Hey, don't forget about those wringer washers, you know even though it took time when I was a young girl of 12 it still brings back the fondest memories of when I could be with my mom and helping her do the wash and then hanging it out in the yard-----nothing beats the clean fresh smell of how those clothes were when they were dried and you folded each piece as they came down off the line----- of course being a helper once I stood on a old table in the yard as I was hanging clothes and it tipped and I broke my arm and mom had to rush me to the doctor's office where he set my arm and put a heavy cast on it---- they are still good memories----life was simple and good

Talk about grinning-I still do it all-that same way, except for ironing, I iron as I go. And the smell, heady, huh? Especilly when you crawl into bed with fresh linens off the line. With the hot weather we're having, clothes dry in 20 minutes. I rub it in to DH all the time about the grief he gave me when I insisted on clothes lines when we bought the house. Our solar dryer is free! Thanks for the list and reinforcement of a good, green thing.

This is the 'norm' in UK! Just brought mine in off the line ready for ironing!!!! (Whenever I get round to it!!!!) Stand for hours pressing fabrics! Shirts??????? uhhmmmmm!!! :roll:

I had several of them as years ago my DH wore cotton chinos to work. Liked the fact that by using the stretchers I didn't have to iron the pants. Nowadays I take his cotton slacks right out the the dryer and hang them by the cuffs, making sure the creases are even and that's it - I really hate ironing and try to do as little as possible. |
