I found this interesting enough to pass along. Enjoy!

Bounce This Along

My mail carrier told me that the U.S. Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away.

Use them all the time when playing baseball and soccer. I use it when I am working outside. It really works. The insects just veer around you.

All this time you've just been putting Bounce in the dryer!

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.

2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.

3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.

4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.

5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.

6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling..

7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.

9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.

10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.

12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.

13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan..

14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.

15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.

16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds.. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.

17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.

22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe lovebugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

Quick, bounce this on within the next 5 minutes! Nothing will happen if you don't, but your friends will be glad to hear these hints!

I put a bounce sheet underneath my car seat...makes the car smell so fresh without having to hang one of those trees on my rearview mirror

Colorful Quilter 03-05-2011 09:03 PM

WOW!! thanks for the info

frugalfabrics 03-05-2011 09:05 PM

My sister always puts bunches of them in her camper when they close it up for the winter...she swears by it...keeps all the mice out.

grammysews4u 03-05-2011 09:10 PM

does any one know if it has to be bounce to keep away bugs, or could you use a generic?

I was wondering the same thing because I don't buy bounce.

Thanks. I knew some of these but always glad to get more ideas.

NDQuilts 03-06-2011 05:10 AM

How about quilting uses like foundations for paper peicing or for crumb blocks.

I don't think a quilter came up with this list or I am positive those would have been on the list too. :-)

QazyQltr 03-06-2011 05:40 AM

I also use them to clean/shine sink faucets.

Flo Pierce 03-06-2011 05:44 AM

Put a dryer sheet over the top edge of your waste basket by ]
your sewing machine and when threads cling to your hand or
what every just rub along that sheet and get rid of it.

Thanks for lots of great uses of the dryer sheets.

I'm going to try a one down a gopher hole and see what happens. Connie in CO

Sheila_H 03-06-2011 07:40 AM

I put them inside our dogs bed it zippers on/off so when I wash the top and put the pad back in I always put new bounce sheets inside and dog loves it, he rolls all over the clean dog bed.
I put the snuggle's ones inside the dresser drawers for when guests come and I use the lavendar scented ones and the room has a very light lavendar smell to it.
I also stick them in my husband's hockey bag which he hates because when he's in the locker room everyone can smell the bounce lol

dreamer2009 03-06-2011 07:50 AM

Love the info !!

mtspools 03-06-2011 07:56 AM

Going to try them in mail box to keep earwigs out. Hate them little critters.

LOL!! Connie!! ; )

This is all great advice... and me,too... wondering about the generic! Is Bounce the think blue spongy type sheets? We get generic... thin white filmy stuff.

Barbm 03-06-2011 08:35 AM

I use Downy sheets, going to try them in the garage. I've been saving the used ones, but I will never use them all up at the rate of 10 loads of wash per week.

quiltlonger 03-06-2011 08:44 AM

No. 10 I needed last night while doing my binding Now need to finish something else so can try it!!

Is this for Bounce only or for any kind of softener sheet? I can't see spending all kinds of money on Bounce if I can do the same with the generic softener sheets!!!!!! Edie

Sometimes the fabric sprays and stuff are not good for an animals skin. Check that one out first. I used to spray Febreeze on our furniture and sprinkle that powder on the floor and vacuum it up. That's a no-no. Not good for animals. Edie

cjomomma 03-07-2011 04:30 AM

Edie I don't know if the generic sheets work too but it wouldn't hurt to try it. I don't use bounce too expensive for me.

Kayceee 03-07-2011 04:46 AM

Generic sheets work just as well.
Also: Clean/remove "unwanteds" from the bottom of your iron.
Use as stabilizer when embroidering.

mderby 03-07-2011 05:12 AM

Thanks! I'll be using my Bounce more often.

brookemarie19 03-07-2011 05:24 AM

Thanks for the list! I see so many possibilities now

Yooper32 03-07-2011 05:31 AM

Put one in your Featherweight case to "try" to eliminate or cover up that horrid musty smell they all seem to have.

rannyof3 03-07-2011 05:49 AM

I've also been cutting mine in half and they work just as well as a whole one. SAVES MONEY

dolores 03-07-2011 05:54 AM

Thanks for the info.

bluteddi 03-07-2011 07:14 AM

I send each bouce sheet ( or which ever brand I bought this month) thru twice... there is still plenty of "bounce/scent/de-cling left for a second load of laundry.

Lots of ppl use the sheets for foundation pieceing.. but warn it is highly flammable. So use caution, there.

I have planted a corner of a sheet in my garden to help keep critters/pests away.. ( just plant it enough so it does not blow away.. behind a tall plant and noone can see it sticking out) sees to work well for this... after a long season, I caught a momma robin hauling it off for her nesting.. LOL.... guess it was time to plant another sheet!

judykay 03-07-2011 08:09 AM

Let us know if it works on the gopher, I have them in my yard as well as do my neighbors and would love it if we found something so easy to deter them.

quiltincharlotte 03-07-2011 08:23 AM

Thanks! Lots of great ideas!

pollym44 03-07-2011 08:44 AM

Thanks!! #10 is the best 1. :D

AnitaSt 03-07-2011 09:20 AM

I use the Bounce Free stuff...no fragrance...because of allergies. Do you think it would work too? Especially on mosquitoes. I wonder if its the scent or something else that repels the bugs.

grannypat7925 03-07-2011 09:21 AM

I use generic and it works just as well for me!
