I am very odd, my late oldest Sister told me that years ago. I have no heart throbs or whatever, never did. Was married young and never looked at men that way. Still married to the same guy 56 years later. It is not for me. I am not against it for others.

hybearn8er 07-28-2018 08:04 PM

Well I have to say my first was John Wayne then Robert Mitchum, Sam Elliott,Dean Martin,Peter Noone,Tim Magraw. Anna

quiltingcandy 07-28-2018 08:36 PM

So many but my very first TV heart throb was Edd Byrnes from "77 Sunset Strip", and for the movies it was Clark Gable. Music it was The Beatles - all 4 of them. Then it was David McCallum from "The Man from UNCLE" who stole my heart.

:)Good to know I am not the only one who thinks like that!

Wanabee Quiltin 07-29-2018 04:37 AM

I fell for John Saxon hard, thought he was just gorgeous. There weren’t many I had a crush on, James Darren in the Gidget movies. I remember my mother having a big crush on Dean Martin, her eyes just glowed when she watched him, then it was George Clooney, in her 80’s.

SusieQOH 07-29-2018 05:27 AM

I've seen Sam Elliott a lot here. My sister is wild about him! She also loved Steve McQueen. We laugh b/c we never like the same guys.

I'm enjoying all your answers! :)

Jingle, not odd at all. You always tell it like it is. And that's the way you feel. Period!

Right now I'm on another kick- I love the guy who plays Thomas in Downton Abbey. He's not very likeable but I like him a lot. He's so handsome, too! :)

Oh, Patrick Swayze was ohhhh soooo hot! Poor guy died way too young.

Battle Axe 07-29-2018 05:28 AM

I'm a little like Jingle. I never wanted something that I was quite sure I could never get, so celebrity heart throbs were not on my plate. I've always felt that in every woman's life there is one guy that she would do anything for. Well, this one was in my class. Every girl wanted him. I refused to go to Sunday School because he was in there and there were about 9 girls that were just fawning over him constantly. I could not stand it.

We grew up and married others. Then when he was a washed up drug addict and I was a successful artist, we re-connected. I asked him if he would like to come live with me and run some of my businesses. That in itself was a huge mistake, but I was thrilled to have him in my life. He used me like a back door rug and it cost me but.....

He refused to live with me, and everything I did for him wasn't good enough, but he was furious if I refused him anything. Turns out he was the biggest hypochrondriac, selfish man on Earth. I helped him establish a business and then had to help him out all the time. If he helped me, he would charge me for it. I look back and wonder about my sanity.

Then one day, after he had moved into another place, his clients called me. They could not get him on the phone, but he was notorious for losing the phone. So I drove down there. I found him dead on the floor of the living room. It looked like he was sitting in his chair and then got up and only made it half way across the room, went down on all 4's and rolled over dead.

I did CPR until the paramedics got there, but they said he had been gone for 3 hours. I was questioned by the police, but cleared. It took 3 months to get the autopsy back as he was on so many prescription drugs, as he had moved from street drugs to milking doctors for prescriptions.

This new place had a basement where he had put his exercise equipment, but there was so much mold in the basement, both black and white, that you could scrape it off the walls with a knife. When he first moved in he over flowed the toilet and got all the carpet upstairs wet. I offered to help him clean it up, but no he said. It would dry. Well it did dry and mold even more. You walked into that place and the mold hit you in the face like a tank.

So he died from double bacterial pneumonia. I say it was transmitted to him by the mold spores. I think he ran on his treadmill and then sat under the air conditioner and filled his lungs. That stuff is nothing to be messed with as I had seen him Sat. morning and I found him Monday morning.

He had estranged his family so repeatedly that none of them came to the funeral. I was tasked with the whole thing. Since I was the one that called the authorities, my name is on his death certificate. He has been gone for 7 years this month.

SusieQOH 07-29-2018 05:34 AM

Wow, Battleaxe, that's quite a story.

I've been married to my husband since we were both 21. That's a loooong time!
But I still have my heartthrobs :D As long as they stay in my head all is well!

One man who to me is about the handsomest guy ever was that darling John Kennedy Jr. My gosh, he was hot!

Dean Martin! I was born when he was 40.....I STILL love him.....funny, sexy..watched his TV show with the Ding A Lings.

Jo Anne B. 07-29-2018 07:41 AM

Richard Chamberlain from the Thorn Birds, carried that torch for many years until I found out he played for and with the other team. Kevin Costner, George Strait. Tom Selleck in the mid years when he was a guest star on Friends.

