craftybear 12-30-2010 02:13 PM

we had 5 inches of snow on the ground in central Indiana, but today the sun is out and up to 48 degrees and the snow is melting

we also had an earthquake at our house this morning 3.8 and was only like 5 miles from our house, loud noise and shook our house

I'd love some - send it on down! We had 9.5 inches fall on Christmas Eve - today it has rained and washed almost all of it away. Strange weather...

Crafty, my dear cousin in NY called me to see if I felt it in Ohio- I didn't even know about it until she called!!!

MinnieKat 12-30-2010 05:37 PM

I'm in north eastern Minnesota. Our snow is all melting ... it rained all day today. Tomorrow supposed to turn to snow and then get really cold ... I love when that happens ... NOT!!

Mrs B 12-30-2010 05:42 PM

G'Day, you can all send your snow to us. Here in South Australia we have a day of 41 degree heat (105.8) with high winds. The whole state is on high fire alert with fire bans across most of the state. Some parts are designated 'catastophic'. That means that all public parks and outdoor areas are closed. Schools would be closed too in those areas but it is holiday time for the children.
So you see some snow would just help to lower the temp a bit for the next few hours till the cool change arrives.

kateyb 12-30-2010 05:51 PM

One of the ski areas here has 155" of base.
We got snow finally in our area.

Yes, I'll deal with 17" of snow in NYC if I still get my winter oranges!

b.zang 12-30-2010 07:10 PM

It always amazes me that even though I live at a much more northerly latitude than you, our weather is far more moderate. Thought Canada was supposed to be the frozen north. We have snow, but wish we had LOTS more!

Three Boys Quilting 12-30-2010 07:26 PM

Thanks! But we have plenty of snow and cold already. Are you taking advantage of the weather and staying in to quilt???? Seems to be a good excuse for me......
Stay warm!

Carol J. 12-31-2010 06:24 AM

Look at snow as a blessing, at least you don't have to mow the lawn.

katlady 12-31-2010 06:47 AM

We have about 15" more yesterday, can't see the church next door anymore.
I live about 45 miles north of Brainerd.

grannypat7925 12-31-2010 07:17 AM

I do not envy you. We were right in the middle of the big snows, one midwest and one eastern seaboard. We in central Ohio only got about an inch and a half!

CGail 12-31-2010 07:36 AM

Living in Texas, we don't see much snow. I love to see it falling and then afterwards also, but I'm ready for it to go after a couple of days. My husband is from Wisconsin, and he misses the snow; but he doesn't want to go back to it. - Cynthia

MN Gamma 12-31-2010 07:40 AM

I am just north of St. Paul. I understand.

drdolly 12-31-2010 07:57 AM

here in central Ia. it was 43 with melting snow and later today it is suppose to change to maybe rainstorm then ice, can hardly wait. NOT!

Sophie2 12-31-2010 08:01 AM

We have been having rain the past couple days so most of our snow is gone. Love the snow and if I don't want to go out it gives me a great excuse to hide in my "bat cave" and stitch all day. LOVE IT.

gloria11 12-31-2010 11:14 AM

I am in ohio, we had a few inches of beautiful white stuff and then it rain yesterday.. its all gone. now just a ugly muddy mess..I want more snow

Feathers 12-31-2010 11:56 AM

I'm so sorry you're having so much snow. My family is from northern Minnesota. My dad went into the service and was stationed all over the country. They found out one important thing....there were other, more weather friendly places to live withOUT mosquitos the size of hummingbirds so when he was discharged, they settled in the Pacific NW. Careful when you shovel that snow and stay home if you don't have to go out.

Patchworkmarion 12-31-2010 12:33 PM

Yes please. I would love to see snow here in Ipswich,Australia.

mhansen6 12-31-2010 12:49 PM

Just got back from Minnesota. We had Christmas with my daughter and son-in-law and our first granddaughter.
We never left the house. Too cold and too much snow.

Lizzie 12-31-2010 02:12 PM

Having a heat wave. Temps 50 or so, had rain this morning and sun this afternoon. Melted almost all our snow. Happy New Year!

catrancher 12-31-2010 02:30 PM

Thanks, but we have our own in Portland, Oregon--at least at the higher elevations, where I live.

C.Cal Quilt Girl 12-31-2010 02:44 PM

Rain here, Third wettest Dec. in the last 100 yrs, and some of the Mountain range at 200% plus, should help fill the ground water that was getting somewhat low (Yah)
Down side it has to go somewhere, and has made a mess of some areas, mud slides, flooding, tearing up the roads.
Saw this morning down under having a big o mess with some flooding.
You all in the northern states burrr.....

More heading East colder storms coming thru !!

jojosnana 12-31-2010 02:47 PM

Ah, I will pass on that. Wouldn't mind if it never snowed again as long as it snowed on Christmas Eve and day.

akrogirl 12-31-2010 04:36 PM

No snow in my part of the valley, but we can see the snow on Four Peaks from our backyard. It looks very pretty from a distance ;-)
