I quit but I can't tell you the exact date. I smoked for 45 years.

Congratulation. Way to go. I am a victem of second hand smoke and now have asthma. All those years of working in a smoke filled office. Glad things have changed

Congrats to everyone who has quit.

I quit on February 4, 2009 because my boyfriend told me he would marry me if I stopped... been happily married since August 29, 2009. He wanted to make sure that I had really quit smoking.

He did just that, however, since he was a waste-not want-not guy (who very very seldom put a cigarette in his mouth) finished smoking all the throw aways so, of course, nothing went to waste. OOPS, That second to last sentence is soooooooooo wrong. I am still alive and it was my DH who got MS and passed away. Yep, still miss him.

I quit January 1, 2001 for good, after several tries at
quitting. My last chest xray showed my lungs are totally
clean. Best thing I ever did.
Congrats to all who finally quit.

Congratulations to all the quitters on here.
I had my last cigarette in August 1999.
Had my last alcoholic drink on 30th Sept 2006.
So glad I did as it now means I can afford to buy fabric to feed my latest "addiction".
