I can't speak to the kindle, but I have an iPad and I love it. I use the kindle app and the nook app, but I get most of my books through the library on the overdrive app. I still have my nook for when I want to read outside (it's non-glare).

Bought DH a Galaxy tab 4 7" tablet. It is the same size as a paperback book for holding, can use sd card, internet. You can change font and color background for reading, but do not know if you can read outside as he sits in his chair to read. Says he could not go back to a regular book now, and didn't know how he got along without it for so long. Have become a tablet widow. lol

My DH has two Ipads and he loves them. I don't care for them much at all. I prefer my laptop. I don't find the Ipad as easy to navigate as I do my laptop. I would try them out before you buy anything, they are $$$.

I, too, have the Samsung Galaxy tablet - android platform. I can go anywhere online; order either paid or free books and read them; have all my email accounts (yes, multiple!); can get to my cloud-stored documents; take photos. Will do it all, really - BUT it only has a wifi connection. I did not want another bill either. I have a very limited data plan on my phone (and I really didn't want that but had to for several reasons). But I can take my tablet to any location that has wifi available and do anything online that I might need. I bought it for business purposes so I did not need to be chained to my computer all day. I can be out and about and if I need to access something online to resolve business issues, it's easier than trying to manage all of that on my phone. Have never used an Ipad so can't offer an opinion on those.

I have an iPhone, iMac, and iPad. I love them all. I find I use the iPad a lot more than I use the computer anymore. I am considered "elderly" and have no trouble navigating.

iPad. I have both, but only use the iPad for accessing the internet (except for downloading books).

I use an iPad with WiFi to do Quiltingboard (post pictures) YouTube, Missouri Star Quilt co. videos, send and receive email, Face time, Facebook and games. The iPad is not for printing unless you have an air printer. |
I have a first generation iPad and a recent iPad mini. The mini is great. The original actually got kind of heavy when reading a book, and even though the mini has a smaller screen, it's still perfectly fine for videos.

I have an iPad and love it. Didn't want to purchase another specific printer, so i email whatever i want to print to myself...then go to my old desktop and print as usual with the desktop computer that is hooked up to my old printer...works every time. But you must have that old standby computer and printer and they must be synced to your iPad.

I have an iPad 3, and my hubs has a Nexus 7 tablet.
The tablet has is smaller (7"), where my iPad 3 is about 10". My hubs gave about $250 three (3) years ago for his tablet. However my iPad was almost free (was given to me by the "other" Louise (step-MIL), it was my payment for doing some sewing work for her. Both are capable of internet, but you need to at least have Wi-Fi available. |
