I can't believe my DD is old enough for the prom. It was a junior/senior prom so we will have to do it again next year with these 2. I better start saving my money because I told her we would go all out for the senior prom next year as if this one didn't cost me an arm and a leg already. I look at that dress and shoes and think to myself, look at all the fabric I could have bought. LOL!!!!! I am bad mommy!!!!

They really do make a wonderful couple.

Thank you for looking.

Lovely! I'll have to show my granddaughter, who is 15. She has black hair, with streaks of red, purple, blue...it is all the rage here in New England. These kids look so happy!

Claddaughquilting 05-01-2011 06:13 AM

Beautiful pictures! They make a sweet couple. It is hard when they grow up..my (only) son turned 16 a few weeks ago...
I know what you mean about fabric..I value everything in terms of how much fabric I could have bought instead...oh the evils of quilting!

dpparris 05-01-2011 06:14 AM

I would be thinking after the prom that there had to be something in the dress that could be used to make a quilt.

Wait til school gets out, she will have muti-colored hair. They can't have anything but natural colored hair in school here. She barely gets away with it this way.

My daughter's senior prom was last night, too. No more girl proms in this house. I really shouldn't complain. We have never spent over $100 for a prom. The girl was born cheap.

It is all satin fabric so I won't be using it for anything.

Before buying this dress we hit every thrift shop trying to find something that would fit her. If she had been a bean pole then we would have many choices. Any dress' we found for a girl of her size was down right ugly and frumpy.

Your daughter is beautiful! They make a lovely couple!

I'm a scrapbooker, so I take LOTS of pictures... the last picture of your daughter giving you "the look"... yeah, I have tons of those with my kids giving me "the look"... tired of the paparazzi.. thats what they call me. =)

Thank you everyone. She does look a lot like me but she totally has my personality so I feel sorry for Travis sometimes but he loves her just the she is.

Charming looking couple! Remember, sometimes it cost money to make memories. Feeling like a princess is priceless. We all remember our school dances, especially if we went with someone special.

littlehud 05-01-2011 07:30 AM

What a pretty dress. Your daughter is so pretty. Prom can be sooooo expensive. But what wonderful memories.

julia58 05-01-2011 07:33 AM

What a great looking couple and your daughter is so pretty. Love her dress and her hair. This is such a fun time in her life, well worth the money spent as these memories she will have forever. surprised you have a daughter that old.

I didn't have girls but a co-worker did, soon as prom was over we would go get dresses on clearence for 70 percent off sometimes. One time the exact dress my sons date paid 230 bucks for was marked down to 50 dollars !! She would buy for homecomming, winter formal and prom all for the price of one dress in the spring!Always had good luck at jc pennies, and macy's. Something to think about ;)

We are very lucky here for thrift stores and this year's dress did come from one. Do you have a store called "Deb's" in a mall near you? They have sizes up to 24W and if you hit the after prom sales you can be shocked at some of the prices. One dress we bought cost $20 and another that we bought and altered was only $7.50. We have often bought a dress ahead of time because my daughter's tastes are pretty firm. If she likes it now, she will like it for the next dance.

Who knows? If you keep your eyes open, you two might stumble on something fabulous before the next dance and be able to stretch your "going all out" money and still have left overs.

Radiana 05-01-2011 11:17 AM

She's beautiful and her boyfriend is a looker as well. They make a cute couple.

Charming 05-01-2011 11:22 AM

That is so cute, i am going through this with my son now. His prom is next week. Can i ask you what is the flower thingy in your daughter's wrist called? i want to order one for his girlfriend. I didn't go to high schools here so i didn't have that experience.

Thanks

DeeBooper 05-01-2011 11:45 AM

Beautiful kids!!! Does that last picture resemble her mom at all.....LOL?

It's called a corsage (SP?). The flowers are roses attached to a bracelet. I would take a better picture but it's storming right now. I will do it later and post a picture for to see.

We have a little break in the storm. Here is some pictures of her corsage and his bootineer. I can't spell today. They flowers and decorations on it were real pretty last night.

The bracelet

The roses. The flowers are wilting already.

his bootineer. It had a magnet in the back and a magnet that you put inside the pocket or where ever you want it at so that no pins are used at all.

irishrose 05-01-2011 12:46 PM

Great pictures, Carrie. The dress is lovely and she is a beauty and yes, she does look like you.

Charming, it's a wrist corsage - saves putting pins in lovely fabrics and is great with allergies. The flowers aren't right under your nose. If you order one by phone, be sure to specify a pretty wristband. Some florists use white elastic.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 05-01-2011 02:46 PM

I have never seen the magnet deal before!! Great idea! The wrist ones here are done on a long velcro strip so they will fit all kinds of writs. The guys just get plain old pins.

"I better start saving my money because I told her we would go all out for the senior prom next year as if this one didn't cost me an arm and a leg already."

This reminds me of my youngest son, his SR. prom time came around and he called me at work and said he wanted a RED tux for prom, I laughed at him said OK if you can find one. HA HA he did and it cost me over $400 to rent !!! He wanted to make a statement and thats just what he did. He was the talk of the prom and parents, not in a mean way. He is very tall and slender and if anyone could pull that off he could. He alo wore patent leather sneakers and a black top hat with red grossgain ribbon!!! His date wore a beautiful black and white dress and with the red flowers they actually looked quite sharp. I never dreamed I would have spent over $400 for a one night tux rental but I coudnt back out once I told him I would go with it. I miss prom times !!!

lauriejo 05-01-2011 03:53 PM

What a cute couple! I get that look from my son A LOT, probably because I take A LOT of pictures. He absolutely refused to even consider going to prom, saved me a bundle.

Good Looking couple! your daughter looks like you!

0tis 05-02-2011 06:22 AM

Those pictures are priceless. What wonderful memories your daughter will have. I really like that last pic with the "look" - that is special. The wrist corsage was beautiful - usually they are not that pretty - I really like hers - I love the smile they both light up when they were all dressed up.
