I hope everyone is doing well. I am down only about 2 - 3 lbs so far. It is better than going up. Today I am babysitting my youngest grand daughter. She just will be 5 mos old on the 27th. Her mamma is a teacher in a T-K class.
My next grand is due March 3. Beth will need a C-Section so that means for a couple of weeks I will have Faith more as well as Naomi and Caleb while their mother recovers. It ought to be interesting.

I had my last session with my PT. He is going to request more. I see my Dr on Monday. I asked him if I can start walking around the block yet. He said no. I can ride an exercise bike or do a little work on an elliptical(I don't have access to one of those) but no walking where I can't immediately stop when the foot starts to hurt. :(

I do get to go to Road to California Quilt show tomorrow. I am going with 4 other friends and they will take turns pushing me around in the wheel chair. It should be a fun day!

Hahahah see you at the Road to California. Well maybe not since I do not know who to look for but I will be out there with one of my daughters and a friend.

Oh does this count as working out? I'll be wandering the halls from 9 aM to 6 PM. LOL No I still did not make it out to the exercise place.

I'm having a colonoscopy in the morning, haven't had solid food for 3 days; if the scale doesn't move in the morning I should probably give up.

But I know I'll just try harder. I want to start a new quilt - I've got the bug again.

Oh do not give up, it will go up. Sometimes the best I can do is stay the same or at least not gain too much. Best wishes.

My weight loss has stalled as well...

Must be a take your daughter to orthopedics week. My daughter tore her muscle loose in her knee and needs surgery.

I'm having mixed feelings about weekend meals. I generally do well throughout the work week, amazingly. Meal planning just seems like part of the work I need to do. So I cut veggies for lunch salad and do pretty good with supper as well.
The problem is that I get lazy on the weekends about what I eat. I don't care as much, and since I am home, I eat and snack more. My husband would like to "do good" all week, then have goodies and pizza on the weekend. It's not that awful of a concept, and we have done well in past years with that plan. But now that I am older and have a more sedentary job, I'm not sure it is going to work.

What about you? Any weekend meal issues?

Jcarpentier 01-23-2016 05:21 AM

Oh yes. Weekends are the worst for me. Also, I tend to forget I need to eat lunch and don't plan them. Maybe try to make things ahead of time for the weekend? Like when you are making stuff for meals on the weekday just put a little extra for the weekend too. You could let yourself have a treat on the weekends but don't over indulge. There is a balance and to be honest I struggle with it.

Here are some tips on how to burn more calories. I found some of them quite helpful.

I missed my spinning class 2x this week. I went this morning, it is amazing how much I lost in only a week. My SIL dad was in the hospital so I had the grandkids several evenings. This interfered with my classes. I rode 22 miles this morning in an hour. Then I did all of the exercise machines. I can feel it in my shoulders. Then I went and spent the whole day at the mall. I have a new Apple computer and since I ran an update this week it has't been working right. It is all better now. I got a nice pair of black boots, up to my knees and 3 sweaters for $68. Love clearance racks and coupons. I are lunch at a sushi restaurant. OMG was it good, probably kinda high in calories. Hopefully I can get back on my exercise schedule this week.
I have troubles with my food choices on the weekends. Too many yummy temptations around here. Also in school I can't eat whenever I want. My Dh is bugging me for a Lemon Meringue pie. I will probably make one tomorrow. He will eat most of it. I have been hungry for pizza. I was thinking of making one tomorrow.

Leann 01-23-2016 03:55 PM

Thanks Anna. And you're right, I can't give up. I'd weigh 200#! But my current situation is definitely testing the calories in/calories out. Maybe that is just a theory? lol After the cleanse and prep for my colonoscopy my weight increased 2#. I was told the day after the procedure I'd be able to get back to my normal routine. I wish. But I am hoping that by Monday I'll be better. Mom told me it affected her the same way.

I hope everyone is safe. Quite the weekend for bad weather.

pinkflowers 01-23-2016 04:17 PM

Thanks for link to southbeachdiet.com. The tips are good. I'm all for the sleeping one!

