He's doing great!! The vet's office guessed his birthday to be about April 24th, so he's about 8 months old now. He's a good little guy--but no longer little! He weighed about 12 lbs when we got him--and even after all the trouble he had--he's now about 60 lbs. :-D

My husband is so in love with this mutt--Buddy gets greeted in the mornings and after work before me and with more enthusiasm. But, Buddy's been here for 6 months, and I've been here for 26 years--so that's fair enough. I tell Mark he says "good boy" when Buddy is just breathing. I love it that hubby has the experience of having a pet to take his love out on, like I have my horses.

Here's his story if you missed it--or are interested: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-51463-1.htm

I've followed some of the by-ways of Buddy; delighted he's doing so well and has found his proper people to love him so well!

Oh yes--we just laugh when he lays on the floor on his back to sleep or play and lets us walk around or over him. If we come to him he turns over so we'll scratch his belly. My daughter says he is the happiest dog she's ever seen.

mollymct 01-02-2011 04:34 PM

Great pictures. Love Buddy's smile!

QuiltswithConvicts 01-02-2011 04:44 PM

Awwww! He's so cute! Gotta love those dogs, no matter what breed they are - or aren't. Ours is a mixed breed & we love him too! Go Buddy!!!

karenchi 01-02-2011 04:54 PM

Oh so cute. See that Smile? He is one happy camper.

I have to admit, my husband is the same way w/Bailey.....Play, play, play. It's like having two kids in the house again. They are funny together. You should see Bailey riding in the pick-up. He does not sit side ways, but "Butt" flat and facing window. What looks people give them....Laugh, Laugh and Laugh!

Bailey was 12#'s when we got him. Now he is a hefty 100#

I do that with our girls too! It is a wonderful thing to have a pet or pets for that!

Dawn was just asking about him the other night, so I'm off to let sis know! Lots of love to the four leggers! (Two legged too.) :)

Jim's Gem 01-02-2011 04:54 PM

He sure is handsome!!!!

Oh yes--Mark thinks he's perfect in every way.

Buddy reminds me of a lion--in his coloring and the way he swaggers. We should have called him Simba. He answers to a variety of names--but not that.

CarrieAnne 01-02-2011 05:27 PM

Aw, he is such a handsome dog!

ddddd 01-02-2011 05:47 PM

Midwestmary 01-02-2011 05:51 PM

went back and read the original story and looked at his baby pics...heartwarming! I love dogs - and critters in general...they bring so much joy. Nice to read positive, happy things :) I'm glad you shared his story.

barnbum 01-02-2011 05:56 PM

The "rest of the story" starts on page three of that link above... I just reread it and can't believe he made it through all that.... Just when one thinks he was doing well from the accident...you'll read about the parvo...

beachlady 01-02-2011 06:12 PM

Karla, so glad Buddy is doing so well. Did you ever decide what breeds he is? I was convinced he was mostly Golden Retriever, but don't thnk so any more.

I guess mostly lab...but Mark thinks there's Pit Bull in there. I think they're ugly--so it can't be much!!

laurafet 01-03-2011 07:48 AM

OMG, I went back and looked at the puppy pics. I would have melted too! He's beautiful as a big boy. Isn't it funny how they weezle their way into your heart so quickly?!

QBeth 01-03-2011 08:46 AM

Love his grin!!

I was just thinking back to his early health problems and how you agonized over whether to put him down or not. Given the circumstances, that was completely understandable! How wonderful your perseverence has paid off for all of you. Such a happy pup!!

lynnie 01-03-2011 10:00 AM

So glad you posted updated pictures, I was actually thinking about him yesterday!

franie 01-03-2011 10:15 AM

He looks happy!

amorerm 01-03-2011 01:04 PM

He's wonderful !!!!!! If he's only 8 months old, does this mean he's still growing ????

catlover 01-03-2011 03:31 PM

I read his original story. He's a lucky puppy. And has become quite handsome. Love happy animal stories.
