Are we watching another mare yet? Have I missed pictures of Karla's babies? Am I a slug or what? Painting a living room when I could be watching foals be born?????

Catch me up, I'm in withdrawals. Besides which I need something to keep me in my bed watching a mare so the soreness will go away.

Hugs everyone,
Sharon

barnbum 04-11-2009 05:31 PM

Oh--I hope you're not sore for long! Did you try tea with honey and Ibuprofen? So, what color?

I just came in from the barn--and both udders have grown from this morning... but I still think we're a few days away. The milk isn't sticky at all, and the mares aren't stomping, or tail swishing. I've seen a few belly bies though. I checked them every two hours last night... and will tonight, but I'm not expecting anything to share with you for a bit...

and I'm very tired... so headed to bed for a few.

tlrnhi 04-12-2009 03:22 AM

I'm sure Kay will post another thread once she puts Star in the stall. I know her cam is down at the moment.

Oh no...it's just not time for anyone to be in the stall yet.

I went over to Bit O Blue and the cam there doesn't seem to be working. I just get a black screen. :(
I haven't really had much time to watch anything lately. Have some things I need to get done around the house. Plus, Courtney has a JOB ! ! ! ! WOOHOO!! SO, I'll be taking her back and forth to work until we can get her a drivers license. That should take about a month or so. UGH!

mimisharon 04-12-2009 04:54 AM

Oh, wonderful! Lots of taxi service and house things! I'm so sick of painting that I'd take taxi duty for you if I could! :| Now is that desparate or what?

What work is she doing? Is she taking college courses online or will she wait until she gets back here? NC has lots of nice colleges...hint hint!

tlrnhi 04-12-2009 05:04 AM

She's got a job at a health food store. It's a nice place. The lady that owns it ONLY hires military spouses/family members, so it's a good thing.
She's taking classes online with Univ of MD, only has 2 that she is signed up for at the moment, but has to wait until next semester because the lady at the college here forgot to send in the paperwork. UGH!

Tink's Mom 04-12-2009 05:14 AM

I think I am in withdrawal!!!!! I need some mare stare to perk me up!!!

barnbum 04-12-2009 05:16 AM

You could come over and set up a chair by my pastures... I'd appreciate it so I could go to Easter dinner.

tlrnhi 04-12-2009 05:17 AM

Can you send the jet for me? I'll be there as soon as I can! Tell Rosie to save ALL her kisses for me! :) :)

Tink's Mom 04-12-2009 05:21 AM

Karla, I would love it!!! You got any ideas what I can do with the houseful of people that are going to want Easter Dinner here???

Guess I am just a little bummed out today. No help from any family, just the come over and sit down to eat kind. 12 or more coming over this afternoon(always a couple that don't let you know they are coming!) Mom would help if she could, but she is still in terrible pain from the broken tailbone.
Thanks for listening, I think I feel better. Hope the mares wait till after the dishes are done!!!

tlrnhi 04-12-2009 05:23 AM

You can do what we did! We went out for brunch! lol
Filled our bellies, then came home and napped!

barnbum 04-12-2009 05:31 AM

Just checked udders and under tails for the third time today (it's only 9:30 AM!) and Chloe looks just too puckery/loose back there for me to leave.. so it's going to be a quiet Easter Sunday for me. It's windy and cold--20-25 mph and 35*--so I'll want to get them in stalls later anyway. I really wanted to see Rachel--her dad is picking her up and her brother is taking her home--but she'll be home mid May for a few days before she heads to Alaska... sigh.... guess I'll get some quilting done.

Just read your note, Tink's Mom. I would love some company today! Just fix the food--set the table and let them all fend for themselves. Then come here. I feel badly about not contributing to dinner at the in-laws, but my m-i-l loves this stuff and doesn't want anything... she knows I'm on mare stare now anyway.... I'll have to have them over later to make up for it. I always help a ton with clean up when I'm there...

tlrnhi 04-12-2009 05:33 AM

Aww....I'm sorry you can't spend part of the day with everyone, but I'm sure they all understand the needs of the horses. Have a quiet day finishing some sewing and checking the girls. Maybe you'll have an Easter foal? Wouldn't that be nice? :)
And, maybe you'll get some leftovers brought home too! :)

barnbum 04-12-2009 05:36 AM

Chloe is a holiday foaler--#1 Blessing was a Mother's Day #2 Claire was one hour before my b-day... #3?? -She can't wait until my b-day this time, so Easter is her only option.

tlrnhi 04-12-2009 05:37 AM

Ok, will keep my fingers crossed that she foals today for you. :)

Tink's Mom--Just leave 'em all, our family lives far away and we would love company although I have to tell you we are going "out". The kitchen is closed!
Or, just get a few pizzas---sounds good to me. Shame on your family for not volunteering to bring sides dishes or whatever. (and don't forget the paper plates!--get pretty ones with flowers or Easter Eggs on them...festive, don't you think?)

Karla--sorry, you have barn duty but we'll be so excited to see your new little ones.......it's not too long until May and Rachel will be home. I really missed mine when they went away to school, too, and enjoyed the summers. (until they got jobs elsewhere....lol)

Terri--Well, how was Easter? Big dinner? I hope you didn't forget Big Boy, he expects little treats on special days.

Amma---I think you had just better own up to it and get a baby of your own to watch! Who wouldn't want a miniature horse??????

