On Valentine's Day, we added another furbaby to our family. Her name is Lacey Jane. She is a 9.5yr old Yellow Lab. She had belonged to my son's daycare provider and they needed to find her another home because they didn't have time to spend with her. She is a fabulous dog! She lets you know when she has to go out. First, she stares at you and then if you don't get the message she starts barking and "dancing" around. When she goes outside, she does her business and will bark to be let back in! She is 9yrs old, so she is very calm. She does not get on furniture, including the bed, and does not jump on people. She had no problem when introduced to the cats. That would have been the deal breaker. She also sleeps in her dog bed, if my son isn't laying in it first! The only bad thing is she is not fixed..which will soon be remedied! She is about to go into heat, so after this cycle, she goes to the vet! The only problem I am having is she won't eat her dog food. It is the same food she has always eaten. She has been to the vet and she is healthy. I can only get her to eat if I put a small bit of canned in with the kibble. I leave food down for her 24/7, but she still won't eat it. I'm not sure what the problem is....hopefully we figure it out soon. Anyways, here she is in all her glory!! I never really liked Labs, but she is turning me around!

Awh! She is a sweetie! Maybe she just needs to settle in a little more and then she will start eating normally. Enjoy.

That is so nice of your family to adopt her. I am sure she is just getting used to her new surroundings trying to figure out what is going on.

Our dog does not eat when he is not at home. Even when we use to leave him with my husbands parent, while on vacation. He is 14 we left him at a really nice kennel for the first time ever. She put gravy on his kibble and he ate all of it. Don't know if that might help, until he gets totally adjusted. It takes time, he will eventually eat, I am sure, but you might try the gravy idea.

She's a beauty. Hope she adjusts to her new home and starts eating.

She will be forever grateful to you giving her a new home. Be patient she will eat when ready. Just make sure she is drinking. She is still a little stressed and will take time to adjust. Patience is the key and lots of TLC. She will reward you immensly given the chance.

I've had several labs, and after they get over the hyper-puppy stage (at about the age of 9 LOL), there is no better dog on earth. They are sooooo loving!

Congratulations on your new furbaby and extra hugs for giving a deserving pet a good home.

The dog whisperer on TV reccommends that you feed your dog once in the morning and once in the evening. If you leave it out all the time you won't know how much the dog is eating. I feed my German shorthaired pointer a cup in the morning and a cup at night. My daughter has a pure bred lab and she feeds her 1 1/2" cups in the morning and in the evening. It depends on the size of the dog and the exercise they get.

One thing you can try is to put an egg on top of the food. I give mine an egg once in a while for a shiny coat. You might try putting some water on the food but make sure you take the food up at least an hour after if she doesn't eat it.

I am sure she will settle in soon. You should feed her the same time every day.

We have an older part lab--love this dog. She's as easy as you say this one is... never a problem--never in trouble. Shimano won't eat her dry food unless there's peanut butter on it.

Even though I currently have 2 much loved Collie muttleys, I still think Labs are one of the best family dogs! Your's looks like she is a total sweetheart!

Maybe she's dealing with the separation and loss, from her previous family, and so isn't wanting to eat much yet. I would guess with lots of love and attention, she'll be munching again soon. :)
