I use newspapers--the comic sections do really well.

I've used newspapers to wrap large presents; also, plastic garbage bags! I've sewn gift bags. My favorite tho was for a baby shower gift...used a brown paper grocery sack and used craft paints to write "baby" and other sayings on it and made a bow of multi-colors of curling ribbon. It turned out really cute & the mom-to-be loved it since they were really into recycling.

I LOVE IT!!! I save wrapping paper & gift bags and have often used strip scraps for ribbons & bow. WAY TO RECYLE!!

I think it's fun to use the comics out of the paper to wrap gifts in. The kids get a kick out of it and so do the adults....crafty_linda_b

Great thrifty and ideas coming through here. I've also save those past received boxes. One year my daughters favorite moccasins got so worn out, I got her a new pair for Christmas. She she saw the box she was so delighted, then her face sagged and she said, oh, you reuse boxes. She was so thrilled to find a new pair inside that old box.

I wrapped 2 lids and 2 box bottoms very nicely back in 1993. I put gifts into these boxes every year and after the gift is opened, I take the boxes back, put them in storage and use them again! It's kind of funny!! They're still in great shape and they're 18 years old! How is that for "recycling" (not being cheap, though!!)?

When I give DH a birthday card or an anniversary card, or Valentines card, I make sure not to seal the envelope. I just tuck the flap in. He opens the card, puts it on the shelf for a few days to admire, (he really never looks at it again). I pick up the envelope and put it away.

A few days later, I clean up, take the card and put it away with the envelope. Three or four years later, I give him the same card again. He would never remember having the same card as a few years ago. I just keep rotating the same cards over and over again.