Doggramma 07-29-2018 08:12 AM

Yes, Richard Gere is definitely at the top. He has a brief frontal nude scene in "Breathless" about 40 minutes in. I've watched that movie way too many times.

when I was much younger, it was Peter Noonan from Herman's Hermits. We saw him performing recently and he still looks very fit and fantastic!

craftymatt2 07-29-2018 08:25 AM

oh my this might be the wrong topic for me...lol but i was always hung up on clint eastwood, he is so much older than me but he is soo hot, but now im hung up on jamie dornan, hes a lot younger but so sexy

I remember that scene!!!!!!!!!!!! It's such a trashy movie but I love it because of him! lol

NoraB 07-29-2018 08:32 AM

When I was little, I had a crush on The Rifleman's son.....can't remember his name. Johnny "something". And I thought The Real McCoy's "Luke" was cute. I also liked Michael Landon when he was in Bonanza. Loved those old time series!

I never thought Clint Eastwoood was "hot" until I saw him in The Bridges of Madison County. Yes, he was :)

SusieQOH 07-29-2018 08:35 AM

Nobody has mentioned Paul Newman. He was a hottie for sure.

As for Tommy Lee Jones, yes, something very sexy about him. He's a great actor. I cried a lot watching Lonesome Dove.

I find myself smitten with guys who are starting to be as young as my boys. A real wake-up call haha :D

sewnclog 07-29-2018 08:51 AM

Gee reading the above lists there are lots; Clark Gable; Randolph Scott; Tom Skerritt; Tom Selleck; Mark Harmon; Richard Gere; Dean Martin (LOVE his music); Gene Barry; Raymond Burr; and am sure there are others. None that I really pine for though; just think they were really good looking guys; would never even get to meet them. I had a great husband and lost his when he was 42; he's been gone over 29 years now. Hard to believe and I miss him a lot. Cherish your fellows if he's a keeper. They are SO hard to find.
I understand how you feel Battleax. I had one hanging around in my life like that - for way too long after my husband died (what was I thinking); found out he'd gone online and found a 'girlfriend' who was older than him (he was in his 80's by then); he was so lazy wouldn't do anything for himself (I think he was looking for his/a mommy). When I found that out I walked away and didn't look back. Do NOT need that in my life. I'm ok quite alone.
I'm sure all those we have a flick of interest in might not be that great to live with or as nice as they seem - in reality. But we can dream; doesn't cost anything as long as we remember it is just fantasy.

sewnclog 07-29-2018 08:53 AM

NoraB - Johnny Crawford I liked that show too; it's still on here too. Good clean show and always a good moral to the stories. Something NONE of the shows these days have.

Tartan 07-29-2018 09:02 AM

I focus on character rather then looks alone. My husband is fine looking man who loves me - faults and all. He went to work every day to support his family and will join me in heaven when our time comes.

madamekelly 07-29-2018 09:20 AM

Sam Elliot, definitely Sam Elliot. Bonus-He lives just a few miles from me! Rrrrowrrr! Bobby Sherman was another, and Howard Keel, and Patrick Duffy, and of course, the ring leader of them all, Freddie Mercury (even if I was not his type).

Sleepy Hollow 07-29-2018 09:54 AM

I think my first big famous person crush was Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid). I was 5 when it came out, lol.

All my constants are much older... Harrison Ford, Sean Connery (after he hit his 50s and went grey), Mark Harmon (also the "older version"), Toby Keith. A newer one the last few years is Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, and some movies-- he looks like he'd be fun to hang out with, and not bad to look at at all!)

In real life, I'm drawn to tall, dark, more on the husky side, blue-collar type.

nativetexan 07-29-2018 10:12 AM

Sean Connery, Richard Gere, Sam Elliot. sexy men with great voices. but then i like Jason Statham of Transporter. I used to like a young man in 8th or 9th grade that he reminds me of. short, cute, etc. Odd but true. Oh and one more I can't think the name of. not tall, bow legged and balding. cute anyway. getting old like me.

cindyb 07-29-2018 10:14 AM

Does anyone remember John Davidson? His dimples were so cute. I really like Keith Urban (probably spelled his name wrong LOL) I like his solid love and devotion for his wife Nichole and his kids. He's kind of shy.

SusieQOH 07-29-2018 10:23 AM

Another one for Sam Elliott- it looks like he's going to win this (whatever this is haha)
I don't even know who he is??? But as I said my sister loves him.

SusieQOH 07-29-2018 10:24 AM

Dean Martin had the absolute best voice ever!! I never understood why Frank Sinatra was more popular.
