I not only do not like squirrels but I HATE them. I live in a pecan orchard and we must have millions of them they chewed through an electric wire coming to the house and caused two 110 volt wires to touch and become 220 volts coming into the house and when the wires touched everything that happen to be "on" was fried. I had to replace my freezer, lamps and other electric appliances such as toaster, etc. they are a menace and not as "cute" as one would think. there have even been reports of them chewing the wires under car hoods causing problems. you would think the nuts from the trees would be enough for them, NOT.

I put food outside our patio door all winter. The cats love to watch them, I call it Cat TV.

We have huge live oak trees and too many squirrels. They are destructive to potted plants but we've been discouraging that with coffee grounds and/or cayenne pepper on top of the soil. But I do love to watch them scamper and jump...and our weiner dogs make great sport of chasing them but never catching them.

I used to hang dried corn cobs for them...screw an eye-bolt into the end of the cob then suspend it from a length of chain looped around a tree branch. Put it far enough out on the branch that it hangs clear of the tree...that way they have to work to get to it and you will see some antics for sure! One squirrel finally learned to pull the chain up until he could grab the cob then he would hold it and chomp away!

I wouldn't use the cobs now that I have dogs...mimom's story is a good lesson!

I think our dogs ate one last week. I found a patch of fur in their pen.

We have lots of them around here. My sister has quite a collection of them and always looking for another different one. We watch their antics a lot in our back yard.

They chew wires, wood etc. They eat the bird seed, my apricots and blackberries etc. Also bird eggs I am told.
We have a massive relocation project. Trap them and take them to the lake where they have water, oak trees and people that feed them. They are happy and so am I.

I love squirrels! We have grey ones and Douglas Fir tree squirrels also. The DF ones are faster than the grey ones and quite a bit smaller. I love watching them all. Also like to watch the rabbits in our yard. One neighbor hates squirrels (rats with fuzzy tails) and complains about them. He doesn't realize we feed them to attract them here! The other neighbor says rabbits are only coyote food!

I know they can be very destructive but I still like them. We had one that we trained to eat out of our hands. She would sit on our laps, take her peanut, run and hide it and then return for more. She would go on for hours doing this if you didn't quit. She would also run up your leg and into your pocket to get her peanut. She disappeared one day and haven't seen her since. I'm guessing a bigger critter got her. Funny, how I still check to see if she might be back

I, too, have them! However, they sit in my apple tree, take a few bites of my developing apples, sit, smile, and wave at me as they throw the remaining apple to the ground!@#! I will win this year!!!
