simpler life with long straight hair, I go into my bathroom, part my down the middle and *SNIP* -- Free! The clippings go into the compost pile.
|
$20 - $35 depends on the person who does the work.
|
I have had the same stylist for years and she is great. I have a cut, retouch and blow dry about every 6-8 weeks and it is around $150. Stylist lets me know when there are specials so I get a break.

If you like the hair cuts you are getting now...stay with
them as I don't feel like $28.00 is too much. They are normally $35.00 to $40.00 here, you can find cheaper but probably wouldn't like them. |
Again, just compare our prices: The average price for a woman's haircut regardless of length) is $30 - $38. If you go to a big city it is generally $40 - $100. Consequently, I cut my own.
If you get colour it is $60 - $150, depending where you go. Men's haircuts are about $10 - $15. My hair is the length of a man's but can't convince them to give me a cheaper price. |
I had a really bad hair disaster with some one, a professional, who I would have called a friend. After a year of her caring for my hair for free, I needed to make a change and stop the coloring. I now have been going to a gal who rescued me from a life of coloring, burned ends and boring cuts. I pay $45 every 6 - 8 weeks and I love my beautiful long healthy silver gray hair with an up to date cut. It is my crowning glory! Bless this gal for her skills. I may cringe at the price but, it is worth it all when I can step out confidently and know at least my hair is ... "Look'en good".
|
I usually pay $60. and I just love my cut but, can't afford him every month!!!!! Wish I could.
