I do have a collection of beautiful ceramics that I paint on sometimes. I have narrowed this down and won't be add any more hobbies...oh oh, I also sculpt doll faces now and then and have the stufff for that too....I am a scanner lol.

Pat and pups 06-17-2010 07:37 AM

I raise and train service dog puppies and teach puppy obedience classes for my local obedience club. I do what I can to help raise money for the service dog program. Being with my dogs keeps me from quilting because they like to chew on fabric....

I also love to read.

Rosyhf 06-17-2010 07:40 AM

LaurieE 06-17-2010 07:43 AM

I addition to quilting (which is my first love), I knit, crochet, spin wool, embroider, participate in living history events (1830-1880s), garden, and do genealogy.

sharon b 06-17-2010 07:45 AM

Crochet, cross stitch ( not so much anymore ) , made candles. Have tried many things over the years, some stick around longer than others  LOL

quiltlady37 06-17-2010 07:46 AM

I have several flower gardens and spend a large amount of time in them in the summertime. I spent all day working in the gardens yesterday. We also have a veggie garden. I also love to read but do more of that in the winter time. My love of quilting and love of growing flowers is about equal.

amma 06-17-2010 07:47 AM

I have/do dabbled in many crafts, but mainly quilting for now, will give fabric dyeing more time later this summer :D:D:D

Scissor Queen 06-17-2010 07:49 AM

I used to crochet but I can't do much of that anymore due to a shoulder problem.

I have two doll houses I collect furnishings for.

I used to do quite a bit of photography work. I am allergic to too many of the chemicals though so I had to give up B&W film and prints. Now I just use a digital camera.

shopella 06-17-2010 07:51 AM

Where to start?! I am a beginner quilter and a beginning knitter. I'm an intermediate crocheter. I make my own cards (rubber stamps and other media). I love photography. I have 2 dogs and one of them is a trained Therapy Dog and we belong to Therapy Dog International. We visit the hospital, senior homes, and do special events. I have many other things I'd love to try.....but for now, I'm keeping plenty busy!

debbieumphress 06-17-2010 07:58 AM

Great subject, we are all so talented. Why waste it on one hobby. I quilt mostly now but I crochet, knit, play piano, paper quilling, scrap booking, soft dollmaker (some of pics in my PDA), one-stroke painting (thank you Donna Dewberry), if it is a craft I have tried it at least once and more if I liked it. And I have ceramics from when I dabbled in it, I garden, do woodworking with hubby. And always a reader of books and magazines.

luv-e 06-17-2010 08:08 AM

I cross-stitch,crochet, knit[not so much] craft. I LOVE to dumpster dive[hehe] I like taking something and reventing it. I love to paint too. I was @ a Flea Mkt. but due to the economy business was down so I pulled out  I live in a very rural area.

Yarn or Fabric 06-17-2010 08:13 AM

Quilting is my hobby - I'm a crochet designer by trade (been published in lots of magazines, online & on through my own site) although I do want to design more quilts! I have designed a few applique ones. I have too many ideas in my head!

I also garden, water garden, and play video games. I'm a kid at heart - likes to play in the dirt & then clean up and play video games lol.

GrannyW5 06-17-2010 08:34 AM

I have had many hobbies also. I've knitted, crocheted, pierced lampshades, finished two embroidered quilts. Did a lot of oil painting and would like to get back to that. Of all of them, I think I like quilting the best. I love working in myh flower gardens and would love to work in a florist, but that probably won't happen. You name it, I've tried it.

thismomquilts 06-17-2010 08:40 AM

It's funny you ask - I just told my husband I want to have $1000 a day to do what I want - after looking at so many craft blogs yesterday!! He laughed and said, "Will you take $1,000 each month?" I was ok with that - he said, "Ok, I'll just get a couple more jobs and never come home." I assured him I'd much rather have HIM than the money... I have cross stitched in the past and love it... I have tried scrapbooking, didn't like it so much. I do like making cards. Quilting/sewing is my all time favorite

feline fanatic 06-17-2010 08:42 AM

I used to dabble in fok art/tole painting but realized my passion is quilting. As a result, I haven't picked up a paintbrush in about 7 years.

