Well it has come, my last day at the job I have held for the last 13 years. These last six weeks (since I learned I would be loosing my job) has been pretty tough. But the last week has been the worst.

Saying goodbye to my clients has been the hardest. I know they are not going to get the care and help I have given them for last 13 years and it worries me. I have been told by everyone that I shouldn't give it a thought, it was not my idea to do this and they will be just fine. Yesterday I had to fax my open issue to the agency who is taking over for ours and my hands shook as I pushed the submit button. :( :( :(

Well I have to go now I know this will be an emotional day and I will be ok. I have alot to look forward to, no job though. But I will be able to finish a bunch of UFO's and that really makes me happy. I also signed up for the One Block Wonder tutorial that Cutebuns is doing. Check that out.

Well I just wanted to get this off my chest. My DH is a great guy but I don't think he understands, I think it is a "girl" thing. Thanks for listening and sorry it was a bit of a bummer.

You all have a blessed day.

Denise :)

Denise, I am so sorry about your job loss. I can relate. I did home visiting with at risk children for 15 years and was laid off the end of July. You will never forget your clients and they won't forget you or your kindness. I had a rough time the last week too. I told my boss I think it would have been better to tell me an hour before closing on Friday that I was laid off starting then. LOL

I don't think it's a girl thing. It's a "I really care about my job" type of thing. This Sunday, I will be here on the job for 27 years. The company, and the work I do, are so much a part of my identity, I'd be devestated if I was laid off. Sure, I'll recover but it would be a major blow.

I know it's tough out there, finding another job, but best of luck to you!

Denise sorry to hear about your job. I know that once you have been working somewhere for a number of years your co-workers, clients, etc become more than just that. It is a type of family relationship even if the dynamics are different. Good Luck in whereever life takes you now, challenges are given to us to make us strong and I do believe that we are not given more than we can handle, but sometimes it seems we are pushed to the limit

My thoughts and prayers are with you today. I know from what you say that your clients received the best of care and will always remember you.

I know today will be difficult. There's a lot of disappointment in what you are facing. It's good that you are finding some things to look forward to. Do something special for yourself this weekend, and keep posting here your progress on your quilts. Take care!

So sorry you've joined the ranks of the jobless. It really gets old fast, applying for jobs that don't really exist, but fill your inbox with spam.

A suggestion or two - get an e-mail address exclusively for job hunting, try to make sense of all the contradictory advice about resume writing, and set up specific alerts on the job sites.

One part time office job I interviewed for last week had 300 applicants. The ad was up for 24 hours! You don't list your state or region, but here in Florida, we are hurting! The only reason our unemployment rate is not higher is because folks are fleeing the state.

I'm so sorry to hear about your job loss...that is really hard to deal with. Not a "girlie thing" at all, after all, its part of your identity. My heart goes out to you today.
