I have the Dyson pet version downstairs and like it a lot. We've had it for many years with no issues. DH does blow out the innards periodically. I've had the same issues with cheapo vacuums over the last few years. I, too, like to keep one upstairs and one downstairs just so I don't have to lift and tote them. We currently have an old kirby upstairs that DH rebuilt (was his parents from many decades ago). I haven't used it - he does. Too heavy for me. I can't tell you the number of vacuums that DH has come home to find on the front lawn because they have fallen apart on me for the last time! Granted, I keep buying cheap for upstairs as I (mistakenly) think there is less dog hair, etc. up there to clean. Don't know what I'll buy next time.

Dyson, my original animal DC 8 was bought 14years ago, needed a new motor last year got the motor for £45 fitted it from tube video, got a little hand held Dyson for sewing room. I have two German shredders so major dog hair.

It depends on price and how heavy a vacuum you can handle. I ended up getting a Hoover Air light because it is lightweight. My cleaning lady loves it. Go to a retail store where you can test drive them.

Dyson! My whole family and I have dogs and cats and we swear by Dyson. Mine is about 8-9 years old and had one minor issue with it. A great vac.

I loved my Rainbow. My mother loved her Rexair, the forerunner of the Rainbow. My husband traded in my Rainbow and bought a Kerby. They do not go under anything, are pricey and are very heavy. But they do a good job on floors.

I have a Shark. I have had it two or three years and I wouldn't give it up for anything. My daughter also has one much older then mine and has never had any trouble with it.

I don't have one yet, but am looking to get a Shark Rotater (sp) Lift-away. Possibly the pet version. I like this company's products. The Ninja blenders are awesome! :)

I have the Eureka version of a Dyson..........sort of....lol I have had it for several years now. It's the first one I have not had to replace after six months or so. I use it so much I wore out the beater brush, ordered a new one from eBay for 15.00 and it's up and running again.

I take mine outside once a month and use the air compressor on it. Clean all the filters, remove the hair and threads from the brush etc.

I have 2 Chocolate Labs and bougth the Shark Pet model and love not needing a bag. My Sophie is a Corgi/Lab and sheds quite a bit, the Shark works great and a good value. Got mine from Amazon.
