What does your Member name mean?
This probably sounds silly but has anyone besides me ever wonder where someone's sign in name comes from? I often looks at each person's avatar and name. I enjoy the craft work and animal pictures the most. When I look at the name listed, I often wonder why someone picked that name, where it came from etc. For example..AnngelAnne, yes, angel is spelled wrong, but I am always saying that being an angel is a goal, so I put my name in Anngel.... Anyone else want to share?

Ckcowl.....
ckc the initials I was born with, owl a nickname from the time I was a baby. |
I'm not as clever as some of the members... mine is pretty much self-explanatory
|
I went through some sewing related words and came up with mine.
As a child we used to sing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oA-EpVsrGw but sang 'bobbing along'. I thought it reflected my mindset now that I'm no longer working. |

mine is my first name jo and the first three letters of my last name
|
When I opened my Etsy shop selling some of the items I love to make, I considered myself to be in the sewing business, or “sewbiz”, hence sewbizgirl.
|
Mine is the name all 6 of my grandchildren have always called me. My oldest grandson dubbed me with it and it stuck.

My nickname is Zo and my married name starts with Z.
In highschool, believe it or not, when I of course still had my maiden name--which does not start with Z-- the cheerleaders on my squad nicknamed me Zozee. (Or Zozie? I never saw anyone write it, so who knows how it was spelled in our minds?) Whenever I sew for charitable fundraisers, my business name is Zo Z's Cozies. For a username I thought about "zoz" which rhymes with "oz" which is a reference to Kansas, my girlhood home. But I wanted people to read it as two syllables, and I liked the highschool nickname-turned-married-initial connection. Is that far more than you wanted to know? You're welcome. |
Morningside Munchkins was the name of my child care, and I dropped the first part to make a shorter name.
|
Kalama Quilts was the name of an early business that has had a number of incarnations
|
my nickname was and still is by many relatives is Squirrelly.
My now husband (of 43+ years) thought it was appropriate when we were dating. I was shy to use it when I came to QB and saw a cute mouse with a sewing needle and i love red/pink dresses so I became Mousie and use to have a MousePad on the Diaries section. I completely fell in love with mousie and her escapades on the PDA's...good times, good times.:) |
Don't know if this thread is because of LeonF's lovely pictures but I told my story here:

Nana named me Kitsie. My "real" name is Catherine. Because my last name was Hicks, saying my name, Kitsie Hicks was painful for me! So I go by Kit or Nana.
|
It may seem obvious, but there's a little story too... My sister used to call me "Cheshire" instead of my full name, Patricia. It was/is a treasured nickname as I don't have any others, really. I also happen to be a cat fan, and very fond of this one:

It's always interesting to hear the stories and the stories behind their pictures/avatars. A handle or nickname is always interesting to me on how people get them. In role playing games, a good character name is important, you are trying to sum up your character in that name. I've decided that Iceblossom is too long and now try for about 6-8 characters, most people just call me Ice, but it was perfect for that character and race/class and it was all perfect for me. I know it's hard to understand for non-gamers but I played Ice 2-6 hours a day for 6+ years, it's like having a character in a book. I am not my characters and my characters are not me, but we do have some similarities.
But the curiosity I understand :) In a similar sort of thing when stuck in traffic (because otherwise I don't see well enough) I like to figure out personalized license plates. I like the double nn's in your name, I think it personalizes it well. It can be hard to get the names we want the way we want them and the double N plus Ann with an E all help. PS: I have a theme song too. Of course it's Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice. You got a problem, yo I'll solve it! Edit: It's like having two theme songs in one because Under Pressure by Queen with David Bowie works for me too :) |
oh my, mine just means Native Texan. i started using it while living in Colorado. I missed home so much!!
|
my initals stand for marge in charge as that is what my kids nicknamed because I tend to involve myself in all sorts of activities, or use to, not so much anymore and I live in Pa. hence MIC-Pa

It was my first password that was given to me about 25 years ago by the IT manager at my work.

Mine is the name of my horse, Watson! And, now I have the perfect excuse to show off a picture of him.
Watson |
I think mine is obvious :D
|
just my name, no nik here
|
Oh Watson, your horse is gorgeous!
When DH and I retired in 2001 we moved from the San Diego area to a farm in Northern British Columbia, in a tiny farming community called Dunster. We spent 4 wonderful years there, then moved to Oregon, where I learned to quilt. I cherish those years in Dunster, so I used it as my member name, and also as a business name (dunsterQuilts). |
It means the one I really wanted was already taken!
|
My username is pretty obvious too. I was born and raised in New Zealand. I've been in the USA for almost ten years but I still have a distinctive accent. Even though I've embraced America as my country (dual-citizenship) and I love the USA, my birth country is still a great part of who I am.
|
Catsden, I love cats and have 4 of them. Watson is beautiful by the way.
|
DH's name is Jay. I'm Jslady.
|
I had a Chevy Avalanche when I joined this forum. I loved that truck! So I'm "love my avy". I now have a Honda CR-V, but my Avy still holds a special place in my heart. 😍
|
Poco and Ellie were 2 of my favorite horses. I wish they were still here.
|
Oh, Watson, i want to come pet your horse! He is gorgeous!!!
|
My board name use to be Jingleberry, the name of one of my black toy poodles. When she died at almost 16 it upset me to see her name. I got permission to shorten it to Jingle.
The dog in my avatar is Cookie a long legged Chihuahua. She just turned 10 YO. |
Just my name. My avatar was a fpp block I had finished shortly before joining the board, and have never changed it b/c I forgot how I got it on there in the first place. Besides I like how it looks anyway.
|
Watson, your horse is beyond beautiful. He's a majestic, muscular steed! My question is, how did he get his name?
|
Elementary, my dear Zozee......my dog's name is Sherlock. :D
Watson |
When I first discovered and got into the internet, being the cautious type, knew it was not so safe to use your real name and I lacked imagination, so I used the name of the town I grew up in and it has followed me where ever I go in cyber world simply because it makes life easier for me. Now if I could do the same with passwords!
I don't have an avatar because I don't know how to put one on and never felt the need to find out how to. Pretty basic but that is me.....How about that??? Murphy |
