I am in again!!! Just PM'd you. Let the weight loss continue !!!

Susanna10 02-29-2016 12:36 PM

I am here again. Hope I do better this month. Already mailed my fat quarter. I love purple.

leighway 02-29-2016 01:50 PM

This sounds good. I'm in!

meanmom 02-29-2016 04:34 PM

I am so mad at myself. I ate a huge bowl of ice cream last night because I was mad at my DH and son. I was also over tired. What make me even more mad is it wasn't even very good. What a waste of calories. If it had been good at least I would have enjoyed it.

pinkflowers 02-29-2016 05:36 PM

I'm in for March. Already sent my FQ in January. Good luck everyone!

Pam H 02-29-2016 10:28 PM

I'm in for March.

Jcarpentier 03-01-2016 12:09 PM

In for March. Thanks!

Jcarpentier 03-03-2016 04:00 AM

Good morning all. Its going to be a rough day today. My daughter was up vomiting half the night and I have to work at 8 am. Good thing I'm an early bird and have LOTS of coffee on hand. Hope everyone is off to a good start with weight loss for March! Think Spring!

mjmachin 03-03-2016 05:56 AM

Oh Jcarpentier, I am so sorry to hear of your bad night and do hope your daughter is better this morning. Yes, it will be a long day for you..... hopefully early to bed tonight!

Annaquilts 03-03-2016 06:18 AM

I am in! I am close to my goal weight but keep hoovering several pounds above it.

mjmachin 03-04-2016 10:31 AM

Oh no......what is today, a test for me !!??? I am at work and someone brought in a home made carrot cake for the staff. Yikes!! So I had a small piece and felt guilty all the time I ate it. Luckily I think I can now walk away from the rest of it. I will send it home with someone tonight and it will be gone. Then, another nice person brought in a huge bowl full of Easter chocolates for the staff.....what the heck???!!! I must find another place for this bowl other than the middle of my desk!! So far I have not checked it out very well, but I can just feel all the chocolate going to my thighs already!!! Help!!! I stepped on the scale this morning and saw that it went down a little.....and now this! I weigh in at Weight Watchers tomorrow morning and it better be a negative number!!

pinkflowers 03-04-2016 02:46 PM

I have the same problem at my job. We have two staff meetings a month - one for all staff and one for just my team. And at each meeting there is a cake or special treat for the birthday people of that month. Although, not every month includes a birthday person. The two months this year so far have been better though. Fruit was served, so I hope they stay with that plan. We also have people bring in goodies from home often, as well as fruit bowls or bagels. But it can be hard to resist the goodies. I haven't been able to resist completely. I know that if I just have a taste, and I mean just one small bite, I can go merrily on my way.

meanmom 03-04-2016 03:53 PM

There are often treats in the teachers lounge at school. One Friday a month there is breakfast. Luckily I forgot that it was today. I ate at home and was running a little bit behind this morning. I ate about a 1" square of a brownie. By the time I got back in there at lunch time all of the yummy stuff was gone so I didn't HAVE to eat it. We started the biggest loser at school this week. I joined in. SO last night when I got home my DH had a pizza here. Not good for weight loss.
I have had the grandkids several times this week so I missed a couple of my exercise classes. Heading to spinning tomorrow. I need to figure out the winner. for February.

meanmom 03-04-2016 03:56 PM

The winner for February is Mjmachin with a loss of 5 pounds. Congratulations.

mjmachin 03-05-2016 04:38 AM

Thanks so much. Hopefully I can get rid of another 5 lbs in March. Good luck everyone.

Annaquilts 03-05-2016 08:01 AM

Congratulations mjmachin!

pinkflowers 03-07-2016 02:37 PM

Awesome Mjmachin! Keep up the good work!

Irishrose2 03-08-2016 10:42 AM

I should have joined this month. My exercise has come to an abrupt halt - I fell last Tuesday, my birthday, and hurt my lower back. One Dr is talking a fracture, one not sure. I have another app't Thursday. In the meantime, I've done no yoga or walking so my lower abdomen is expanding already. My daughter loves purple so I might have been motivated to watch what I eat for her. Did I say I overeat when stressed and this is definitely stressful? Okay, Judy, stop your whining. Like my son says,"What is, is".