Melinda in Tulsa 06-17-2010 08:43 AM

Besides enjoying quilting/sewing, I raise and race Homing Pigeons. I also have 3 dogs, 3 cats, 3 horses and a cockatiel. Oh, and a red eared slider turtle who lives in a 125 gallon aquarium. I used to like spending alot of time outdoors but the past few years tend to be an insider. Can't take the heat and cold like I used to. I rarely get out in the winter except to take care of livestock, but in the summer I like to raise a few veggies. But I guess the hobby I spend the most time at is surfing the internet!

GrammaNan 06-17-2010 08:50 AM

My main hobby now is quilting however I sing and play the piano and guitar. My husband, in an attempt to deter me from my quilting obsession, bought me a mandolin and a banjo so I am learning to play them as well. I love to go "junking" at local thrift stores and garage sales. I love hand embroidery and am working on a series of kitchen towels with snowmen on them for Christmas. One of my problems is that my favorite hobbies is to learn new things! That is how I caught the quilting bug.

katyquilter 06-17-2010 09:13 AM

I also crochet and scrapbook. I have a wonderful scrapbook of all my finished projects along with photos of my children, new babies, wedding couples and those who received quilts or afghans from me as gifts.

aliaslaceygreen 06-17-2010 09:21 AM

Well, looking around studio....hmm. Photography is my number one avocation. (It's what my degree is in, but it doesn't pay too many bills, lol)

I have a bead collecting obsession, and a scrapbooking collecting obsession, and ...well, there's craft paints and floral arranging supplies and polymer clays, and and and and....surprised to find that all the fabric fits!!!!

Besides quilting I love to read, mostly murder mystries. Nothing really gruesome though. I also play bass in a local classic country band and in local jam sessions. My husband plays guitar and sings and when I retired it looked like fun and was something we could do together. I started with a mandolyn but decided the group needed a bass and learned to play that. My quilting also started after I retired. I thought I wanted to do tapestry weaving but didn't take to that too well. I needed more help than just a book. I also crochet and have tried tatting. I've added a picture of me and my upright bass. I also have and electric bass.

Suzanne57 06-17-2010 09:39 AM

I knit (socks right now), crochet, sew, quilt, cross stitch, did some plastic canvas when that was real popular, bird watch (hummers are fun), read (have over 600 paperbacks), and of course, read this forum!

tortoisethreads 06-17-2010 09:43 AM

I'm what you might call a suburban homesteader so there is a lot of sewing and crafting going on at my house. My passion is quilting, but I also make clothes, do a lot of gardening, canning and preserving, etc. If I can make it homemade, I will.

How wonderful. Dont we have a great life? I can't imagine not doing some sort of fun thing for oneself. I was a professional seamstress for many years and only God remembers how many garments I have sewn. My business was in my home studio, which turned into my painting studio where I taught Folk Art for years after I had enough of the sewing for people lol.

Now I make dolls when the mood strikes and I need to dig a pattern out that my friends want to do ...I won't stop my quilting tho. I can do two crafts. At moment it's quilting during the day and knitting in the early evening.

Ahhh, I belonged to the NSTDP. I went to many convention where I learned under the masters. Those were fun days. A different state every year. I got rid of most of my books and only kept my Josonja collection, Joyce Howard, Helen Cavin, some Rosemary West and some odds and ends. I sold all on ebay. I have a garage full of wood to paint, you name it, Ihave it....I am a collector lol....

Here is one of my orginal cloth dolls. She is totally painted. First I make the armature. Then I make the body. Then I covered her entire body like a collage, using my painted fabric. Then I painted on top of that all sorts of designs. Her name is Aladina and she is sort of a circus person, half human. I am not done with her.

I see those pic aren't that big.

I work full time as a nurse so I don't have a huge amount of free time but, I love my quilting and always have a cross stitch project on the go. Then there is my Grandson, and my 3 Golden Retrievers. Oh I almost forgot, I still have 2 children (21 & 16) at home and my dear DH who supports me in it all. He has his motorcycles too.

MadQuilter 06-17-2010 11:42 AM

We are renovating our house - does that count? I used to knit but I was plagued by tendonitis.
