They are benign - won't hurt plants etc. I had so many at my front door it was hard to get in. And they were on top of each other doing the hokey pokey if you get what I mean. I finally did use bug spray and that got rid of most of them.

Those are love bugs.
They are annoying and when they start mating and flying around then it is worse. Then they die and stick to everything permantly. Down here in Alabama they start in early May. They are impossible to remove from your car when they die and stick to it. |
Ithink it is a Japanese Beetle, they like all kinds of new plants and veggies. Try putting a Dryer Softner Sheet in your pocket or tucked into your neckline. Works really well

Up in Michigan, the June bugs are HUGE and are out now...I agree with the person who said that they hit the window like a rock and just keep buzzing.
It also is not a stink bug...they do not have any red on them...brown instead and bigger. Glad they are in your area...we have plenty of other bugs up here to "bug us." |
I thought it was a lightening bug, but that's how much i know. And our june bugs are fat and brown.

Boy do they look yucky, something everyone wants flying around them. You must be like me, I'm a bug magnet, anywhere, anytime, any place. People liked to sit next to me at my son's baseball games because the bugs left them alone, because they were after me (guess I'm pretty sweet too). I've heard that the Off in the container you put around your waist works, but I don't have any personal experience with it. Good luck. My neighbor used to wear a hat with some type of screening, but I think that would be hot to wear. Hope you find something that works.

Who would have thought there were so many kinds of stink bugs. I was curious and went googling. Ours is actually a Pinacate Beetle, commonly called a "stink bug" or even called a "clown beetle".
