Copied from a friend: I was going to complain about how hot it is... then I realized that at least 1. it isn't 109 degrees; 2. I'm not 5,700 miles from home; 3. I'm not dressed in a full ACU/BDU uniform, helmet & carrying 70+ lbs.; 4. there is very little chance that anyone will shoot at me or that I might drive over a bomb in the road! Thanks to all who serve! God bless them!

Yes, you are so right. We must keep this all in perspective. My daughter has been over in Iraq and Afghanistan and got to experience some of that heat!!!

emerald46 07-21-2011 09:30 AM

Double Amen to that!

Thanks for the reminder!!! Our oledest Grandson is almost at a year, for the second time in Iraq.

Zhillslady 07-21-2011 10:37 AM

Well said. A friends son came home from the middle east Sunday for a 2 week leave. His job entails that we never know exactly where he is but the heat came up. Says it always makes him shakle his head when he's in a store or something and people complaining about the "terrible heat". Imagine if your one of the tank drivers - it's like being in a steam bath fully dressed.

My Son-in-law and Grandson both spent 2 terms of service in Iraq, and said that in the hottest of summer the temps can get up to 140 degrees!!!! And GS said riding in his hummer was like sitting in front of a blast furnace, and there was always the fun of dust storms that would make it a hot, total darkness...

soniboo 07-21-2011 11:01 AM

God bless our military men and women for what they endure for us!
