Staying here with Dad and taking care of him, I have been thrust into the world of Sanford and Son, The Waltons (love it), Mayberry RFD, Bonanza and, thank goodness The Dick Van Dyke Show (thank goodness for comic relief!

What are some of your favorites?

Teddybear Lady 10-12-2011 09:41 AM

Andy Griffith

We have the whole set of DVD's and I'm usually watching these when I'm sewing.

Olivia's Grammy 10-12-2011 09:41 AM

Mash is our all time favorite. Is it considered Vintage? I love Luci. The other night we watch Dick Van Dyke Show.

AlwaysQuilting 10-12-2011 09:54 AM

Our cable just started running MeTV and it has several old shows I grew up with. Dick Van Dyke (best show of all time), Sgt.Bilko (used to watch that as a kid), Bob Newhart (original show from the 70's), Mary Tyler Moore, Car 54 Where Are You?, etc.
Love it.

bjeriann 10-12-2011 10:03 AM

I love the Waltons. I have all 9 seasons on DVD plus the movies. I watch them all the time. Everyone in the house is sick of them.

We do not have cable; but we do have a lot of VHS and DVDs. One of my favorites are the Star Trek movies and tv series. We also like to watch Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin in their series Colgate Comedy Hour.

Also "Frasier".

BellaBoo 10-12-2011 12:54 PM

Mama's Family! I love that kooky insane total ridiculous show!

Lisanne 10-12-2011 01:04 PM

I have no idea which ones are on TV or DVD, but I've been wanting to see My Three Sons again. Anyone remember, with Fred MacMurray (sp?) ? The sons were Rob, Chip & Ernie.

Also would love to see Here Come the Brides, the one with the three brothers, Jason, Joshua and Jeremy.Bobby Sherman played Jeremy.

(I didn't intend a three-brothers theme, by the way! The shows were very different.)

I loved the early episodes of My Three Sons but stopped watching it when the original oldest son Mike (Tim Considine) quit the show and the original uncle/housekeeper, Bub, (William Frawley from I Love Lucy) died. It was a great show way back then.

Beachbound 10-12-2011 01:09 PM

I can't believe no one has said Little House on the Pairie!
I loved My Three Sons too but it was better before Ernie when Mike was on, hunka, hunka!

Jingle 10-12-2011 01:31 PM

I loved all of these and any shows from from that era but, star trek or anything like it. Just me. Waltons is great. I loved Dean Martins show and Red Skelton. Just classy.

Mad Mimm 10-12-2011 01:38 PM

Rowan and Martin's Laugh In; Emergency!; and of course, Charlie's Angels. Yes, I consider them vintage. I have lots of memories of watching Jackie Gleason, the Honeymooners, the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and also the Donnie and Marie show... my dad was big on comedy and variety shows.

Here is another blast from the past I loved: the Gong Show (the original)

My number one favorite: The Carol Burnett Show. Hands-down.

Greenheron 10-12-2011 01:39 PM

Magnum, P.I., Kojak, Miami Vice, Hill Street Blues, L. A. Law...... I think there's a pattern, here. Oh, Quincy M.E., the Odd Couple.

Make Room for Daddy and That Girl and the Smothers' Bros. and Monty Python's Flying Circus, Rowan and Martin's Laugh In and Saturday Night Live with John Belushi.

Now don't you guys talk about Mayberry, RFD. I happen to live in Mt Pilot, Go to Gilley's Garage, and shop in Mayberry.Don't see Gomer around very much but Barney is always out in the black and white police car. Now he charges for you to take a ride (tour Mayberry), A lot of the people discussed on the show are real people. When I was growing up here, it was like the show in that, people were very nice, caring, and you could always count on your neighbors. Have traveled to most of the states in US; Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico and chose to retire back in Pilot Mountain (Mt Pilot) Things are changing. Becoming a bedroom community. So, I don't need to watch the show, I live it. Just come on over and sit a spell. We'll make lemonade. LOL

mrsponcho1 10-12-2011 02:00 PM

It is funny that you started this thread today. I was at my Grandmother's today visiting. I go at least once a week and spend several hours. We were watching Dick Van Dyke and I commented that usually Bonanza was on at that time. I guess I'm getting hooked on some of the shows. lol

nyelphaba 10-12-2011 02:09 PM

Wasn't talking bad about it, I love it. So peaceful and don't have to worry about language or bad suggestions.
Barney, bless his heart, still cracks me up.

I just read all these posts and I don't think there's one of them I didn't like (or love)!!

If I absolutely had to pick 2 it would be All in the Family and The Waltons- talk about a strange combination! hahahaha

I love Mary Tyler Moore- wanted her apartment, loved LaVerne and Shirley, Happy Days, Leave it to Beaver, My Three Sons (which I ended up having) oh don't get me started!!! The Carol Burnett show was absolutely hysterical!! Still love to watch Sanford & Son and still laugh like crazy, oh how about 3's Company???

Great great shows!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for reminding me of so many goodies!
