James Taylor? John Denver? The Wedding Song? How many times have you seen James Taylor in concert? Who did you see the most in concert? Anyone see Leon Russell?

janRN 04-14-2011 05:04 AM

I eloped. Left the house with my mother screaming at me "don't think you can come back here if it doesn't work out" (I was young). 41 years later I still haven't had to move back home and my mother and DH are best friends!

sueisallaboutquilts 04-14-2011 05:05 AM

This is awful- I don't remember!!!!!!! It wasn't the wedding march b/c I didn't want anything traditional (lol)
I've seen BRUCE and the E Steet band the most :D:D

PATTIESPEARL 04-14-2011 05:08 AM

WE ELOPED, DIDN'T TELL ANYONE. WE WERE TOO SCARED TO STAND UP IN FRONT OF A BUNCH OF PEOPLE. WOULD YOU BELIEVE THET 37 YEARS LATER, I AM THE SONG LEADER OF MY CHURCH AND SING IN FRONT OF AT LEAST A HUNDRED PEOPLE EVERY SUNDAY. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT?

LovingIzabella 04-14-2011 05:09 AM

Hosta, I saw James Taylor at the gym once. It was so funny. He was in Syracuse for a concert and there he was riding on the bike. I nearly flipped! :D:D

MrsM 04-14-2011 05:12 AM

We were married outside, so I guess it was bird songs...

thequilterslink 04-14-2011 05:36 AM

Blue Bayou and Lady in REd were played as they pronounced us man and wife, but traditional march as i went down the aisle

Rhonda 04-14-2011 05:39 AM

Happy Birthday! We got married on my mom's birthday and my Dad sang happy birthday in my ear as we walked down the aisle to make me relax. We actually had the traditional bridal song.

ptquilts 04-14-2011 05:41 AM

eloped!

kwhite 04-14-2011 06:05 AM

Traditional but my brother had Hey Jude as his wedding march and his bride wore deep purple velvet. Bet you can guess the decade for that wedding.

okiepastor 04-14-2011 06:07 AM

Wedding march---the ONLY thing used then! anything else would have been scandalous!

nancia 04-14-2011 06:30 AM

we were married at my parents' home so there was no music playing, but i'm pretty sure i was humming 'bumble bee tuna.'

eloped. Seems to be a lot of us! And I love him as much (and more) to this day!

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 04-14-2011 06:43 AM

A fake Elvis singing Viva Las Vegas..........guess where I got married?!?!?

the casual quilter 04-14-2011 06:45 AM

My hubby of 35 years and I were married in judges chambers to no music.
I did see Leon Russel years ago at Mammoth Gardens in Denver. He was playing in concert with Joe Cocker.
We also went to a concert to hear Kenny Rogers when he was with the First Edition. The opening act was an unknown comic named Steve Martin.

ssgramma 04-14-2011 06:46 AM

Backyard w/friends wedding here.

I saw Leon Russell with Willie Nelson in Ventura, CA in the 1990's.

Dragonfly Nana 04-14-2011 06:49 AM

We had a simple second wedding in which my son escorted me in to "God Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flats. His daughter arranged a first dance to DH's favorite "Forever" by Kiss
Opposites musically but balanced in all the right ways.

Here we go again!!

jdiane318 04-14-2011 06:53 AM

Which time????

jdiane318 04-14-2011 07:01 AM

I have seen Elton John, before he was big in 1970 at the University of Northern Iowa for $3. Have seen James Taylor 7 times, Bob Seger, Alabama (10), Chicago is my all time favorite group, have seen them 42 times in my life. I love, love, love that group. Love Leon Russell. 2 weeks ago, he was on SNL with Elton John for a rare concert with pianos placed in opposite directions. Loved it. We used to go to Tulsa just to drive by his house so we could see him driving in his white Excalibur. Life without music is like sewing without fabric

mochasue 04-14-2011 07:20 AM

In-a-Gadda-da-vida by Iron Butterfly. Don't ask. We were married at midnight on 12/31/1999 in a beautiful backyard at a Y2K party. My boss married us. It really was beautiful.

dpparris 04-14-2011 07:32 AM

We were married outside in front of a lake, so no music.

