Don't be afraid, quilters are the greatest and guilds are almost always fun.

They all started somewhere to and most quilters are more than willing to help you get acquainted. If you can't tell from being on this board a couple years, quilters are chatty kathys and will talk your leg off if given a chance, lol.

Enjoy and keep going...it might be "stiff" at first but you'll warm up quickly.

You might also find out about "side groups" that meet weekly that fit more to your age / likes within the guild itself.

Big bag of courage coming your way. You will have the time of your life.

Smile, that makes you more approachable to them. I like to pretend I am Oprah when I go somewhere knew. If I am not "Me" I can't be nervous. Oprah would not be nervous, you know. Ha!
Smile and go to have fun. Something in the purse to pull out and show if appropriate. I went to a quilt group last year and felt a bit stiff about it. Lots of folks made the effort to speak to me. Depending on large the group as to if they know you are a visitor/new to the group.
Smiling makes a lot of things better. Go with a happy heart and have a wonderful time!!!! Tell us how it went! Prayers......for a happy time!!

Their QUILTER's...arent' we all friendly. I go to sewing classes by mytself at a LQS, knowing no one and I've never had a bad experience...Everyone helpful and we're usually all in the same boat.

you'll be fine. You might not be comfortable the FIRST time and others may not recognize that, so be sure to GO BACK a second time. You have much to offer and new friends to make!

I felt that way about our library quilt group who have 20 years on me and I am 63. They made me feel so welcome and am so glad I joined. These would have been people that I would have cheated myself in not knowing. GO and have a great time!!!

You will do fine just pretend that its the people on this board that your talking to. I found out 2 of my neighbors quilt - never knew that, and one of them goes to a local guild so I will start going to our guild next Monday morning.

Remember as a 'child' Show and Tell take something even if just to sit beside you; I'm sure some one will come to see and hear!! Big cup of courage on the way
