BTW, we have boxers, also!! Aren't they the greatest dogs!!! I was raised with a boxer and have always been partial to them--GREAT dogs! There are a few veggies that you need to stay away from, too...dble check. She is not on the Warfarin, because she has a Lupus factor in her blood and that drug doesn't work with it. She has been having to give herself shots of a very pricey drug...can't remember the name for the life of me...sorry. |
They have a new drug that takes the place of Warfarin which is really rat poison. My mother was on it and they tried to put my dad on it after a mild heart attack and he refused! Warfarin made my uncle bleed to death finally. It is a dangerous drug. My dad was put on Plavix instead over 6 years ago and he's been fine. I hope you do fine and heal quicky but please ask them about alternatives to warfarin.

Wow someone is definitely watching over you my dear, its very hard for people to find out they even have blood clots without a battery of tests. Thankfully they stayed in the lungs which was able to give you warning signs, but they could have easily moved to the heart or the brain. I know being on Warfarin or Heparin isn't the most pleasant thing to have to do but its better than the chance of having another round with them.
It's important for all to know when your on very long airplane rides - whether or not your in business or economy class you need to get up and move around the cabin. You need to help keep the blood flowing through the body or you run a risk of developing blood clots. There are numerous medical studies that have proven that the risk of getting blood clots during or after a flight is dramatically increased. |

There is a new anti-clotting drug called pradaxa that does not require all the monitoring like coumadin does. The shots were probably lovenox and they are very pricey.
Those on blood thinners need to be very cautious about bumps and bruises, etc. Good health to all! Debbie |
