shops to visit help

I'm visiting Banff, Vancouver and taking an Alaskan Cruise at the end of May beginning of June, any suggestions for shops to visit and purchase fabric quilting goodies? Already increased my luggage allowance so got room for my purhcases, thanks folks.

Are you driving from Banff to Vancouver? There's a great shop in Canmore, Alberta thesugarpine.com

Are you spending any time in Vancouver? The only shop right down town is on Granville Island as far as I know. http://theclothshop.com/

If you will be driving and spending time in the area there are a few more shops I can recommend for you to visit.

Where on the cruise are you making port. I took an Alaskan cruise last summer with a group of quilters. I found a shop in every port except one and that was the day I wasn't feeling well.

Hi Donac, we will make port in Ketchakin, Skagway and Juneau, thanks

That was VERY clever of you to increase your luggage allowance. Hope you have fun.

I made the Alaska trip last September. There are quilt shops in Juneau and Skagway. Loved them both. The shop in Ketchican was for sale when I was there, but I hope it was purchased by someone and is still open. Beautiful fabrics and kits, all Alaska themed. I was sick in Juneau, so missed that shop.

All of those Alaskan stops have quilt shops in them.

I agree that the one Ketickan was for sale. I don't know where the one in Juneau was but there is a yarn shop above it. The one in Skagway is in the historic district downtown. It is down a side street. As you are walking in to skagway the street will be on your left.

I had some fabric shipped home from skagway. They were packing the boxes as soon as you checked out. It was there waiting for me when I got home. The rest I put into my carry on. I do know someone who went way over the weight limit.

The fabric just have a very Alaskan flair. I bought pillowcases with wolves on them. Dh picked them out while I was looking over the store.