Pam H 03-08-2016 03:50 PM

Oh dear, Judy. I sure hope it not a fracture. Take care of yourself.

mjmachin 03-09-2016 06:51 AM

Please be very careful with your hurt back, Judy. We all wish you well and hope there is no fracture for you to contend with.

meanmom 03-09-2016 05:13 PM

I hope it isn't a fracture Judy. Praying it all goes well. I tried a new class tonight. Hopefully I will be able to walk tomorrow and get out of bed. I did my spinning class, 15 miles and then a group power class. Lots and lots of squats with weights and weight lifting. I was doing water aerobics 2 nights a week but I don't like having something 4 nights a week.

Pam H 03-09-2016 08:25 PM

My friend and I worked out with a trainer yesterday. Oh my. Just about every part of my body hurts today. I plan to go back friday to work out again if my knee feels better. She really kicked our butts!

Jcarpentier 03-10-2016 04:06 PM

Hey all. Its been rough here in this house lately. We have all had the flu and my daughter now has a cold. We are on the mend and feeling all right now though.

Jim's Gem 03-10-2016 09:47 PM

I am in. You already have my FQ.
So far I think I am gaining for the month.

I have a new little Granddaughter. Erin Elizabeth was born on March 2. That makes 7 grands, 4 girls 3 boys.
Love being a grandma, but it sure is tiring when you get to babysit them.

Maggiemay 03-11-2016 04:31 AM

I sent you a pm, Pat before I left on a cruise saying I'd be in for this month. Had a wonderful time. Smooth sailing in the Western Caribbean, beautiful ports, and lots to eat & drink! There were 14 of us in our group & we had so much fun! I came home sick though. Started with a cough the last few days of the cruise. I felt ok then, but by the time we flew home I was coughing, sneezing & blowing like crazy! I would have hated to have been sitting near me on the plane! Luckily I was between my husband & aunt trying hard not to cough without much luck. I've taken it real easy this week & finally am feeling better.

I sure hope it isn't a fracture, Judy. I hope you aren't in a lot of pain either.

Congratulations Gayle on the new addition to the family!

5 lbs is a great loss mjmachin- congratulations to you as well!

Irishrose2 03-11-2016 08:12 AM

Thank you, everyone for your concern. The pain is severe at times (worse today), but doing better if I look at last week for comparison. I went to a yin yoga class yesterday. The instructor was very helpful keeping a pad under my sacrum on the back poses. He is such a nice young man. This studio has two steps and stairs are not my friend right now, but J helped me up them. I did not attempt what another member calls, "Kick your a** yoga" this morning. It really isn't that, but it's a cute name. The dogs had their first walk in 10 days yesterday. They were a happy pair! Walking was not too bad, just bending over to pick up after them. It's too bad my dog walker moved away, but I need the fresh air and exercise (to the best of my ability) so it's not all bad. I started back on quilting the quilt that's been hanging out on the machine. I missed the baby shower deadline, but will definitely deliver it before the birth of my next great grandson. Colorful chevrons separated by soft gray and white polka dots.
My weight is holding without much exercise, though I had mac and cheese last night so I may have done some damage. A deep tissue massage removed much of the fluid from my legs Wednesday.

Congratulations, Gayle. Your grandbaby was born the day after my birthday. That was one I won't forget because it the day I fell.

Pat, the exercises you do amaze me. More power to you!

Five pounds is a great loss in the winter when our bodies are programmed to gain. Spring will soon be here and that phase will be over. Yay!

Susanna10 03-12-2016 10:16 AM

Congratulations mjmachin!

Leann 03-13-2016 04:16 PM

Judy, sorry for that nasty fall. Hope that you are giving it plenty of time for healing. Your deep tissue massage sounds wonderful!

Gayle, congrats on a new treasure. Mom always said having babies is for the young - yet she keeps her twin great granddaughters all the time. She says it gives them purpose.

I can't believe the month is going so quickly. And I hope you are all doing better than I am.

sewbizgirl 03-13-2016 09:32 PM

I've lost 16 lbs since October and am pretty much at my goal weight, so I'm not joining the challenge. Just here to cheer you all on! You can do it. Remember that weight loss is 80% nutrition, 20% workout, and 100% mindset!

Eat right and think positive.... and be sure to drink plenty of water every day. It's the catalyst to burning fat. Drink half your body weight in ounces, per day.

Another tip: Keep your metabolism speedy by eating a high protein snack between meals. Don't go longer than 3 hours without eating.