He asked me to marry him on our 2nd date. We knew each other less than 1 week. May 17th we will celebrate 30 wonderful years together. And to think some people said it would not last because we did not know each other well enough.

I knew that I liked you for a reason!! The Boss gives the BEST CONCERTS!!

The first time it was the traditional wedding march, the second time Ode to Joy.

QuiltnCowgirl 04-14-2011 08:59 AM

1st ex - Walked in to "I Wanna Know What Love Is" by Foreigner. Walked out to "Sea of Love" by The Honeydrippers

2nd ex - Walked in to a phenomenal pianist playing the traditional wedding march. Song sung by soloist during ceremony "Everything I Do" by Bryan Adams

DH (3rd times a charm :)) No music at all. Just stood under the big mulberry tree in Mom's backyard with the minister & only immediate family gathered around us.

Monstookie 04-14-2011 09:05 AM

I walked down the aisle to "Ode to Joy"...and ...while we were at the alter we had the "Wedding Song" by Paul Stookey, sung by the church Cantor. It was really beautiful. Love the lyrics to that song.

We were lucky to get that as our church was a very conservative Roman Catholic church and you couldn't have any "modern" music.

That was 23 years ago.

My late DH and I were married in our beloved Yosemite Valley in the Little Brown Church. His talented early teen daughter played the traditional wedding march, and outside we could see a big buck deer grazing on the fresh grass under an old apple tree.

The couple who stood up for us were from the AF Base near town, he was a B52 navigator, (bragged he could take that plane and set it down within 20 feet of any place on earth) and they were late for the wedding. He was driving and got lost in the valley of Yosemite!!! When they drove up he wasn't a happy camper and his wife was convulsed with laughter. She giggled and snickered all through the service!! It was a happy time, marriage lasted 39 1/2 years.

AgapeStitches 04-14-2011 09:38 AM

I was too impatient while waiting for God to send Kevin to me, so I ran away and got married three times before I learned my lesson. When I finally met Kevin, I knew he was the one and my oldest daughter sang "Bless the Broken Road" and my GrandPa walked me down the aisle. This was my only church wedding and it has been the best marriage ever .... God really does know who and what's best for me (I'm hardheaded can ya tell?).

The Yosemite Valley church is so quaint & beautiful. Cute story about your friend. I'm glad you had the 39 1/2 years with your DH.

You sound like me! Though I wonder sometimes whether or not I really did let God pick #3 for me cause sometimes when we butt heads I wonder if God is laughing at me for my choice LOL

AgapeStitches 04-14-2011 10:01 AM

Oh, trust me, God is laughing at me too lol

No idea. I am not even sure if I am really married. I came from Puerto Rico three weeks before the wedding. The ceremony was in english, which I spoke very little of. I may have sold a kidney and not know it. Wait!!! I did!! So that's what that was!

mamaw 04-14-2011 02:26 PM

The traditional wedding march....38 years ago, this month.

BabyCakes 04-14-2011 02:42 PM

Jesu,Joy of man's desiring

Tulip 04-14-2011 03:15 PM

Down the aisle to the traditional wedding march. Then during the mass, Annies Song (John Denver), If ( David Gates and Bread), The Wedding Song (Paul Stukey, aka Peter, Paul and Mary), finished up with"Longer", by Dan Fogelberg. My softball shortstop was our solist, her sister played the guitar. That was 31 years ago, how time is flying!

Jennifer22206 04-14-2011 03:19 PM

eloped. :) We hopped on a cruise, and married in the Cayman Islands on the beach. We had some calypso music (I think.. I was too nervous)

molly oldham 04-15-2011 02:54 AM

Your the best thing that ever happened to me by Gladys knight and the Pipps. 1983

everbtrue 04-15-2011 03:52 AM

The bridal march from Sound of Music. Had the LP in my collage dorm room & practiced the steps for months. Still married almost 33 years later & I watch the wedding scene every time the movie is on.

merchjag 04-15-2011 04:14 AM

Traditional and I loved that song-39 years later and I'd marry him again in a heartbeat
