Love all of the above and I also plant "Lemon Boy". They are low acid and have a wonderful taste. Also look great in a salad.
Also a little better for you if you're prone to inflammation. I have a client who's on TV and gives classes about eating natural, local, etc. I brought her stuff from the garden last year and she taught me about what I was growing. ;)

Oh! this is good to know! We don't often lose the plants, but we like the garlic, mint, and peas in the garden. I'll plant them closer to each other from now on.
Re: space, I uprooted anything in the front yard that wasn't a food plant, other than the cedar and the lilac. Now the beds in the front yard are a garden. Most of the garden plants flower anyway. :)

Don't have to plow. Check out organic gardening. Choose a couple of different kinds to see which you like. If it is just a summer garden you will only need a few of each. If you plan for the winter you will need a lot.

I always planted Romas and rutgers for canning and big boys for slicing and sandwiches. I have grown the golden tomatoes, low in acid and have even canned some of them; they have to have lemon juice added for canning due to the low acid, but are very pretty in the jar.

Early Girl and Better Boy are my favorites. They are nice and firm. DH plants all kinds - not even sure what and I can them but for salads it's gotta be my faves.