Pam H 01-23-2016 09:29 PM

Lynne, I can't believe you gained with the prep for your colonoscopy. Sounds like it does run in your family though. I was wondering how many calories you are allowing yourself each day. Maybe your body has gone into starvation mode. You probably don't want to hear this but I lost 5 lbs with my prep. Right after that I started the Daniel Plan 10 day cleanse and lost another 5 lbs in 10 days. That's why I had such a good loss for December. As soon as I added dairy and grains back my weight loss slowed way down.

meanmom 01-24-2016 04:44 PM

I made some delicious homemade bread today. It has dried blueberries, cherries and apricots in it. I ate way, way too much of it. That many carbs will kill any weight loss I have going. It made a huge loaf. I am going to put some in the freezer. Hopefully my DH will continue to pig out on it so it will be gone.

Susanna10 01-25-2016 11:06 AM

I think I can smell your bread from here. My husband is the cook in our household and he likes to make cookies and very high sugar, white flour treats and then leave them laying around. Of course, I have to eat them. The freezer does not help. I can eat them frozen.

She is not the only one. I also gained and I was on a roll before it. It took me awhile to get back in the groove. I did not eat anything extra either. Maybe my body was just conserving?

Just reading about it is making me hungry. I have saliva running in my mouth. Hahahaha...

Jcarpentier 01-25-2016 03:34 PM

Hey everyone. Lots of stress here. I either forget to eat or eat too much. Can't win.

meanmom 01-25-2016 03:44 PM

I have one month of FQ from Gail G and 3 months from, meanmom, Leann, Anna Quilts, Jims Gem, Susanna10, JCarpenter, Lucky_alf2. If I have missed anyone please let me know. I know there are some still coming in the mail.

I took a landscape quilt class a couple of months ago. The instructor was an art professor, not a seamstress. She taught the class from a different perspective than someone who sews. I really enjoyed it. I changed this a took it apart several times. I made the boat out of wood veneer and model magic. It is a half of a boat. I am really happy how it came out. Not sure why the picture is sideways.

Pam H 01-25-2016 09:51 PM

That is really cool, Pat. I'm glad you said it was sideways because I really couldn't figure it out. LOL Did you dye the fabric or paint it or something? I love the shades of blue.

I really like it! Before you said it was side ways I already liked it. Hahahahaha I thought very artsy but now I see the boat is pretty realistic when you look at it side ways. The class sounds great too. Keep those creative juices flowing. The colors are amazing.

pinkflowers 01-26-2016 02:43 PM

Very interesting, and cool. I had to tip my head and look for more than just a sec to appreciate. The background has some sort of land mass, yes? Will you have any trouble with hanging it?

Oh no! I know, life can surely dampen our ambitions to eat right. Stay positive, and start fresh each day.

I mailed three months of delicious FQ fabric that is worth not eating that cookie for! Good luck everyone!!

Jcarpentier 01-28-2016 11:24 AM

Hey all. A bit better on the stress front but not much. I caught a nasty cold! At least I don't have an appetite...

Jeanette Frantz 01-28-2016 03:56 PM

I was way heavier than I should have been, but in October 2015 I fixed that -- not a good way to do it, but I lost 35 pounds when I had pneumonia -- I had a reaction to an antibiotic overdose and couldn't eat solid food without getting sick! I have gained back 2 pounds since October and I don't want to gain back any more! I'm trying to be careful so that I don't gain any more, or lose any more either. Losing more would be bad, according to my pulmonary physician!

Leann 01-28-2016 08:04 PM

Susanna I cracked up at your comment! I'm like you - nothing is safe from me in the freezer. I used to think things were until I told my mom to put her Girl Scout cookies in the freezer to save them and she laughed and said she could eat them frozen. Wish she hadn't old me that.

All my success went down the drain with my peek-a-boo procedure and I'm gearing up for February. Have started riding my bike again which will also test the allergy stuff my DR has me on. No symptoms for over a month now.

