We have a smaller Dyson in the RV and the animal in the house. Both work great but when I want to use attachments I use the Kirby. Have a 1970 model in basement and a newer one upstairs. We have two poms and our daughter has two. Plus 4 year old twins. Since they have come to live with us I vacuum all the time!! I personally do not like how the attachments work on the dysons. I know many people who are happy with the shark. You can get it for way less money then the Dyson. Good luck shopping!!,

I have 2 Sharks...one in the house and one in the camper. They are both Rotators and I love them. We have an Australian Shepard dog and these vacuums get every bit of hair!

I hate my Dyson that I've had for many years, have always hated it and much more than any other vacuum I have ever used. So ... I looked for years for a bagless upright & canister combo at what I considered a reasonable price. Shark now has one ... it's a rotator lift-away. I bought the package deal that includes the caddy so that I can set the lift-away part on the caddy, which then I can pull around ... ergo, a canister vacuum cleaner. I'm in my 70's and this is the first vacuum cleaner that I really, really like. The 30' cord is a bit shorter than the cord on my Dyson, but I can deal with that. There are a lot of Shark models available; if you go Shark shopping, suggest you shop with care to get exactly what you want & need. Sam's Club has/had? a version, but only a 20' cord and no caddy, etc., so I bought directly from Shark on-line.

I have 2 upright Dysons & the V6 rechargeable upright also. They ALL do a great job & I wouldn't hesitate to replace them with another if needed. I LOVE my Dysons. Pricey but worth it. I have 2 long haired dogs: a Golden Retriever & a Sheltie & they both shed a lot & the Dysons are the best that I have ever tried.

I use a Hoover, with the bag, that I bought at least 14 years ago. It still works great and has best suction still. I did change the belt and filter once.

We have a Shark Navigator and I think it's real good because my husband wants to vacuum!

I also have 2 pugs. I bought an upright Miele and have been pleased. I was concerned I'd be buying bags all the time, but they last a long time.

I clean over 20 homes, at present I have a Shark profession and will NEVER buy another one. The vacuum does not pick up well on hard wood or title without changing heads.Lets face it that doesn't take a lot of time but having to drag all the extra stuff around is a pain. This machine does pick up very well on carpet ( most of my homes have quilters in them and animals also), so we do have a large amount of thread and hair.The filters are easy to get to and wash well,one just needs to keep the beater bar clean.The best vacuum I have ever owned and used is a Dyson I think a D37 I had 2, easy to use, easy to clean and lasted great, if I had any trouble I called the company and they walked me through fixing it.I have owned Rainbow( wonderful but pricey) Hoover(will do if that's all I had) Shark( a disappointment from the beginning)and the 2 Dyson (this is what I will buy from now on, even if I have to make payments). We all have our favorites and like or love different features each offer. But for the way I use a vacuum 6 days a week in all sorts of dirt (clay from potters, threads from quilters and hair from pets) the Dyson preformed the best on all types of floors, and was the work friendliest (not very heavy ,easy to remove one attachment and add another, long cord, long hoses and wand,ease of washing filters and canister). Of course this is only my opinion.

I love my Shark lift away, it rotates and is easy to use and with two dogs that shed alot, I needed one that would pick it up without constantly clogging up. Mine does this and it even has a light on the wand part so when you are using it to vacuum out small spaces, you can see what its doing. I've never had any luck with the ones that say they are for pets. They were the worst ones

Totally agree, I wouldn't buy any other make but their pet vacuum is the bees knees.
