As far as smelling perfume on other people, there are many that are too acrid for my nose in any amount.

When you get migraines from going to church...someone definately is wearing too much perfume :!: :!: :!:

I have a bottle of perfume called Ciara that my husband bought for me over 25 years ago. It only takes one finger dab that I apply on my neck and inside elbows. My oldest daughter back then was 7. She decided she wanted to smell like mommy. Holy smokes, you would have thought she bathed in it. This was not a lie she could ever escape from. Oddly, she thought of me just about a year ago, and I received another bottle of Ciara via UPS, and a nice note that said "I love you Mommy, and I am sorry for what I did." That took me to my knees...........She remembered.

I like it but makes my nose pour so I leave it alone. DH has to be careful with his because it tears me up.

I've often wondered what gives people allergies. do any of you know who work for drs or allergists? Is it a gene thing? My SIL somehow got one but she brought it on herself. She had something wrong with her stomach which she needed to take meds for and they made her really sensative to smoke. Her dr told her she HAD to stop to take the meds.She was a smoker and absolutely refused to quit even if it put her in the hospital. She gave her baby an allergy, her cat an allergy (or both a real bad reaction to smoke!) and even though her stomach is now fine she now has allergies (and still smokes!).

She hates my perfume and I hate her smoke so consequently we never ever see each other - lol, which is mutually ok - sharet

Very very rarely, and even then it's only essential oils. I HATE hugging another woman and then smelling like her!

Oh, and hubs and I are on a vacation in New orleans this week (travel w/ my laptop) - anyway, its been about a million degrees out all week with a 200% humidity (dont know how the locals do it).

we've been riding the streetcars and buses cus it cheap and they get you everywhere. well, tonite the Saints are playing an exhibition game in town. we were on a trolley, people piling on in Saints jerseys, its opressive out, and there are so many people I had guys hanging over me holding straps to ride, bumping and dipping into me - you'd better believe I had a hankie w/ lemon scent on it clapped to my nose!!! lol man sweat mixed with guys sweating off beer and booze when its 118 deg out and theyre dressed in black 100% nylon jersey material will flip your stomach over ( not to mention the smells coming off the sidewalks/ garbage containers on some of the narrow streets in the French Quarter)sharet

I like light scents...Often I will 'layer' fragrance...using scented body wash, then following with matching lotion...MAYBE use the coordinating fragrance spray, but usually the body wash/lotion combination is plenty for all day and not overpowering...

I know there is a lg amt of people with senstivities to smell or fragrances. And allergies. But here is another take on it...We do go to Casino's around here and it is mind blowing the amt of people that have strong, unpleasant body odor. I was talking to a Host one night about this topic and she said that the majority of people that stink of BO cannot smell themselves. And they think that if they take a shower, they do not stink. My Dr has migraines and I saw her this week. I asked her about it. She has signs that say No Perfumes to be worn in this office. She did say that yes, some people cannot smell themselves and think that if they shower or bathe that they do not have any odor. However....some folks do not actually scrub and wash. And some it would not matter if they did, they just stink. So this brought up my next question for her....If perfumes or scents cause migraines, can the BO smells not do the same? She thought about it and said "Odor is odor. Doesn't matter if it is a chemical, perfume or under arms, feet or nether region, some odors trigger migraines." She loves my perfume and says it does not bother her and that she hardly smells it, while others choke her and brings on blinding pain. This is a very interesting topic. I do not think strong perfumes or lotions should be worn in a Drs offc or Hosp. due to the health issues it can cause. But....what do you do about someone that cannot smell themselves yet they stink to high heaven & it makes others want to retch? Is that fair? I am paranoid now. LOL I certainly do not want someone to get sick due to my lotions or deodorant or perfume, but I sure do not want to maybe have an odor issue either & cause someone to want to upchuck. :?