Good luck, everyone!

mjmachin 03-14-2016 07:12 AM

Great tips, Sewbizgirl! Congrats on your loss and reaching your goal. Drinking all that water is a challenge for me. If I have a glass next to me I will drink it, but I forget to refill it! Thanks for your words of wisdom.

Jcarpentier 03-15-2016 02:58 PM

Spoke too soon. We all are in various stages of a cold. Can't shake this sickness...

meanmom 03-16-2016 04:31 PM

So sorry to hear you are feeling bad again Jcarpentier. I am heading to a quilt retreat this weekend. I can't wait. I took Friday off of work so I can leave early. I am so ready for a day off work. I received the menu a couple of days ago. It is going to be a rough weekend for healthy eating. I am doing a biggest loser at work. Today was so crazy i missed the weigh in I will have to do it tomorrow. I think it should be a good one. The only time I had a free minute today the person in charge of the weigh in was busy. Hopefully I can catch her tomorrow.
Hopefully we can schedule a meeting about my kindergartener soon. She was crazy off the hook today. She wasn't much better yesterday. The principal was out and the assistant principal, who is supposed to be in charge of discipline isn't much help. All he did was come in and yell at her to get it together. Not much help. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I went to spinning class and a group power class to de- stress. I feel a lot better now. Gotta go start packing up for retreat.

Jcarpentier 03-17-2016 08:42 AM

Thanks meanmom. We are on the mend. Yesterday while at school my daughter got a concussion while on the play ground. She was running and collided with another student, who was bigger than her. She hit the back of her head on the tar. She is ok today and we sent her to school. She has already missed so much school from being sick. We would have kept her home without hesitation if she needed it today. One thing after another!

mjmachin 03-18-2016 10:50 AM

Sure glad this is Friday, it has been a tough week eating-wise. It seems like all the old goodies are calling my name this week. I am back to wanting to nibble all the time. This could be bad for my weight loss this week! I will see at weigh in tomorrow.

Jcarpentier 03-21-2016 05:56 AM

Hey everyone. Hows it going? It may be spring in other parts of the country but not here in Maine. We are getting snow as I write this. Hope everyone has a great week!

Pam H 03-21-2016 06:40 AM

I have been so bad with my eating. Sugar has crept back into my life and I can't seem to stop. Nighttime eating is bad too. April will be my month to buckle down and get serious about my health again. I have been pretty good about going to the gym though. I gave the spinning class 3 tries. Can't say that I love it but I think I will like it better when I am in better shape and my butt gets used to the seat.
Jc, sounds like the noreaster has made it to you. How much are you supposed to get?

I just returned from my quilt retreat. I am afraid of the scale. I didn't eat as bad as it could have been but not good. I feel bloated. We had a wonderful time as usual. We went to a new location this year and it was nice. The food was yummy just not figure friendly. For breakfast yesterday they served scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and cinnamon rolls. I took a cinnamon roll, they were huge I intended to only eat half, well somehow the whole thing jumped into my mouth. I will find out the damages when I weigh myself on Saturday. I hope it isn't too bad. I feel like I gained 5 pounds. I did make it to spinning class tonight. I felt sluggish. I did ride 17 miles in 50 minutes. Here is the quilt I made on retreat. it is called Geometric Gradations by Geta Grama. Not sure why images from my phone end up sideways.

Jcarpentier 03-22-2016 03:40 AM

Pam H, we got about 5 inches or so but a lot of it has melted already. Have a great day everyone!

Maggiemay 03-22-2016 10:11 AM

I've never been on a quilt retreat. Sounds like fun. And it was National Quilting Day on Saturday too- how appropriate! I did make it up to my sewing room that day to do some organizing & try to figure out why I bought that black fabric I just pre washed. I still have no idea & that's not like me! I've been working on a quilt that started out as leftover blocks from one I made my sister & her husband last year. They wanted a pretty long drop on it & I calculated it on all 4 sides instead of 3. So I had 3 rows of warm wishes blocks that I ripped apart & did some slicing & dicing on. Now I'm working on surrounding those with braids on all 4 sides. I like how it's coming out.

My DH is out of town & I always eat better when he's gone! I need to get back on the treadmill but haven't done that since we got back from the cruise & then was sick. No excuses now, but I still haven't done it!

I like your quilt Pat. I've seen some of her patterns & she does beautiful work. Isn't she on this board from time to time? I think I've seen her on FB too.