Mimi---Have you had a cold or something, sorry to hear you have been under the weather.....apparently I missed that somewhere along the way

dunster 04-12-2009 08:13 AM

I've been watching the Pacific Pintos mares. Two have foals in the stalls, really cute, and two are due "soon".

http://wefoal.com/_wfcams/pacpintos/cam.php

Tink's Mom 04-12-2009 09:41 AM

Well, I will surely be waiting to hear if we have a filly tonight... Will make the company so much better.

Yes, I am going with Chinet plates. I have a dishwasher, but with all the other extras, it will still be 2 loads without the dinner plates. Why don't you stop by for dessert? I'm having lemony cupcakes with fluffy white frosting and cheesecake. I'll put the coffee on and the front light...

I would love to have a mini :D :D I started playing with them 18 years ago when my brother's neighbors had them :D :D I do not think that they would enjoy apartment living or I would have one :D I could just see the neighbors faces as I took them for a walk

Thanks for the invitation! We would love to come, the cupcakes sound so good for Spring, but we're a little too far away.....sigh

Having been in your spot many times, I would actually like to help you load the dishwasher, etc.......and besides I make terrific deviled eggs!

Maybe some day......When my daughter (now grown up) was in Brownies, I was the leader. The most memorable trip we took was to visit a "Miniature Horse Farm". I don't know who liked it more the girls or me. My daughter and I still talk about it.

amma 04-12-2009 10:17 AM

The farm is still there, they have not bred their mares for years now....I still stop in occasionally and give them carrots and apples :D :D Now where my brother lives they have quarter horses next door. These neighbors are not as friendly, but we enjoy watching the babies from a distance :D :D

kaykay 04-12-2009 03:38 PM

Hi guys!

Happy Easter!

We have all been sick with some strange dang virus. Right now my eyes are all swollen and burning. I think I must have a sinus infection that went to my eyes. Went to urgent care today and they arent open LOL. just my luck

Okay I have no defense here but I really screwed up my breeding dates from last year. I had written them on a calendar and then switched them to a datebook When I switched them I must have put the dates on the wrong months.

Soooooo star looks like shes not even close to foaling so I suspect shes due June 1st instead of May 1st.

But ummmm Patches that I had down being due June 10th is now making a bag. I suspect she is due May 7th.

Soooooooo next up on cam will be our beloved Patches with our first Feature foal.

I cannot believe how badly I screwed these dates up!

amma 04-12-2009 03:45 PM

I'm sorry you have all been sick, hopefully you will all be on the mend soon!!!! Don't these clinics know that people get sick on Easter, too?????

Well Patches.....get busy!!!!  We are all needing to get our mare stare fix!!!!  May 7th, huh, that seems like such a loooong way off

Tink's Mom 04-12-2009 04:23 PM

Feel Better Kay! You need to get well so that you can start staring with us!
Glad you got the dates set now.

tlrnhi 04-12-2009 05:11 PM

Oh Kay! Get better quick!
Shame on you for mistaking the dates! lol
That's ok, just keep US on our toes! :) :)

Patches is going to be SOOOO much fun to watch! NOT! lol

Just post a new thread when you put the cam back up! We will be here!

mimisharon 04-12-2009 05:27 PM

"Mimi---Have you had a cold or something, sorry to hear you have been under the weather.....apparently I missed that somewhere along the way"

Oh, no, Joan, not really. Just had that stupid vine breakout and had to be on steroids, then the steroid ENERGY hit me so we painted the living room, three days worth. I needed the rest of a day to recoup so I can put the pictures, etc. back up. I have the to old to be doing this itis AND the pine pollen has been naggin' me. I didn't ever have allergies to anything except poison ivy until I turned 55. sighh

Kay, not to worry, dates will not deter the STARE crowd!!! We're on call and ready for duty ma'am! Just please let us know that all is back up and ready to go.

barnbum 04-12-2009 05:44 PM

Here's one supposed to go soon: http://www.marestare.com/cam.php?alias=mjspainted

sharon b 04-12-2009 06:17 PM

kay it doesn't matter that the horses don't match the dates... We will soon have another mare stare and that is what counts  Keep us posted..

And by the way hope you and the family all feel much better soon, that is also very important !
Sharon

kwhite 04-12-2009 06:37 PM

After reading this thread I am glad I am a city girl. I didn't understand most of what you were saying but what I did I don't think I could handle. I am a hard core sissy!!!!!! I am happy to OOOOO and AAHHHH over the babies after they are here and cleaned up!! HAHA Good luck.

barnbum 04-12-2009 06:41 PM

Ha ha kwhite...I will join the ranks of the weak of heart right after these next two foals. :D This is too tiring for me--to much mystery--too much waiting and wondering... I don't want to do this anymore. I'm so glad my stallion is gelded!

Then I will just be Kay's cheerleader. Ra Ra Ra! Right now I'm too tired to lift a pompom.

tlrnhi 04-12-2009 06:42 PM

I couldn't do the "dirty" stuff. I could get towels, boil water and take pics, but anything other than that, I'd be a blubbering mess!!!

barnbum 04-12-2009 06:44 PM

Aww--Terri--tying up a placenta? Nothing to it. Kneading till the umbilical cord is separated--piece of cake. Foal enemas? Easy.

tlrnhi 04-12-2009 06:46 PM

I'll take your word for it. Not my "cup of tea" so to speak. Like I said....I'll stand back and hand what needs to be handed to whom ever and take pictures.
I took Courtney to get her PPD shot on Friday....I had to stand on the other side of the room! lol

barnbum 04-12-2009 06:49 PM

I need a photographer--seriously. And I need someone to text Angie so she can report here,.... I'll have to wipe my hands well on my pants and do it myself. .
Going to catch some zzz while Mark is up...
