One of my cats ended up being called "pooper" because he had an issue when he got very old.

my cat, whom is a grey Russian Blue, is my baby, so we call her Little Girl.
this way it doesn't disturb her when she hears her name, and come running. sometimes, Princess |
I also want to add, that when we want Zoey to do something, we call, Zoey", first to get her attention. then the command. she knows about 15 words, and the commands and what to do. I spend a lot of time with her. some people think too much at times. but she is a love, and sleeps under the blankets with us. Backup is a command for when she's under the balankets. she know what it means.

When we don't want our dog to get excited about talking to/about him, we call him the Canine Unit and we have to spell (he is a super intelligent Golden Retriever--smartest dog I've ever had). "Did you f-e-e-d the Canine Unit tonight?" Pup, Pupper, Pupster, Brat, Pest, Boy, Mutt, Hairy Wonder. His name is Reilly , so sometimes we call him "Rei Guy".
We don't have cats, so they don't get referred to collectively very often. Growing up on a farmette, we had cats, and they were always "the cats" or referred to by name. Miss Kitty, Punch and Judy, Gabe, and Missy were their names. We had a horse and she was always called by name or Pretty Girl or Beautiful Beast. |
I'm down to just one dog now - Miss Moira Mae is a Border Collie mix. She answers to Baby Girl and Punker. She was the 'cutie' half of the Beauty and the Cutie. We lost the beauty in December, so Cutie isn't used much anymore.

It depends on what they have been up to at a particular moment in time! LOL!
|
Feline and Canine of course

Charley26 You actually can command a cat. I do it all the time. They are just as easy to train as dogs but I find people never bother to train because they assume cats can't be

Oh we love our dogs! We've been fortunate to have never lost a dog before 12 1/2 years...so we haven't had very many. Right now we have Mia (a 6 year old yellow Lab) and Claire a 5 year old Catahoula mix (she was a rescue)... and together they are "the girls"... They respond to "Girls, let's go out" or wherever we're headed. They play together and nap together and warm my feet together while I'm quilting! Well, Mia warms my feet...Claire heads for the ONE chair in the house they can occupy! :D Love my girls!!
I work one day every week or two as receptionist at a veterinary clinic...I found a small panel that I'm going to make for the clinic as a small wall hanging...it says "Dogs have owners; cats have staffs!" And it is SO TRUE at our clinic!! hahahaha!!! |
His name is Scooter but I call him
Roober Petutter Skindoodle Stinkerbelle Rintoodles Pestery Pesterer Ruby Petoodly......... |
Kit Kat; Pooch
|
I refer to dogs as dogs and cats as cats. My friend has cats that she adores but whose names I can never remember so I call them her fur babies as she babies them a LOT! I refer to my dog by her name but sometimes I call her pretty girl and sweetie.
|
I just remembered that when my boys were little we had nicknames for them too!!
|
We adopted a cat when it's owner passed away. She was a very pudgy cat and her name was Li'l Girl. The cat we already had is petite and twice the age of the new cat. She also was born without much of a tail, a little puff is all she has. Older cat's name is Jazzy but I usually call her my baby or jazzer. The younger and newer cat has a normal tail and is much larger than Jazzy. I could not make myself call her Lil' Girl, since she is so much the larger cat, so we started calling her Tail Kitty or Tail Cat.
A diet brought back her slim gracefulness, but she is still much the larger cat, so TC, or Tail Cat seems to have stuck. She was 5 when her original owner passed, but she has made a great adjustment and is happy here. |
I have "Facey face", Bean, and Trony tron

When I was little, pigs were "oink-oinks", cows were "moo-moos", chickens were "chicabiddies", the cats were "puddies or puddy-tats". The sheep were just "sheep or lambs" - we did not have horses - and the dog was "dog". The house pets had names, and so did some of the cows. |
Oh boy, that reminds me of my aunt who is a nun. She was worried about my Mom staying with us for awhile as Mom is allergic to cats. My aunt said "Why can't you just get rid of them"? Yes, she said that. My Mom told her that there is no way we would do that nor would she want us to. She loves our cats.
My aunt hasn't a clue......... |
