Ruters are a good red tomato. Its a old verity that eats and cans good. Also makes good juice.

Rutgers, sorry I spelled it wrong it the one before this.

We always had good luck with the Big Boys and the Better Boys...my grandson-in-law also grew some heirloom tomatoes this year that were good....different, but good. SC is a good tomato-growing area!

I love sun gold cherry tomatoes.

We have a medium size garden. 8 feet by 12 feet. We plant a variety. Early girls, big boys, better boys, plum. I can about 70 quarts every year, pluss sauce, pizza sauce, and sometimes salsa.
|
I grow cherry tomatoes, Big Boy, and Early Girl. I tried Romas this year but they didn't do well (but I didn't feed them this year, so maybe they could have done better).

We have a large tomato garden, with close to 70 plants of different varieties. I prefer grapes to cherries, as they seem to be less fragile than the cherries. A couple of nice, tasty heirloom varieties are always tasty and also pretty. And I like beefsteaks. Mmm. And lots of basil plants :)

Love all of the above and I also plant "Lemon Boy". They are low acid and have a wonderful taste. Also look great in a salad.
|
Since we have a limited area, we only plant Big Boy.
