When I lived in NE the only warning sirens were on the radio and the tv... but they were loud and obnoxious!!!

Take your machine to the basement. After this warning blows over, set up a sturdy table, chair etc. down there so that the next time you can just grab a portable, your fabric, rulers, cutting mat and rotary cutter and head down there. Or better yet get an extra cutter, mat and ruler to keep down there.

Wow our sirens went off twice...and we got nearly 3 inches of rain this afternoon. I don't get to worked up over storms anymore :)

I'm glad your safe! We are out in the boonies too. If we are outside and really strain our ears we can here the one in town. Usually the storm itself drowns it out tho.

I hope you realize that (if you have a computerized machine) you DO need to UNPLUG it if it's stormy outside. Wouldn't want to get it zapped by lightening!!

We lived in norhtern TN for 18 years. We survived several tornados, Including the one that destroyed downtown Clarksville in Jan 1999. Word of advice, get a weather alert radio. It is not expensive, maybe $20-25. It has a battery back up on it. You program it for your county and state. You get weather alerts earlier, and can get to saftey that much faster. We spent alot of time in the basement waiting out the storm. We keep it set up in our bedroom to alert us at night when everyone is sleeping. You can hear it go off all over the house.

I am like you watch the windows and keep on going :thumbup: I sew outside a lot, so if it looks really nasty I bring the machine inside so it doesn't get wet :wink:

Then I go back out and watch... I want to see whats coming :shock: LOL

Ladies, you are not helping me out here. DS just came by for a few hours in his big rig before heading to Trenton, MO. in the wee hours of the morning. Guess I better e-mail him to be careful. He was in the tail end of a tornado last week and called. He was in the middle of nowhere with no place to get cover. Such is the life of a trucker.

Hope all is safe and , yes, I would shut down anything comouterized and head to safety until given teh all clear.
