I know the eastern states are having a nasty winter but here in Alberta we are having a winter that beats all. I live in Edmonton which is in central Alberta. Last weekend we received 34 cm (13 in.) of snow in a matter of 24 hours. We haven't had this much snow since 1989. We are now in a deep freeze, today it is -24 C (11 F) but with wind chill factor it is -35 (-31 F). You do not want to be outside too long. Best to stay in a occupy the sewing room.

I'm in Southern California-today it is actually really mild and sunny-I live in the mountains in North East San Diego and it has been really cold, but the last couple days are lovely!

np3 01-14-2011 10:50 AM

This makes my bones hurt! It's in the low 40s here and I stay inside. Enjoy your quilting!

In the 40's here in TX! Been very bone chilling all week though, today is the warmest! Not used to long spells of this here!

pab58 01-14-2011 12:30 PM

In Troy, Michigan (where I work) it's currently 26 F and the "Feels like Temp" is 19 F. :| I'm not sure if I could handle your frigid weather!! I can deal with cold temps much lower than we currently are having, but only for a short period of time! Please, please, please don't send us an Arctic Blast!!!!! :-( We aren't the extreme hardy souls that you are!!

Sadiemae 01-14-2011 12:48 PM

It is above 40 degrees today and I feel like we having a heat wave.

Rachel 01-14-2011 12:52 PM

I'm in Iowa. We're currently having a heat wave... its 20 degrees. Yesterday was 8 with a wind chill of 13 below.

skyle1968 01-14-2011 01:53 PM

I am in Southeast Louisiana (south of New Orleans) and currently it is 46 degrees, but the low lastnight was 27 or so. It's been pretty chilly here for a couple of weeks and we're not used to that hehe

25 degrees her in Pittsburgh. Way to cold for me. Every once in awhile it snow flurries. Supposed to get more snow tomorrow for the playoff game.

harvsstuff 01-14-2011 02:24 PM

In sunny warm Florida it was around 22 this am. Too darn cold for me.

Overlander 01-14-2011 02:27 PM

We woke at 7am to -27C which is about -7F and heavy snow. At the moment 2:25 pm it is -20C/-4F, the snow has stopped but is due to start up again tonight and the temps are rising to -14C/+6F. We have had over 12 inches of snow in the last 48 hours. Don't know what our totals will end up. We are supposed to get snow every day till about Tuesday. Should be interesting. Haven't had a winter like this in a long time.

I don't think I can really fathom this type of cold! Its in the low forties here today and that is as cold as I care for it to be. 13 inches of snow! You would probably die laughing at how crazy it gets here over a snow flurry that doesn't "stick"!

brushandthimble 01-14-2011 03:51 PM

19 this morning, after 24 inches of snow on Wed.

Shemjo 01-14-2011 04:17 PM

We got above freezing today with sunshine and it felt positively balmy! I think it was up to 38 degrees! No wind and still a couple inches of snow on the ground, but it is melting slowly. We are supposed to be above freezing again tomorrw, so a little more melting will help. Slush will most likely freeze tonight, so I must remember to be careful in the morning.

samifel 01-14-2011 04:30 PM

Downeast Maine will be about 5 below 0 F tonight

jljack 01-14-2011 04:46 PM

Here in Bakersfield we have had low to mid 50's for a whole week or more, with nights down to low 40's. Our houses (at least the older ones) were not built for cold weather...we have little or no insulation. So, we have to run the furnace at 68 deg during the day and 64 deg at night. Otherwise the whole house gets too darn cold, including walls, furniture, everything. I wear sweaters indoors and out. I am hoping we get back to "normal", which is about 58-60 deg right now.

I sure could use some sunshine. We had a little today, but now it's cloudy and overcast again.

Becky Crafts 01-14-2011 05:45 PM

At this point it's 50 degrees in Central Florida. Last night we had freeze warnings. We came here from NH, almost 12 yrs ago, so we can really relate with you folks!! Hugs!

sherrill 01-15-2011 04:47 AM

It was -4 this morning at about 6 am,the wind is calm though for the time.We have had a lot of wind.Spring will come sure as anything.

marthe brault-hunt 01-15-2011 04:50 AM

19 F in Montreal and still no snow! The weatherperson is joking about this lack of snow. I've got to watch TV news to enjoy it.!

brushandthimble 01-15-2011 04:59 AM

weather man on now, it is 7, that is seven degrees, high may reach 30, maybe. And I have to go to work:(

Shari1967 01-15-2011 05:03 AM

We're averaging the 30's in the day right now although I think today we may see 45. If the sun decides to shine it'll be a very nice 45 but no sun it'll seem colder than 45 that's for sure. The weather here is stranger than anywhere else I've lived. I think it's in the 20's and low 30's at night but I'm toasty warm in my house sleeping so I don't pay mind to those temps LOL

stitchinwitch 01-15-2011 05:14 AM

its not the cold that gets us down, its the darned WIND! But lets brace ourselves - soon it will be HOT SCORCHING air with insects and sticky skin!

lots2do 01-15-2011 05:29 AM

-3 around 6 this morning, brrr. Now up to the teens.

DoxieMom 01-15-2011 06:44 AM

2 nights of freezing weather in north central Florida this week. Wore 5 layers outdoors several days this week!

Joanne 01-15-2011 07:00 AM

It is 1(one) degree F here in Mass. The snow will never melt!

MaggieLou 01-15-2011 07:05 AM

It's 30 here with lows in the mid 20's last night. Snow still on the ground from Monday. I'm going back to Central FL. The last two winters here have been the coldest in years.

hikingquilter 01-15-2011 07:06 AM

2 degrees when I got up this morning. It's now 'warmed up' to 8 (at 10am). Glad I got the fabric yesterday to start a new project today!

gollytwo 01-15-2011 07:07 AM

RJElliott 01-15-2011 07:14 AM