I suspect we will see some impressive loses for January.

meanmom 01-28-2016 08:26 PM

No impressive loses for January here. Chocolate is too good of a friend to me. I am down some but not enough to win. But down is good. I have been thinking about adding a water aerobics to my routine. I haven't actually made it there yet. I actually dug out my swimsuit tonight and almost put it on to go. But I got lazy and skipped it. Leann, putting things in the freezer does help me a little bit only because my freezer is down in the basement and I am often too lazy to go down there to get the goodies. But I can eat almost anything froze too.
There is another meeting tomorrow for my kindergartener. This is to discuss the behavior improvement plan that we created. HA HA! No one involved really expects it to work, it is just a formality to show that they have tried everything. Half of the problem is that she truly is possibly bi-polar and her other problem is mom. Rudest child I have ever met.

Pam H 01-28-2016 09:27 PM

I have perfected my own style to eat frozen cookies. I hold the cookie to my mouth and exhale through my mouth on each bite. Works great! We are quite the group.
I received the black/whites from my December winnings. I love each and every one of them! Really makes me want to use them right away. Thank you, everyone.

Annaquilts 01-28-2016 11:36 PM

Unfortunately I can eat anything frozen also and not just cookies.

Ok that's me too. And right now, I am thinking about ice cream. Even with the temp in the 20's outside!

meanmom 01-29-2016 05:45 PM

It is never too cold for ice cream. Pink flowers I received your 3 FQ today.
We had a meeting today to discuss a behavior improvement plan for my kindergartener. OMG! It was scheduled for 45 minutes. I was only there the first 30- it lasted over 2 hours. Mom makes excuses for everything she does. Mom says she doesn't know what we want her to do. Says she is confused. OMG, really! Does she really not understand that it isn't OK to tell your teacher" who in heck do you think you are telling me what to do, I'm going to kick you butt." "Quit telling me what to do or I will kill you." Then she punches her hand with her fist. Very little was decided in the meeting but the director of special ed asked to borrow my notebooks where I keep notes on her. Curious to hear what she says after reading then.
I came home and ate Cheeto's. GRRR! not a good choice. I will go to spinning class tomorrow and hopefully work it off. Hopefully I will have time to do the weight machines.

Jcarpentier 01-30-2016 05:35 AM

Hey everyone. I am not sure if I lost anything as I haven't weighed myself lately. Tomorrow will tell! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Irishrose2 01-30-2016 02:06 PM

Nothing wrong with Cheerios if you don't eat the whole box full. Sometimes only crunchy will do after a frustrating situation and Cheerios have to better than potato chips. They actually sound good and now they are gluten free. I didn't sign up this month. My weight is exactly the same as last month, which means I didn't gain back the five I lost in December. I'll settle for that.

meanmom 01-30-2016 04:30 PM

http://www.quiltingboard.com/general...ml#post7451094. I just posted the new thread. Don't forget to go over there and sign up. Also don't forget to PM me your loss for January. Healthy eating and good luck.
Pat

meanmom 01-30-2016 04:39 PM

It has been a long day already. I was in the gym at 7:30. I did some of the weight machines before spinning. Then spinning class, I ride 22 miles today, then finished lifting. I went to one grocery store and came home to put it away. Then off to the LQS to show off my Landscape quilt. Then I headed to Costco. It was so crowded. Now the grandkids are here. Not sure how long they will be here. My daughters' Father in Law went to the hospital 2 weeks ago with pneumonia. They didn't like something they saw on the X-ray so they looked further. They found he had cancer of the appendix. It has spread into his abdomen and very small spots in his lungs They were going to put a port in for chemo today but he collapsed on Thursday and they thought the pneumonia was back. The tumors in his lungs have grown a lot so now they are talking about bringing in hospice. He has had several transfusions and they aren't sure what is going on there. I don't have a lot of confidence in the hospital he is in but not sure it is going to make any difference. He did see a specialist somewhere else last week.
If I disappear for a few days it is because of this. SO I could be late responding to the winner and PM"s
Pat

meanmom 02-04-2016 05:01 PM

The winner for January is Jcarpentier with a loss of 7.5 pounds. congratulations.

pinkflowers 02-06-2016 06:45 AM
