I haven't seen him on here for awhile. Has anyone seen him? Hope he is ok.

Jim's Gem 04-30-2009 09:46 PM

I saw him post a couple days ago. Remember the bat in the window?

sewnsewer2 04-30-2009 09:47 PM

The bat in his bedroom window thread was posted April 2008. It's an old thread that has been revived.

sewnsewer2 05-01-2009 04:39 AM

Ok, thanks. I was just thinking of him.

I had bats in my apartment once, I moved!!!!

SaraSewing 05-01-2009 06:03 AM

He posted a couple of days ago on the Bea Author thread. He's job hunting.

Kyiav10 05-01-2009 07:02 AM

I swapped some fabric with him for patterns. He responded to my PM the other day.

Its seems I read he was real busy looking for work :?:

sewnsewer2 05-01-2009 12:42 PM

I hope he can find a job.

littlehud 05-01-2009 06:56 PM

It's such a tough job market right now. How he finds something. My thoughts and prayers are with him.

Shemjo 05-01-2009 06:59 PM

More prayers going Henry's way!

Barb M 05-02-2009 12:10 AM

CindyBee 05-05-2009 03:49 PM

I was just thinking about Henry. Wondering what happened about the chickens??

henryparrish76 05-05-2009 06:27 PM

Awww thanks you guys. It is nice to have people thinking about me. I have just been so busy trying to find a job and also taking the online classes.

The job hunting has been an everyday thing. I go out looking and applying at places that I think I am qualified to do. I actually got told a few days ago that I was overqualified for one job. I was like , what? I have never heard of that before. Has anyone else heard that before?

But...today I got an email from one of the places I applied to about two weeks ago and they have called me in for a second interview on Thursday so we will see how that goes. It is a part time job tutoring kids.

Oh plus I turned 33 this past Sunday. :)

My fingers and toes are crossed for you, Henry!
I was told once that I was over-qualified - I sputtered and said, 'Yes, but if you hire me, I will have 1/3 the commute!' They didn't hire me. So you know what NOT to say - - -

What exactly does that mean, overqualified? I figured that was a good thing because they would know you would work very hard at the job. I am so confused by that.

Shemjo 05-05-2009 08:12 PM

Happy belated birthday! Good luck on the interview Thursday!

Barb M 05-05-2009 08:30 PM

Awe, Happy Birthday Henry!!!!! :) :) :)

Over-qualified means this. They don't want someone that is overqualified, because, that means the person is taking a job less than their potential and prob lower pay too, and so they think the person will take the job just because they are desperate for a job, but as soon as a better offer comes along, that they have credentials to do, and is better pay, they will leave this job. That's what i think they think. But, you have a second interview coming up, a second interview is always a good sign, hope it goes good :) :) :)

Yep - sometimes you have to play your self down - because if they think you are over qualified they wont employ you because they think you will get bored.

Yes, or that you'll carry on looking for a job more suited to your qualifications and be off the minute you find one!

Happy Birthday for last Sunday (gosh, I remember 33!)

How's it going with the chickens? I've got a hen sitting on 12 eggs from the neighbour at the moment (we don't keep a cockerel) Shame I can't send you some chicks - maybe by Pan Am with stewardess attendance?!

henryparrish76 05-06-2009 01:10 AM

Thanks.
Well I am within what the town calls their zone even though I am not in the town limits themselves so they said there would not be a way for me to keep even one chicken unless all the neighbors on my street and the one that runs perpendicular to me agrees to it. So I would have to collect their signatures and show to the permit issuing office down at town hall. Thats 22 houses and I know 2 of them wouldnt sign it cause they dont like animals of any kind. They complain whenever they see anyone walking there dog down the road. So alas, no chickens for me.

CindyBee 05-06-2009 01:19 AM

Happy Birthday Henry, and here are more positive thoughts coming your way regarding the interview!

bearpaw 05-06-2009 04:06 AM

Good luck with the second interview and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :D

Oh, what a shame Henry! Sure you can't bribe them with promises of eggs?

Sadly, Pan Am has been gone since Dec '91. My husband flew for PAA for 27 years, and his father did before him. It's nice to know that you remember Pan Am KX.

Yeah I am sure. The odd thing is this. Raleigh allows chickens to be kept. Our state capital city allows chickens to be kept but this little town doesnt. Makes no sense to me.

If we could understand those bureaucrats (I KNOW that's not how you spell it?!) we'd be as dumb as them!

He sent me a ticket (Pan Am of course) to follow him on cruise when he was in the Navy. We were married in Yokohama. His Dad and our son were also Naval Aviators. His Mom was one of the first female pilots in AZ. And, no, I don't have a pilot's license. Someone has to be the passenger.

butterflywing 05-07-2009 09:23 AM

very wise!
