I am embarrassed to admit that I don't know this, but: When I need to have fasting blood drawn do I take my medication in the morning before the test?

What is the blood test checking? What time if your appointment? What are your medications?
My dh has fasting blood draws on a regular basis... he waits till after the blood test to take his medications with his breakfast...

I think it depends on what type of meds they are but I am not certain

You should really call your clinic or the doctor's office ; to get the right info.

We have had several reasons for having blood tests, and each time was told to take the meds. However, we could only take small sips of water only, so difficult to swallow the pills. Always waited after the testing. Made sure the appts were always around 7 or 8 am.

Chlestrol(probably spelled that wrong) and blood pressure

I think I better call in the morning. Thanks for your quick replies. I knew you folks could help.

they always tell me to just do my insulin but not anything with water!

Most times you can take your meds before the blood draw. Some meds need food with them, those would wait. (R.N. since 1959)
