Does anyone use a CANISTER VACUUM anymore? the one, usually, with the hose and wands and the "on-board" tool rack?? We have a Kirby upright, but attaching the hose is a bear!!!!! My husband pushes the Kirby...I go around with my Kenmore canister and get the baseboards and ALL the crevices incl. window sills, under the fridge, behind the washer and dryer, etc. Opinions???

We had 2 Sharks. Each one lasted less than a year and we do not have a large house, pets or children. We now have 2 Dysons, a regular and the lightweight one that runs on a battery. Dysons are expensive but they do a great job.

I have a mini upright Dyson - it is half the size of the big one. It is much more powerful than bigger machines that I have had and adequate for a three room flat that I live in. I am so impressed that my next purchase will be the battery one so I can vacuum my car. I've had the small upright for 5 years now and it is still strong.

I have an Oreck, it does a good job. I use a small shop vac most of the time. Picks up cat hairs and litter. I like a dust mop for wood floors. No way could I live without a canister vac. I vacuum out the heat vents, other up right vacs and tons of other things. Uprights just can't do everything.

I totally loathed my Dyson. I sold it on eBay. I have a Shark now and it is so much better ... not to mention cheaper.

Love my Dyson. First day I had it I vacuumed carpet that had already been vacuumed with a Hoover and couldn't believe the amount of extra 'stuff' it picked up. Had a Shark Steamer and took it back, it wasn't a good quality. Maybe their vacuums are better but I wouldn't bother taking a chance.

I have a shark and love it. have used a Dyson and like it, but a little heavy for my taste, for the money I say Shark all the way

Dyson.

I replaced soooo many vacuums over the years - they all broke in one way or another after about 3 years. I finally bought a Dyson (despite my husbands protestations over the cost) because it has a longer warranty than any other vacuum.

Read the warranty's. There is a reason Dyson costs more, and there is a reason it has a longer warranty.

Shark has a 1 year warranty.
Dyson has a 5 year warranty.
