I worked at the infamous Central Falls High School for many years and a lot of the names were different. We had a boy whose first name was Junior, a Princess, Jerifer, Nevaeh which is heaven spelled backwards. Genesis, Xiomara, Beberly, and Milady. My DGD's name is Delilah. My DD's names are Felicia and Merri-Ellen.

In seventy two years I have never met anyone with my name--Ione--(I own). And do not ask me what I own because I would probably scream, after 12 years of hearing it in school. I have met many Iona"s , I was named after my great grandmother who"s last name was Drinkwater.

My own first name isn't that common. Celeste (I got teased a lot about "apondanza" spelling?) the pizza.

My father was named after his father Myron Nels.
My youngest brother's name is Nels.

I am 73 and my (Italy born) father named me after one of the King of Italy's (at the time) daughters. He had four. There is another Yolanda on the Board who was named after the 1930s 40s dancing star with a partner by the name of Yolanda and Valez.

yes, puff the magic dragon, sang to me a lot when i was a kid. i still like my name. i dont need to even use my last name most of the time. ive tried to find the origin of the name with no luck, my mom says her mom named her that but her daddy couldnt remember/pronounce it and was embarrased, so when his friends asked what they named her he said "Shirley" and that was her name!

You don't here any of those very often.

Although I knew 2 other Phyllis' when I was growing up - both older than me.
Then just a year ago met a 9 year old named Phyllis. She looked at me and said she didn't like her name because it was an 'Old person's name"! her mother scolded her for her comment. lol

I've never liked my name either, but could never figure out what to change it to.

thats funny, my dmil is Phyllis, my dggm was Mertyl, and my great aunt was Arlene!

Growing up in the thumb in the 60s-70s, I knew a family who had a daughter named Onalee. They lived in Millington.
