Well, so far, it looks like my favorite dinners are being fixed by you California gals! What time is dinner? LOL! Don't know what we're having. We're going to DS and DIL's. What a treat! I have always (at least for the last 35 years) fixed dinner and had everyone here. It will be really nice to be waited on for a change. I'm getting too old to do all the work involved! Well, not too old maybe; just too tired!
Merry Christmas to everyone! And a Happy and Blessed New Year! |
The only day our family will be together is Sunday, Dec.28. Our GD will be baptized at the 11 am church service. Another daughter needs to be at her in-laws by 5 pm for a party. Two grandchildren still NEED naps. So we need a quick lunch so that we can open presents before naptime. So, we are having chili!

My menu has changed (in my mind) several times. Christmas Eve will be herb crusted pork roast, "fancy" rice (jasmine rice with stuff in it) & peas. Christmas day will be simple with grilled steaks, twice baked potatoes, 7 layer salad and oddly DH has asked for glazed carrots. (My mom's recipe) coconut cake, fudge, cookies for dessert. AND blackeyed peas for New Years day!

Christmas Dinner: Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, candied sweet potatoes, a veggie casserole (broccoli and onion?), corn, salad of some sort, frozen strawberry dessert....
Christmas Brunch: I dunno yet  |
Same Christmas meal as the last 20 years and longer..... Ham, cheesy potatoes, mac and cheese, sweet and sour meatballs, brocolie and rice casserole, three bean salad, cold slaw, hot rolls, honey, pickles, butter, pumpkin cream pie, pumpkin pie, chocolate cream pie, whipped cream and whatever any guest bring. All for forty plus people on Christmas Day.

we're having a roast beast and mashed potatoes
what's for desert, it's up in the air right now. |
I will bake a big ham. The bakery will provide the cakes, pies and bread. A local catering service is preparing all the favorite sides for me to pick up. I don't cook on holidays. DD will make a Christmas punch and my SIL makes great fudge.

We are having rare Prime Rib on Christmas Eve and baked ham on Christmas day with our family. I love both!
