This is not my original idea but I like it and thought I would pass it along because it is a clever idea for sewing rooms with carpeting.

Purchase a toilet bowel cleaning brush and before you vacuum run this brush across the carpets to pick up the threads. This way these pesky little clippings will not get tangled up into the vacuum cleaners brushes. And we all know what a job it is to remove them.

Well, neat idea but then I'd be cleaning the floor twice. 8-)

I use a cheap floor vac just for my sewing room. ;)

Great idea but NO carpet in my hobby room. #1 reason, I'm diabetic and my DH and I our both nurses an are terrifed of a needle getting stuck in the carpet. My grand mother lost a leg after she stepped on a pin and couldn't feel it, led to infection and lost of limb.
If you have carpet in yours PLEASE BECAREFUL!!!!

I don't understand not wearing shoes in the house. I don't like anyone to go without shoes in my house. NO taking off your shoes if you visit me please. Unless my shoes are muddy or wet, I detest having to take off my shoes when I visit anyone. I think I'm the only house left that the family don't kick off their shoes first thing in the door.

QuiltE 04-10-2011 04:43 PM

I've been contemplating buying a mini carpet sweeper. I hear there's some good ones.

Your suggestion would be much more affordable ... Dollar Store potential, even!

BellaBoo ... I'm totally an inside shoe wearer too! Seldom do I have my shoes off in my home.

tolepainter54 04-10-2011 05:23 PM

Thanks for the idea.

jitkaau 04-11-2011 03:36 AM

My next purchase!

SueDor 04-11-2011 03:38 AM

Thanks for the suggestion!

bamamama 04-11-2011 03:41 AM

Great Idea. I need to get a razor blade to get the strings off my vacumn today, in fact and I'm not looking forward to it.

Janet My 04-11-2011 04:02 AM

I like that idea, and it will work for my sewing room, but not for the rest of the house. I have a long haired dog. I spend every cleaning day cutting the hair out of my beater bar. The thread is nothing. LOL

CarrieAnne 04-11-2011 04:09 AM

great idea!

Monie 04-11-2011 04:43 AM

GGinMcKinney 04-11-2011 04:57 AM

Also, I run the magnetic wand over the carpet before vacuuming to pick up fallen pins and needles.

ns 04-11-2011 05:02 AM

Never would have thought of that. Thanks for sharing.

ann clare 04-11-2011 05:56 AM

karenpatrick 04-11-2011 05:58 AM

Good idea. Thanks.

karenpatrick 04-11-2011 06:01 AM

We never take our shoes off in our house unless they are muddy and we don't make our company do it either.
